What Narnia book would you want to see adapted most?? I would say The Silver Chair!
I think they mentioned that there would be a new tv series adapting the whole book collection. But who knows when. I saw the original TV series in the 90s on BBC, and they had The Silver Chair episode. It wasn't... good (limited budget, etc). You can watch them on UA-cam.
I definitely want to see "The Magician's Nephew". To imagine the wood between worlds the graphics. And Empress Jadis of Charn (The White Witch) in the room full of giant statues or without spoiling all her shananigans....To see that all in film oh my goodness.
@@123haninhk Puddleglum remains one of my top-favorite Narnia heroes. Tom Baker's rendition is the best that's ever graced the screen! Also, the only one...
Of y’all ever watch game of thrones or Elf thsi Christmas Peter Dinklage is in both fo those as well :)
All of them
Interesting Fact about the Mice: They were normal mice in the first movie, but Aslan gifted them the chance to gain intelligence in the future. This was rewarded because the mice were the ones who chewed the rope off of Aslan’s body in the first movie.
That’s so cool! I had no idea! Thx for sharing!
But why did an animal well known for it's ingenuity would not be intelligent in the first place?
@@masansr bit more detail, *this* specific tribe of mice was a normal one until they ate the ropes off. Aslan then turned them into Talking Beasts as thanks, mice were chosen in the beginning but there can still be “dumb” versions.
Wow 🥺
Is that in the book? I'm obsessed. I need to read the book. This franchise is awesome.. I love all the actors.
Edmund's character development and his relationship with Peter is definitely the best thing in this movie. I also like the addition of the mice and the final goodbye to Susan and Peter (from Narnia), that final scene always make me emotional.
I never could read the ending of "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" without tearing up when I was little - Reepicheep sailing into Aslan's country got me every single time.
Imagine what a head trip it must be for Peter and the others to rule as Kings and Queens for decades and then revert to being irrelevant teenagers again
Indeed and then Lewis gave such tragic ending to Susan just for wanting a normal life in real world.
@@Tooba-K123 I think the others are leading productive lives in the real world as well, so I don't think that's fair. There's nothing to suggest they're stuck wishing they lived in Narnia. The last battle shows she's focusing on not growing up beyond superficially. That she just wants to be young, pretty and popular. If it was written today I'd say she's a commentary on Christian deconstruction. From others comments I've read, I haven't verified one way or the other, Lewis has said that it isn't that Susan can't be saved or never will believe in Narnia. To make a poor analogy like a rock star past their prime trying to relive the glory days while ignoring other things of importance. Like a business person getting lost in career while neglecting things of import, which for a beautiful, popular teenage girl the equivalent would be staying looking young and beautiful.
@@Tooba-K123 "the normal life" would be for her to have become a futile woman and forget what she lived in Narnia, what she learned... Don't forget that the book is a Christian analogy, she would then be a believer who deviated from God's ways and now only give value to earthly and fleeting things and forgot the most important
@@theuncoveredlamp I still don't think that her punishment fit her "crime" of having a skewed view of what it means to grow up. What she was forced to go through is nothing short of horrific and I don't think she deserved to have her life be turned into a literal nightmare just for wanting to be pretty and popular (especially considering these are very normal and common things for young people to want). Her ending really bothered me and the last book left a sour taste in my mouth when I read it as a child. Now that I'm older I understand what C.S Lewis was going for but I still don't like the way it was executed.
@@Tooba-K123usan and Peter moving on
Susan PEVENISE DOESN'T EVEN BELIEVE IN NARNIA ANYMORE
If you listen to the audio commentary the actors talk about Caspian and Peter's mistakes during the battle immediately followed by Edmund stabbing the White Witch. The movie script said something like "two boys, two kings, two failures" and the actor who played Edmund immediately chimed in and said something like "and Edmund saves the day!" 🤣Love Edmund in this movie!
The Telmarine soldier whom Reepicheep said "you people have no imagination" was actually the VFX artist who brought Reepicheep to life.
That's awesome! I love it when they give cameos like that - like Pattertwig the squirrel being Harry Gregson-Williams, the sound track composer!
HA! That's awesome
Which carries a bit of (intentional, I know) irony, honestly. XD Thanks of the info.
That's so cool!!!
