I played this for my Granddaughter, while Grandma was fixing her hair. You should have seen her face😂. 55yrs ago that was the jam. God bless you for this great memory! Praise the Lord!!
It did. It included the Gospel Festival from 1965 and this one, which is from 1966. It also includes some country music festival from the 1960's. I cannot remember the exact name, but someone made a copy for me. It used to be available on Amazon. May still be on there.
I'll have to do a search online b/c the person who sent it to me just titled it "Gospel Legends." I know that's not the name of it. And on the disc, the title is in another language. I'll get back to you as soon as I find an answer.
5/1/2023 I've been singing this song all day long I kept on searching till I found the KING of Kings...this blessed me Gloryyyyyy Hallelujah 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
11/8/23 Same thing. Thanks for letting us know. You are not alone. This happens to me almost every day. One of these groups is always to blame. It won't go away till you play it two or three times.🎉🎉
Hallelujah! Dorothy Norwood and singers were on fire for Jesus, that's holy Ghost praise unto the Lord, searching for the King of Kings. Our church still sings this song, lifts the holy spirit everytime. Glory to God bless Dorothy still singing as a senior citizen.
This is timeless. Theres so much historical context found in this video as well. The clothing of the era, the style, even seeing the segregated congregation is significant. Thanks so much for the upload!
I definitely understand. This was filmed overseas, where color really didn't matter, and they may not be shown in this particular clip, but there are actually other African Americans sitting throughout the audience.
BACK WHEN CHURCH WAS CHURCH RESPECTFUL APPEARANCE AND THE MUSIC WAS NOT CLUB TONE IT HAD A MEANING TO REACH LOST SOULS..... IM KEEP ON SEARCHING FOR YOU ABBA....#KEEPGOD1ST
You said a mouthful there. I’m 44 and this is what I grew up on. Gospel music today seems to only be a moment of entertainment. It’s not the case for all of them but the majority of them, yes. There are only a few songs that are pure and meant to usher us into the very presence of God. I’m a drummer and have played for many churches and there have been a few times that the praise team sung unto God like never before that I couldn’t even play because it touched my heart so much. I miss those times ❤❤
Crazy thing is, this is the first time I've seen dorothy as a young woman. I've looked at plenty of caravans videos from the 60's and could never seem to find her. She was a power house.
Dorothy Norwood wasn't with the Caravans as long, before doing her own thing. She did lead a few songs with the Caravans, including "Standing In The Need of Prayer."
I just spent all day with Aunt Dot and then I log on here and see this. lol. She was reminiscing about the old performances. She is still just as feisty today as she was here in this video. THANK YOU SOOOOO much for sharing this Rowoches!
And can you see how mesmerised those white folks were by these black performers. Especially in the gospel. I.m sure they were captivated by that sound, the rhythm, the style, not to mention the sincerity in which black people sang. There was nothing like it.
Shonda Gospel diva is Mrs. Dorothy Norwood your auntie. That's cool and amazing. I would love to meet and sing with her before her time comes to go home. She's one of my favorites.
@@keithmuncy2165 Yes. And she's preparing to release her 53rd album entitled, "The Journey Continues"... the late Bishop Rance Allen is on there. I'm so excited for her... and honored to have her in my life!!!
They just don't sing like this nowadays. Everybody wants to show off how much they can run. Give me some gutbucket gospel singing with scrawls and high sopranos any day. I could slap the whole group right now! (That's a compliment, not to be taken literally.)
As Christians, we must pray without ceasing. When we pray for others, we are actually being blessed. The most valuable blessing of all, is to bless someone else, and in return, God will bless you spiritually. That is the greatest gift of all. We all need prayer. But to pray for someone else, is the true blessing. Your enemy is not your enemy. This person is still loved by God. They are misguided souls. This is what Christ is telling us. Pray for those who hate you, and dispise you. God WILL, answer your prayers. Love, peace and happiness.
I LOVE MZ DOROTHY NORWOOD - FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN A MUCH YOUNGER VERSION OF HER! NEVER KNEW SHE HAD HER OWN SINGERS - JUST KNEW HER FROM SINGING w/MZ ALBERTINA WALKER & THE CARAVANS FROM WAYYY BACK IN THE DAY! SHE WAS A DARLING & WAS PACKING POWERHOUSE VOCALS BACK IN THE DAY ALONG WITH HIGH HOLY GHOST ENERGY! #goheadmzvictoryismine, #and mzsomebodyprayedforme
I don't know what year this occurred, but I would assume it's the 1960's. From the language in the beginning, it was shot in Germany. Think about it? This may be just 20 years after World War II? Yet, Germany, a country that fought a war over being the superior race, welcomed these great artists. If it wasn't for many of these European countries, we wouldn't have this wonderful footage. This is also true with black secular artists. Thank God Europe wasn't so damaged by racism- that it could not see the magnificent skill of these artists. Four hundred years later, and America still doesn't see it.
Great 'performance'. And that's what it was a 'performance'. No honor and glory to God or worshipping Him. No reverence. But they sure did put on a dynamite performance. That's for sure.
Woke up singing this morning singing this song. Have we stopped searching for the King of Kings today?
Listen that’s how I was last week and today and I finally just searched for the song
I played this for my Granddaughter, while Grandma was fixing her hair. You should have seen her face😂. 55yrs ago that was the jam. God bless you for this great memory! Praise the Lord!!
A real HAPPY 89th Birthday to Mrs. Dorothy Norwood and really ALL the best to her ... (2023-0529)
Praise you Jesus!! Glory!!!
7/13/24. I woke up singing this song! We used to sing this song when I was a young girl!
Two things were wrong with this performance: 1. I couldn't be there to witness it in person and 2. It wasn't long enough.
Oh yes!! Lol!!
Didn't this come out on DVD some time ago? Is it still available?
It did. It included the Gospel Festival from 1965 and this one, which is from 1966. It also includes some country music festival from the 1960's. I cannot remember the exact name, but someone made a copy for me. It used to be available on Amazon. May still be on there.

I wanted to know why can't they play this kind of good gospel music on the radio now.

She bears a resemblance to Diana Ross here.
These sisters brought the house down!
I said the same thing I thinks it the wig
II thought the same thing 😁
Love, love, love Dorothy Norwood! And best of all, she's never lost her passion, still singing with the same enthusiasm after all these years.
Yes, Sir. Mama Dorothy Norwood is still on The LORD's side. Praise HIS HOLY Name, Brother.
She did that.Even then they rocketed the audience.

Hey Dwayne, Do you know if the soprano is Roxie Bibbs?
Hey, I'm just seeing this. I know we've already discussed this, but yes, that's Ms. Roxie.
What are all their names I just know a few ?
I don't know all of the names, but I do know Dorothy Norwood and Shirley Wahls...both leading.
