OMG I'm not religious and i started singing and dancing
Love this, went through a huge Gospel phase (Im not very religous) in the late 90's. Use to go to huge concerts in Flint and me and my friend, who is religous, were the only white people there. This stuff moves me to my core

Joe May is one of my favorite gospel singers
Had this man agreed to do secular music, he would have left almost everyone else in the dust in the 1950s. He is a better talent than almost anyone else I can think of from the early days of "rock and roll".
Even the later rock singers. This guy is unreal
His children were very talented too.
I agree with you to a point, he would have been competing against other shouters like Big Joe Turner, Roy Brown and Wynonie Harris
@@d820m No disrespect to any of those three, but for me, Joe May just seems to have an intensity to him that sets him apart.

R.H Harris was featured on the TV show Jubilee Showcase out of Chicago. Unfortantely, that stuff can't be uploaded to UA-cam b/c of the heavy copyrights. People continue to upload clips from that particular show, but it can eventually lead to the termination of folks' accounts, as it has been done in the past.