They only had one VFX guy working on Reepicheep? lol
Not ashamed to say,as a kid, I cried when they returned at the end of the movie. I hadn’t read the books yet so the thing of Peter and Susan not being able to go back hit me like a truck. James hit the target on the use of the song at the end being a 2000s movie thing done right. I swear the directors new they were gonna make little kids cry with that fuckin song
YESSSS knowing they wouldn’t return broke me😭😭! Also, the the addition of the song “the call” just made it more emotional
who didn’t cry though
you have no soul
Same. That final song still gets me today. Though, i was older, a senior in high school when i first saw it but it came at the tale end of the darkest period of my life. The short version being I was forced to change schools after junior year, it was hell, dropped out and repeated senior year back at my old school. However, obviously all my old classmates were gone. I got what I had wanted back at my old school that I loved but all of my closest friends were gone.
To this day I still cry at the end of this movie. It’s so sad to me that they have to say goodbye to everyone. And that they know they will never come back. And the song makes it even more emotional. I cry at the end of the third movie too because of Lucy and Edmund.
i used to cry so hard every time oh my god. i still cry when i rewatch that part
James you probably remember this, but the attack on the Telmarine castle does not take place in the book at all. I actually really like the addition, because it shows both Peter's folly in not waiting for Aslan as well as the Narnian's need for Aslan. Even when charging into battle Peter cries "for Narnia", and not "for Aslan".
I actually think that Peter was in the right about Aslan. As a leader, you can't wait for someone to come and save you. Especially if this person hasn't been seen for centuries. Especially when the lives of your people are at risk. If Peter and Caspian had waited for Aslan to save them like Lucy said, instead of devising battle plans, then all the Narnians would've been dead. Aslan waited until the VERY END of the battle to arrive. And even then, Lucy had to go LOOKING for him. Aslan is great, but if he didn't show up to stop the Narnians from being genocided by the Telmarines the first time (centuries ago), then why would he suddenly appear now? I love Aslan as a character, but he is not like Jesus on Earth. In real life, Jesus isn't going to physically come and save you. His job is simply to inspire you to be brave and be a good person (save yourself and others). Aslan physically 'killed' the White Witch, but it's not like Jesus arrived to kill Hitler. Not to mention that Peter's younger siblings' lives were at risk too and I don't think Peter would've risked that for anyone, even Aslan.
@@ginae.2462No, he wasn't right and that's the point
@@ginae.2462 That Lucy had to go looking for Aslan for him to come is key. If Peter had believed in him and sought his help from the start, Aslan would have come earlier. This touches on a deeper, common theological discussion about free will and if and when God will violate that free will (i.e. the argument that God will not intervene in human affairs unless asked to do so, because otherwise would be to violate human free will) and of course on issues of having faith.
Yeah, it's allegorical for our Trusting in God's faithfulness and timing, not taking control for ourselves and acting on our own strength and doing our own will, not God's will and doing stuff by HIS Strength
Telmarine's were pirates from our world who entered the Narnian world accidentally through a magic portal in a cave. They settled Telmar and then eventually invaded Narnia. Calormen is the country/Empire south of Narnia, beyond the Desert.
That explains why Caspian is a Son of Adam.
So, Telmar became the Narnian equivalent of Australia. xD
I see the chronicles of Narnia as not only as an allegory of the new testament, but also a representation of the history of Christianity, from antiquity in the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, via the age of Conquest in Caspian and the dawnthreader, and so on. Timewise it does correlate to the actual history of Christianity as it is being about 1500 years in Narnia, from the lion and the witch to the Conquests of the telmarines, the same time spann from the birth of Christ to the age of Conquest in this world history
@@Shythalia haha! They invaded riding playtpuses and koalas.
@@marcusfridh8489 interesting. I had not considered that before.
Edmund has always been my favorite character. And in this movie, he shined most with "I know. You had it sorted". Because out of all of them there, he is the one who knows best the horrors the queen would bring to narnia.
