SAME!! Every time I hear it, the nostalgia is so strong! Even though there’s another movie after this one, it really does feel like an ending in its own right because it’s the last time the Pevensie’s are all there together 😭😭😭

I think the whole point of Aslan is that he's a representation/metaphor for God... like God could fix everything wrong with the world but he doesn't... so you just asked the existential question of why does God exist if he's not going to fix anything lol the answer is whatever people believe honestly and I don't have an answer for that personally 🤷 Great reaction!

Exactly my thought not only that but these kids are sort of like his messengers like the several prophets, saints, and angels who spread his message. Plus, in a way aslan (God) is trying to see whether the humans will choose the good or evil it’s sort of a test

      God's to-do list:
      - build an anthill
      - let the ants figure it out
      - interact only to avoid ants' extinction

If I remember correctly, C. S Lewis didn’t write Aslan to be a metaphor for god…he literally is Jesus. The allegories are clear but he isn’t meant to serve as a metaphor for him, but actually Jesus, and the form and name he takes in Narnia is “Aslan” . C. S Lewis was a very religious and liked having a lot of religious allegories in his work. It was one criticism his friend Tolkien had about him 😂 Tolkien was also religious but didn’t used to be, but he disliked how heavy handed CS Lewis was with his religious connections in his books. CS Lewis actually wrote a book which was kinda directed towards Tolkien called “The screwtape letters”

Since Narnia is based in the bible, I think the point of Aslan not helping the narnians is because of faith. The people of Narnia where in the hands of the Witch for centuries before Aslan back because they had lost their faith in him, but were believing in Aslan again when the kids came. When they leave, the people started to stop believing in Aslan again and then, Aslan was out too. When Lucy says that she sees Aslan, everyone can't see him because they don't believe him anymore, but when they went after him, Aslan was there (English isn't my first language, but hope you could understand what I mean). Great video!

Yyyyeah, I've been on the Ben Barnes train since his small role in Stardust in '07, so getting him as Prince Caspian in 08, followed by two more big big movie roles in '09 and '10 was 🧑‍🍳💋 Things were kind of quiet until '16 and '17, so getting the Shadow and Bone casting in 2021 was like A GIFT 🤣 Consistent series appearances again!? 🙌 But yeah, the end of Prince Caspian with Regina Spektor's 'The Call' playing and leaving Narnia/Ben Barnes behind was an emotional roller coaster for me 🤣

The whole Susan’s growing up thing will make sense if you read the books I’m pretty sure. I won’t say anything cause I’m afraid someone wants to read it and I don’t want to spoil

@@shayr7039ok so I’ll try and break it down *SPOILERS* if anyone doesn’t want it spoiled.
Susan is kind of a metaphor for someone who has lost their faith and no longer believes in “God”/heaven (Aslan and Narnia as whole) - Later on in the story their is a train crash which kills all of the pevensies, including the parents and when they die they enter Aslan’s country (metaphor for heaven) - Susan was not one of the people who came with them. At that point in her life she was apparently more focused on her social life and other superficial things so she was “no longer a friend of Narnia” - it essentially ends with this idea that Susan could maybe one day join her siblings in Aslans country but at that point she would put their time in Narnia as nothing but childish make belief and pretend it never happened. She basically lost faith and belief in it all and wanted no part of it.

Thanks for the great reaction! 💜 A few thoughts I had while watching:
    1. Maybe I’m wrong, but maybe the reason that Lucy can see Aslan often when the others can’t is a testament to her child-like faith. The others, getting older, get more hardened in their perspective and aren’t so easily willing to believe. That idea is referenced in the Bible - in Matthew 18, when Jesus’ followers ask Him, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus answers that whoever humbles themselves like a little child, they are the greatest in heaven. God values that trusting, loving faith of a child.
    2. As much as I LOVE the Christian allegories, it IS fiction, so I can’t perfectly explain all of Aslan’s actions (as if I could explain all of God’s either tho? lol). The big question is why didn’t Aslan step in sooner? Or really… why doesn’t God step in and fix everything? I think I could answer that, but it would take me a lot of paragraphs and no one wants to read that, unless they ask for it, lol. So I won’t. But I will say this: one day, in the Narnia books, Aslan DOES put an end to all evil in Narnia - and on Earth, we’re waiting for Jesus to come and do the same thing. :-)
    3. The first movie was OUTSTANDING in my opinion, but the sequels start to fall off in quality as they are less and less like the books.
    4. Thinking about Narnia too hard makes me cry. It’s a beautiful story, but the reality hits hard. Death. The passage of time. Leaving youth behind. Leaving friends behind. I sometimes randomly get depressed about Narnia, lol. And then I remember Aslan’s Country - or Heaven, in the real world. But I don’t want to spoil the Narnia story for you. And I won’t give you an unsolicited pitch for Christianity, I guess. Just wanted to share these thoughts 💜 I’m sorry it’s so long 😭

