I liked how you talked with Robby (rather than just at him), and helped him to solve his problems and meet his needs himself, rather than just doing it all for him. You gave him the confidence and encouragement to try to do it himself, but also the support of knowing that you would help him if he needed it, such as slipping the bridle over the horse's 6' high ears when he can only reach 5' high. Soon, he'll be able to do it all himself, all because you gave him the confidence to start building his skills today. You're a great father.
Robbie needs your direction. Your his whole world. He’s looking for you to tell him to get up beside the herd and drive them straight. I see him not as out going as the other boys, but he wants to please you. Just needs more of your direction.

Reggie is alot like my oldest son when he was little. I never worried if I could hear him talking. The only reason he ever got quiet was when he was up to something, hurt or asleep lol.

Trusty should quickly pick up the attitudes and actions of the 'ready & steady' horses like Champ, Paint and Rambo. He'll follow their lead and be fine. I never saw him put his ears back, so I don't think he's obstinate or stubborn, but just unsure and still learning.

Check out driftwood bloodline? My dad had a stud that was driftwood bred. His ear looked the same. A split. His ears pointed inward. Walked out like a trot he could cover a lot of ground but smooth never missed anything! Everyday was different even though he had seen it beforehand. No relaxing.

I always wondered where my patients went, got it figured out now!!! you got them :). A lifetime of ranching and logging and looking back, slowing down and being patient would have been a good thing. My sons are a lot better than I was, but sometimes you just have to GET IT DONE :) God bless you and your beautiful wife. You're doing a fantastic job raising a great family!!! Why not just ride horses and push the cows. They didn't have trucks like that a hundred years ago much less in the 1860. Of they could ride the horses and the cows why can't you. A lot less problem of you have no hay haulers and other new fangled gadgets. 😂😅