It was definitely the battle of the egos with Peter and caspian. It’s understandable Peter is a king (that went back to being a child 😂) and caspian is a prince set to be king. Both were set to be in a position of decision making but couldn’t come to an agreement resulting in a tragedy. But I Also understand caspian I mean imagine hearing about this great king all your life and then you meet him and it’s just another teenager lol it was probably hard for him to take him seriously. And also considering the fact that he wasn’t sure Peter and his siblings would even come back so the narnians put caspian as leader before they came back
Okay, let's just say I never had a "movie watchig buddy" but after a long, hard day rewatch my fav movies and childhood cartoons with u guys, it's really make my day 😊
So... I just wanna say thank you 😄
Awww thanks :)
Same. My kid isn't into the same movies as me and i miss having someone to watch with, so i usually come to this channel for a bit of "company"
@@whitenoisereacts 😊💗
@@whitenoisereactswho your favorite character
I heard Susan doesn't believe in Narnia in the book
Or do you have a favorite scene for every movie
Best character development. We all hated Edmund with a passion in the first one and now he's the favorite character! Dudes a badass!!
Very true!
It’s also why I’m sad they never made the silver chair. Eustace is a brat in Dawn Treader, but silver chair is when he gets his Edmund-like glow up.
Even though the first movie was obviously the better one, I did still love this movie. I was glad that they gave Susan more of a chance to fight and use her skills. When she let's Lucy go on her own and shoots the horsemen, I was like Katniss who? Queen Susan is awesome. I would say you got this far so you might as well just watch the 3rd movie just to complete the series.
"Edmund, what a legeng. Caspian who?"
SAME. I had such a huge crush on Edmund when this movie came out. The only guy with common sense.
Same, he and Lucy are the best honestly
The actor who plays Prince Caspian, Ben Barnes, also plays the Darkling in Shadow and Bone-the reactions I found you guys through! I love this one as well for the nostalgia. Great reaction :)
Ah Ben Barnes. 1 of my first childhood crushes 😍
He went from "Oh my handsome prince" to " Yes daddy, I know you're corrupted by darkness, but I dont care one bit"
he's also Billy russo in the Punisher
20:31 I love Edmund's character growth in this movie! So satisfying 😌
I would actually like to have seen The Magician's Nephew done as a movie. I read these books so much as a kid and it is always kind of cool to see the world you've been imagining come to life. Especially as the first in the series. I love how you mentioned Tolkien and Lewis at the beginning because they actually knew each other! Tolkien, I believe, was the one who said to C.S. Lewis that he didn't think a book could do well if focused around a lamp or something to that affect. I could be misremembering that entirely lol I enjoyed this reaction guys - I do hope you do Voyage of the Dawn Treader!
Tolkien and Lewis liked each other, but Tolkien disliked Narnia a lot. In his own words: “ [Narnia was] outside the range of my sympathy, as much of my work was outside his [Lewis]”. That's mostly because Tolkien did not enjoy allegories
@@anitatereszczuk3967 The channel Hello Future Me addressed that: it seems Tolkien more disliked blunt, one-to-one allegories, while he was perhaps more fine with applicability.
@@anitatereszczuk3967 Like each other they did, to the point where they each included the other in their respective books.
Tolkien said Lewis couldn't put a lamppost in a fantasy story...and so he did! 😂
And yes, the Professor in Lion, Witch, Wardrobe is based on Tolkien and Treebeard in LOTR is based on Lewis.
BFF goals 💞
@@AndiLang8146 I love a meme I saw that summed it up:
Lewis: I put you in my book!
Tolkien: That's cool, I put you in mine, too!
Lewis: In my book you're the Professor who witnessed the creation of Narnia and created the Wardrobe that the children enter into Narnia with!
Tolkien: In my book you're a tree.
Lewis: ---
Tolkien: But, like, a COOL tree!
One line from the book really made me laugh out loud and stuck with me. “And so, the Pevensies returned to Narnia as some say King Arthur will one day return. And I say, the sooner the better!”
I love Lewis’ snide little asides, they’re so perfect
I love how these two say "we" and "us" like they're in the movie 😆
I was literally looking for reactions to this yesterday. I hope you react to Narnia: Voyage of The Dawn Treador next.
It’s on Patreon
Suppose you didn’t already know. Shrek director Andrew Adamson stuck close to the book with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and after its success, he took liberty with Prince Caspian as Ben Barnes was around 27 years old, playing a kid. In the Book, Caspian was around thirteen, but they aged him up for Ben, which is why they have that weird Susan and Caspian romance deal.