With regards to number 2, I read a book recently called “the shack” by W.M Paul Young. It’s essentially a book about a man who lost his daughter and lost his faith in god cos he couldn’t understand why God would let his precious daughter die when she did nothing wrong. The man is visited by God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus, and essentially God tries to show him that the pain that humans inflict on each other hurts him even more so than anyone on earth, because they are all his children. I won’t try and spoil the whole book but it’s a great insight into keeping your faith during terrible times, and that blaming God for the evil in the world isn’t the answer.

    Period 😍💯 love your reactions.
The author of these books was a Christian so all the books were based on parables and stories from the Bible, Aslan being Jesus. So the first one was the crucifixion of Jesus and him coming back after 3 days x your videos bring me happiness so thanks

I remember crying soooo hard at the end because peter and susan won't return 😭 just ached my heart so much. These movies hold such a special place in my heart! I love the siblings so much, i love narnia the whole place and feel of it, i always wished i could go there in my young days like one day opening my closet and there's narnia haha. The music in these movies alwaysss get me too always got me tearing up! Also, susan isn't really that much older than caspian haha she just means cause it's been that long since they've last been there in narnian time. I enjoyed your reactions so much! Hope you react to the last one too!

Yes all the kids are kings and queens of narnia but the reason they are brought there is to learn lessons that they can take back to their real life in England. Now that Susan and Peter are all grown up and learned all the can from narnia so they no longer need to come back. Edmund and Lucy are still kids that can learn lessons from their trips to narnia so they’ll come back and help narnia whenever it needs help next. It doesn’t make total sense but Aslan makes all the decisions. And Aslan is basically God in Narnia. And Like God, we don’t always understand why Aslan makes the decisions he does. It might not always make sense to us but he has his reasons and his plans. Those plans don’t include Susan and Peter since they’ve learned everything they can.

Aslan is metaphore for God - and even religious people cannot fully understand God. That is point of religion - you have Faith, but as one person I knew once told: "If you understood God, he would stop being God". If you believe in gods or God (and I do believe), then you have to accept that you won't understand why they allow something to happen and just because they watch over people (if you believe) that doesn't equal them bowing to people and doing everything for them. Same with Aslan.

22:40 Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen. As the High King, Peter holds power over all the sovereigns of Narnia. Technically he holds more legal authority than Caspian. Peter just doesn’t force people to follow him purely based on rank.

It’s so interesting to me that the other three - Ed Lucy and Susan - you can absolutely see the maturity they got from having lived into adulthood in narnia. But Peter. Dude he’s such an annoying manchild for a lot of this film lol.

    • @wwhn
      @wwhn  Місяць тому +1

Lol THAT PART. he’s literally an entitled manchild 😂

  • @bryanawoodson3724
    @bryanawoodson3724 Місяць тому +2

The only explanation/parallel I can think of for why Aslan doesn’t come every time he’s needed could have to do with the prophecies that are mentioned in the first movie. Since these are basically Christian allegories, it could be kind of like in the Bible when Jesus doesn’t do things the way people would expect, it’s because He has to fulfill prophecy to prove that He’s the Son of God, because even He has to abide by the way things were intended. So maybe Aslan only comes around when he does in order to fulfill prophecy or to also allow the Narnians and Pevensie children to have more free will/control over how things play out 🤷🏻‍♀️ this isn’t canon, just a guess!
Edit: ALSO, different topic but I LIVE for you thirsting over Ben Barnes the whole movie because that man was my OG CRUSH AWAKENING, honey 👏

Aslan = Jesus; Jesus Christ (Word of God; etc.)
    God, not a microwave
Narnians = Israelites (Jacob was given a new name Israel); humans
Narnians must be willing to accomplish goodness.
    It is by spiritual law.
It starts within flowing out into the physical world.
That is why Aslan can not be there all the time.
Narnians must accomplish in willingness not utilizing Aslan as a microwave (easy convenience).
Thinking humans will or should always be there for me would make me seem inconsiderate.
"Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be answered. Ask and you shall receive."
When Narnians seek Aslan, they will find and receive.
Hope you watch the third film.
Keep up the cool work of reaction videos🤗