In the books one of my favorite spots is always when "the Narnian air" begins to work on the our world kids and their "hands remember their old skills" and such like! So exciting! You can see it in the movies in the kids' bearing. In this movie I didn't like the rivalry between Peter and Caspian. In the book Caspian is younger and is in the midst of a severe case of hero worship.
Can’t say enough how much I love these movies. The first one is definitely my #1 favorite out of the three. And Edmund definitely is way more likable in this movie than he was in the other one. I can see the situation from all of the siblings sides. I feel like Peter probably feels like he has to live up to all the stories that have been told of him and his siblings and that probably doesn’t feel as I don’t know confident is the word I guess I’m looking for. Idk. But yeah Edmund and Peter did kinda switch up the way they acted in the first one somewhat. Also you would think they would listen to Lucy by now in the beginning but they don’t. Ether way these movies are iconic love them. Really would like to see you two react to the third movie. Love the videos! You both do an amazing job!
I love your reaction videos guys. You invest in the movie, you notice the details, you discuss the issues presented, but you don't overdo it, you make sure to pay attention to the plot and the adventure too while cracking jokes that are hilarious af. You two are starting to become my fav reaction channel on yt, I'm glad I found you. Keep up the good work!
I lived and breathed these books as a child. I wish the adaptations had been more faithful, but it is hard to fit everything into a movie's runtime. For any super Narnia fans I recommend "The Magician's Book" by Laura Miller. It's part book analysis, part C.S. Lewis biography, but mostly about the grief of losing the wonder of your childhood and how to gain a new appreciation for your old favorites as an adult.
Ever see the BBC versions? They certainly are dated but they’re pretty faithful
@@LordHoth_90 No, I didn't know about those. I looked them up and will start watching now. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@LordHoth_90 The BBC versions are okay but I felt they were badly cast and looked absolutely horrible in terms of production. I do remember thinking the guy they got to play the prince in "The Silver Chair" was great, though.
The last scene always makes me so emotional man, seriously it took me a long time to watch it without crying lol
I liked the third movie. It shows great character growth from Lucy, Edmund and Caspian. I think it's worth watching. Of course there were some additions that weren't originally in the book, but I didn't mind those. For the most part I believe it follows the book pretty well. It's worth the watch.
It's mentioned in the books that afte the kids return to Narnia, their old skills and muscle memory return to them in about a day. So, they become just as skilled warriors and diplomats as they were when they left Narnia as adults.
This is definitely my favorite of the film trilogy! I appreciate the darker, more serious tone, while still providing the charm of Narnia and character development for our young kings and queens. What also makes this adaption fascinating is that there are TWO scenes that didn't exist in the original book because the characters decided against taking certain courses of action. Namely, attacking Miraz's castle and trying to summon the White Witch. The characters do talk about these being options, but the majority sides against these ideas so they never happen. So this movie is awesome because there's almost a "what if?" thing going on here with those two sequences. Plus, adds more drama. I love it!
The reason Susan and Peter were having such a hard time getting used to Narnia again is because they were older. They had aged in the real world and were starting to lose their belief, that's also why Lucy has had the best connection her belief of the beauty and wonder of Narnia never faded, she never stopped hoping to go back.
Also the Ice Queen isnt just convincing them to change sides she has this Siren thing. People want to be near her. When Caspians hand was cut he was completely lost in a trance reaching out to her. So when Peter was caught in it its not really his fault, it wasn't him being stupid.
Edmund definitely did step it up this movie he had real character growth in the last one and in the years by his siblings side and definitely matured.
Looking forward to another great reaction. Prince Caspian was my least favourite of the Narnia movies, but I know I'll enjoy it more watching with you guys.
I agree.... like Prince Caspian as if he wasn't given an education at all. That he thinks he's above that of Peter.
Honestly for me the first two Narnia movies r equially best (ofc nothing will compare to the first one after all it's the most iconic thing and the beginning of this all) although when I was younger I used to get annoyed with Caspian 'cuz he was kinda interfering with our main 4 protagonists dbbdb
Well to be fair Caspian is still annoying to me. With all this “We’ll take what they’ve took from us” talk to narnians? Relax castle boy
Ben Barnes’s cute face for sure makes it better tho
@@juliawho " we'll take back what's rightfully ours" like wym ours bro? loll
@@juliawho fr. like tf have u lost Caspian?
"You People have NO IMAGINATION!" IS probably one of my favorite lines of this movie
Definitely react to the third one. The voyage of the Dawn treader is an excellent movie I like it better than Prince Caspian actually.
And Tolkien and Lewis shared a ton of things because they were best friends, and helped each other with their books. Tolkien says he would have never finished Lord of the rings if it had not been for the encouragement of CS Lewis
I mean as a kid I didn’t like this movie as much as the first one possibly because of Caspian being the main focus even throughout Pevensie siblings are still there and also because the lack of faith from other Narnias and rest of Pevensie siblings on Aslan and most importantly because of political influence but I definitely liked Edmund’s redemption moments and his sass and strategy in dealing with Miraz by making him give into a duel with Peter but now as an adult I totally understand each character’s decisions. Peter was right that they can’t just wait for Aslan to show and do nothing. The plan of invasion could’ve worked had it not been for Caspian losing himself about his father’s death and things could’ve worked had Caspian just went back to palace safely instead of openly siding with Narnians, making himself look like an traitor. Overall it was not a bad sequel. However I personally prefer 3rd movie since it brings back the adventurous feeling to the course of story.
In case you were wondering, in the scene where they try to resurrect the white witch, the bird-lady is called a hag and the other creature was a werewolf.
I've always thought the books were incredibly dull because the main characters were very bland. That's why I really enjoyed the movies where they gave those children personality and struggles that just weren't there. Also, they made them significantly less childish - to me, the books seemed incredibly patronising. But then again, in my opinion, that's the characteristic of other Lewis' works too
See I totally disagree. I have never thought his books to be patronizing
@@whitenoisereacts Which is absolutely fair. Art is and always should be 100% subjective
there's something magical in the final song “The call”. It makes me feel nostalgic and not gonna lie, most of the time I cry while listening to it.
As humans even though we think we've matured, life always finds a way to tell us that there's still a lot to learn, and our decisions can have bad consequences. But in the end, we live with them, and we learn from them. And we move on.
Life is hard sometimes. We gotta enjoy the good times that we have (Narnia) and learn so that we could live our real lives in the best way possible.
I don't know, that last song always gets me.
Great reaction guys!
Love from Mexico 🇲🇽
The song at the end (The Call by Regina Spektor) was written for this movie. It just got super popular outside the movie too ❤️
In this movie i love how they showed of how much time has passed since Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy were there in the first movie.
Actually Tolkien and Lewis were good friends. Ninabrick is played by Warick Davis who you may know from a little series called Harry Potter. I hate that we didn't get the 4th movie in this series, because at least with the older movies we did get the 4th one.
Or an even smaller series called Star Wars return of the Jedi
SERIOUSLY?!?! He was Reepicheep in the old BBC "Prince Caspian" and "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" - and Glimfeather in "The Silver Chair"!
I didn't recognize him!
If they ever end up making The Magician's Nephew as say, a prequel to the movies, they HAVE to get Tilda Swinton back!
It must have felt like that for the children at that time. Like the wars were going on and on; time seemed to move so slowly. They were sent far away from their parents, under a lot of rules and hardship, and they had little entertainment, so their imagination (or faith/hope/religion?) was such a solace. They felt they had spent a lot of fun time in their imagination, but in reality they are still in the same position. That’s the reason for the time difference between both worlds. (I’ve never read the books though so I don’t really know; just my thoughts from watching the movies with you guys😊)
Fun Fact about Caspian, in the book he is aged between Lucy and Edmund and never interacts with Susan
That minotaur was one of the most badass characters ever
Personally love this one even more than the first. Way sadder with the castle scene, Peter and Susan not coming back etc.
The song at the end of this movie always gets me in my feels
I can listen to it on repeat for hours
First, you should know Ben Barnes modeled his accent on Mandy Patinkin's Inigo accent from Princess Bride. Second, I don't love-love how they adapted this one, but it did have some great lines:
"It's King Edmund, actually. Just King, though. Peter's the High King. I know, it's confusing."
" The last time I didn't believe Lucy, I ended up looking pretty stupid."
"You get treated like a dumb animal long enough, that's what you become. "
"I was so tall" "Well, you were older then."
I really wish Disney and Walden Media had worked something out so they could've made the third film together.
i read all the books and shockingly found the films MUCH more exciting
Really? Naw dude…
@@whitenoisereacts im more of a movie person anyway but strangely enough i found that the books that got adaptations were kinda less interesting than the books that didn’t 👀 the boy and his horse and the magicians nephew were better than the lion the witch and the wardrobe and thats a hill i am willing to die on
37:02 The fact that the Narnians that didn’t make it were shouting, "Go, save yourselves... let us die... live to fight another day..." in their dying moments.
That takes another level of courage.
Medieval European swordsmen weren’t just brutes swinging swords. There were in fact detailed martial arts, including non weapon attacks.
I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion. But I prefer the Prince Caspian movie to the book. I find the book very boring and without great emotions, it took me a while to read. The movie has more emotion and interesting scenes
yes please watch the third one aswell, it doees drop a little in quality, but it's still worth the watch..
I'm super happy you guys decided to watch the second one... This one was always my favorite out of the trilogy!! I did get to see the 3rd one in our local theaters as a really young kid with my Mom, and I remember liking the 3rd one just fine... But... to be honest, I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked the other two.
Yessss I loved this movie so much. and Ben Barnes did amazingggg
Gotta love that mouse Reepicheep
He's so cute...,. WHO SAID THAT..,.sorry
Hey James, this is my fav Narnia movie. Glad yous guys are watching it and can't wait for the Harry Potter reactions from the new members:)
10:25: "A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" will answer that question for you
Can y'all pretty please react to
1. Flubber (Robin Williams)
2. Jack (Robin Williams)
3. Jungle 2 Jungle (Tim Allen)
*The Voyage of the Dawn Treader* is amazing...every Narnia movie has many great takeaways and this movie has a lot more...especially for youngsters...well...all humans in general...they did the best they could. If you read the Bible, you can find lots of Biblical characters here...the dwarf Trumpkin was Thomas the doubter, Aslan is (God, Jesus, the Lion of Judah) Narnia is his creation(the garden of Eden), the witch and her minions are satan and the fallen angels trying to corrupt Eden(Narnia) well...the list goes on...anyway, have fun!!!🌻
Please watch the third! You can't not finish a series, it's practically sacrilege! Plus it's based off my personal favorite Narnia book, and while it may not be the strongest movie I still like it for nostalgia reasons. Whereas Prince Caspian is my 'rainy day, I need a good cry, fantasy movie'.
We did!!! It’s on Patreon now
@@whitenoisereactswhat movie did you do last time
Did you do any of the Halloween town movies or twitches or the sequel of it
Okay, now I'm REALLY keen for you guys to watch The Punisher! Prince Caspian is played by Ben Barnes, who has an absolutely BADASS role in the Punisher series, and his acting is off the charts in it. He blew me away.
I personally like the third movie quite a bit though I understand mixed opinions. Definitely worth the watch regardless
Please reaction for the third one, I really enjoy watching you guys video 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I need reaction of The perks of being a wallflower
Something to note! Both Edmund and Lucy were the most active in leading and fighting in battle from what I remember, I think the movies kind of play down those aspects, but yeah Edmond and Lucy badass warriors so
I mean...Lewis & Tolkien WERE friends in a hilarious way.
Yes watch the third Narnia
Peters arc is very believable.
The whole issue with him is he is older. But young. Without Aslan’s (God’s) guidance, he leans on himself to be the source of wisdom, strategy, etc.
You see this with the witch who mocks him “You know you can’t do this alone”.
He’s super insecure and vulnerable, hence his coldness and arrogance.
Also seen again when Lucy meets Aslan and she tells him others didn’t believe her. And he says “And why would that stop you from coming to me?”.
Morale of the story - try to do things yourself? You’ll always fail.
you guys should watch the 3rd one too it's not as good as the second or first movie but it's still fun to watch you guys would still enjoy it either way😊.
Love it and grew up watching it my only problem with it is how a mountain grew around the stone talbe cause that would take way longer to happen to grow like that also the changing of the rest of the landscape as well
Great reaction!! Now you move on to the final movie, Chronicles of Narnia III Voyage of the Dawn Treader!!

The other big change is changing the timeline of events from the book. In the book, Caspian does not blow the horn until after his forces have lost a battle and are trapped inside Aslan's How. The kids don't meet up with Caspian until near the end of the book (Peter and Edmund show up just in time to stop Nikabirk from summoning the White Witch and Lucy and Susan were off with Aslan and don't meet Caspian until after the big victory.). Trumpkin is captured, but much later in Caspian's story. He is there with Nikabir and Trufflehunter to recuse and befriend Caspian and help him recruit his army and sings Caspian's praises after the Pevensies rescue him, so they know their goal is to put Caspian on the throne. In the movie, Trumpkin doesn't know who Caspian is, so the kids think their main purpose is to lead the Old Narnians agains the Telmarines.
Along with Harry Potter, Narnia was my childhood. I remember seeing the first movie in the theatres with my family. I had heard of the books but I hadn't read them by then. It's such a wholesome, beautiful and tragic story with very relevant messages. The music is amazing and I always get goosebumps when the main theme comes on. I love all the characters, especially the Pevensie siblings, Prince/King Caspian and Aslan of course. The actors are just perfect, especially the kids. And Liam Neeson is a perfect Aslan. He has that warmth to his voice and I can't imagine anyone else in that role. I don't know if you're religious but from a Christian perspective it takes on a whole new meaning. C.S. Lewis was a Christian and Aslan is supposed to represent Jesus Christ. However, you don't have to be religious to enjoy the books/movies.
They were planning an adaptation of The Magician's Nephew but Walden Media's contract of the series' film rights expired in 2011. The C. S. Lewis Company announced in 2013 that it had entered into an agreement with The Mark Gordon Company to produce an adaptation of The Silver Chair. However, nothing came of it. Then in 2018, the C. S. Lewis Company were said to be teaming up with Netflix to develop new film and TV adaptations of the franchise. However, it still hasn't begun production and is kind of up in the air (partly due to Covid).
I'm really sad it looks like there won't be any more movies. Some of the characters return in later books but it's been so long now and the actors have all grown up.
The Telmarins are inspired from the Spanish Conquistadors (hence Miraz and the soilders face masks designs) and the spanish inspired design in the weapons and armor. Since the Telmarins' ancestors were pirates, they casted the actors from The Mediterrian Area such as Spain and Italy as well as Mexico (and in Dr. Conrnelius case Vinent Gras is a french actor).
This is the movie I point to when I see those Peter Dinklage posts about how the new Snow White shouldn't feature Dwarves because he thinks Fairy Tail Dwarves set back little people. He didn't have a problem with it back when he was getting the check for it.
One of the biggest changes is that the main characters are older. In the book, Peter is 13, Susan is 12, Edmund is 10, and Lucy is 9. Caspian is a little younger than Peter The child actors aged up in between the the movies, and their ages are an even bigger stretch than in TLTW&TW. In the movie, Peter looks to be 17, Susan 16, Edmund 14 (Skandar Keynes obviously hit puberty), and Lucy 12 or 13. You can't write teenagers the same you would write younger kids.
this movie has surprisingly intricate politcs that flew way over my head when i was younger
idk if you guys did this one already but you should watch spiderwick chronicles. it has a really interesting concept and a lot of spooky atmosphere. perfect for october!
The ending song made me tear up so badly and even now because I can't give up on such imagination I had as a child with thesee movies it's hard to which the song says "say good bye" So Narnia has been my love for it... I am just glad you boys are bringing me back home to my childhood once more.
yeah had my heart aching hearing the song during the ending scene especially with susan and caspian. If only they aged there instead of in the first movie susan would of had a relationship with caspian for 28 years. heartbreaking knowing peter and susan knew they were getting old and that edmund and lucy were the next two to go back when they're peter and susans age and realize the same in the last movie. Though i think lucy would always have faith and believe in narnia.
Thank you guys for the reaction. You guys are my favorite reactors. And this.. is one of my favorite childhood movies..
Request: can you guys plz some day react to the new predator movie, Prey.?
I honestly totally forgot the whole operation went basically wrong cause Caspian did 2 things out of the plan, go for the professor and then go for Miraz because after the battle everyone blames Peter for being too cocky and irresponsable but...like...WHAT?? maybe, but he wasnt the only one fucking up this operation, assholes
Edmund being a superstar in this movie. Yeaaah boy, we love you! that character development!!!
also everyone's introduction to Ben Barnes...
Honestly I wish they had slaughtered every Human except for Caspian and a handful of others. Pretty much all the Humans except for Caspian and VERY few others were completely evil.
I think I learned this from the commentary years ago - Regina Spektor actually wrote the credits song for this movie and it became popular after its release!
This particular chronicle, over the other six, always had a particular place in my heart. I know most people like the 2nd one (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) way more, but I really love the more mature themes, and also the more complex plot Prince Caspian brings. All this system about the time skip, the details about how the narnians and the Kings and Queens became only legends in this world, gives it a mysterious and nosgalgic vibe that I like a lot. I aways like this stories where you can see the same places from the prequel, but changed by some important Historical event.
It's a slower chronicle, but the message about believing the Lord even when anyone believes anymore, and believing Him even when the world has changed so much that everything seems lost, is something that warms my heart. I see myself as Lucy sometimes, keeping faith when everyone has already lost. But sometimes I'm just like Trumpkin, and I need to see to believe. It feels so real to me...
It's one of my favourite chronicles.
In the beginning you joked about Gandalf and (paraphrasing here) Tolkien teaming up here... CS Lewis and Tolkien were good friends and had formed a writers group names the Inklings.
The one problem i have with this movie is such a nit picking thing. When they first get to Aslan's How and Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund walk under all the swords that the centaurs are holding up, there is a centaur child. But the cgi is off. The child has a kid sized upper body, but a full grown horse lower body. It sticks out to me and I hate it. They should have taken the time to give him a baby horse body, with some awkwardly long baby horse legs. That is all.
Lewis and Tolkien actually did have a big issue over Lewis’ storytelling. Tolkien objected massively to the concept of crossing over different mythologies, and he was also a huge detractor of the massive amount of allegory in Lewis’ work. Lewis was a big enough person to simply take it on the chin, as Tolkien credited him with keeping him motivated to finish writing Lord of the Rings.
So one thing I think a lot of people don't realize if they only ever saw the movies and have not read the books is that there have always been people who live in Narnia but during the white witches reign the people of Narnia fled to other parts of Narnia. In the books there is Narnia as in the whole place and then there's Narnia as in the country and in the first movie it only shows Narnia the country not Narnia the world and there's a lot more beyond the borders of Narnia the country. I never understood the part where they're confused that people live in Narnia when in the books you also find out that they also did Trading with other people in Narnia
I really hate Caspian tho :))) like he’s the one that screwed up the plan, and yet he blame Peter :)) I mean Peter could’ve just retreat when the plan gone wrong but I mean they’ve come this far he probably just didn’t want to miss the opportunity but Caspian straight up messed up the plan :)))
Talking over the dialogue and asking questions the dialogue answers already 🙄 ... should have called this a commentary video
Edmund is def the best in this one! That actor stole the show in every scene he was in 🤩
55:40 narnia was originally just a plain white world until Aslan breath brought life to it. The first humans was a cop and (this I maybe wrong) a baker that were given a chance to become Adam and Eve of this world.
The other humans rhat appear came from other plane of existences similar to the white witch where her world was dying.
Regina Spektor’s “The Call” at the end is a perfect fit in the ending
Back when Disney made good movies
I honestly have always loved this movie. I thought it really captured the conflicted feelings all of our human characters were going through; Caspian trying to find his place, Peter trying to adjust to not being a king (or, in the metaphorical sense of the movie, not being a kid anymore), Lucy going through that pre-teen phase of accepting her beliefs regardless of what anyone else thinks...for the time they had to do it in, the visual conflicts really helped bring that out. My biggest gripe with the film has ALWAYS been that forced, COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY "romance" between Susan and Caspian. I will die on the soapbox of "Just because a story has a girl and a boy who aren't related DOESN'T mean they have to fall in love!"
Yes!!! I so agree about the romance
So from what I read about the movie in Wikipedia, In real life, It's been a year since they were in Narnia Last time, but in Narnia time it's been 1,300 years
The first movie was a very faithful adaptation of the book. The sequal butchered the source material.
