- Behold the mighty Blumes® Low Signal Shredder!
Blumes® is an all-analog tri-mode soft clipping bass overdrive that carries the torch of the classic screamer circuit but has a voice all its own. While embodying most of the characteristics and features of our beloved Plumes® Small Signal Shredder, this modified circuit has double the gain and a deeper bass response to retain all the low end. It utilizes internal bipolar power, which gives you more dynamics and all the headroom you could ever desire. The end result is a three-dimensional tone with added clarity that really pushes a nice tube amp over the edge.
By the way, 6-stringers, don’t fret- this is also the perfect pedal for all of your deep overdrive needs, especially you drop-tuned masters. We see you.
And much like the Plumes, this pedal offers three different clipping options for your desired low end face melting needs.
Mode 1 is symmetrical LED clipping that utilizes a pair of light emitting diodes. This is the crunchiest setting the Blumes has to offer. This signal is less compressed and way more open with tons of output for when you really want to go wild.
Mode 2 is a clean pure OpAmp gain boost mode. This eliminates the soft clipping diodes altogether and leaves you with straight OpAmp drive. This will be the loudest output with the fullest frequency response, which can be used as a clean boost when the Gain control is set below 11 o’clock.
Mode 3 is an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement similar to the stock screamer but with more output and clean clarity, which provides more transparent tone. Using this mode gives a warmer low-end response and lower output. It’s fuzzier with half the output and is the most compressed. If you like the fuzzy ends of distortion with a clean undertone, you’ll love this setting. We guarantee it.
So take this magical box and make the thunder rumble, the tidal waves crash, and your unappreciative bandmates take notice. No longer will you be buried under those high-pitched guitars, crashing cymbals, and your singer’s overused falsetto. It’s our time to shine, baby! Make it rumble.
Controls
Gain: This controls the amount of drive.
Tone: More bass to the left, more middles in the middle and more treble to the right.
Level: This controls the output volume.
Clipping Modes (3-Way Toggle):
1. Symmetrical LED clipping - More crunch and compression.
2. No clipping - Wide open OpAmp drive for clean boost.
3. Asymmetrical silicon diode clipping - More transparency with a loose feel.
Each Blumes pedal is forged in the deepest, lowest caverns of Akron, Ohio, USA. As with all our products, it has a Lifetime Warranty.

Somebody call Lou Barlow
Jason Loewenstein too.
YES! All of these tones are massive! I couldn’t be more excited about the Blumes. Exactly what us bassists needed. 💛🤩
Rock on!
Super pumped to get my hands on this! Thanks EarthQuaker!!!
We just wanted a blend knob on the Plumes!
Will have to try this though.
Mode 1 riff blew the back of my head off.
🙌🏽 We’re not worthy, we’re not worthy!🙌🏽
Brilliant! Sounds spot on for bass. Thanks for thinking about us!!! 🤘🏻🥳
You bet!
Dude!! Thank you guys so much--its like you heard me wishing for this. I am a huge fan of your pedals, especially Plumes...i have a couple of them and have given a couple to friends as well. I use one on my guitar board and one on my bass board, and i love them...but one specifically for bass is what i really wanted. Thank you EQD 👽
Our pleasure!
Sounds dope, would love to hear this on a baritone guitar!
Now I want one of those!
Phenomenal!
I’ve been in love with the Plumes on bass since I bought one at EarthQuaker Day 2019, so this release is super exciting!!! Thank you!
Yay! Thank you for your support!
RAAAD! You folks are crushing it. Repping Ohio hard. I'm in Vermilion, hoping for an official eqd bass fuzz called the woolybear 😂
Really hope the trend of EQD releasing bass pedals continues. Love my Cloven Hoof, but if they released a Cloven Hoof with a blend (and even more bass-friendly EQ) that would be my dream pedal.
Thank you! I warned people for years that the Plumes is not a good option for bass players due to how much low end you lose on it. Might sound ok in a bedroom but soon as you kick it on in a full band you get completely lost. I was called a tone snob for ages but I feel almost vindicated now that Earthquaker have designed a unit specifically for bass. And as expected, it sound incredible! Preordering a unit asap!
Thanks! Blumes is a special one!
I got mine today. Does not disappoint.
Love to hear it!
Sounds pretty great and with some very tasty tonal, gain, and clipping options. Just a thought that having a dry low blend pot could make even some more tonal possibilities.
Cheers for an actual bass focused pedal!
🙌🍻
This is ten of the gnarliest minutes I've been legally "above" in this state. I love you.
u ok?
@@hglenn2kMy man's vibing, don't worry
This makes me want to build a pedal board just for my bass!
WOAH...How did you make me spend more money after Christmas... Jesus.. that pedal sounds sooo good though!! I cannot wait.
When i thought the plumes couldn't get any better.
Cheers! you're my favourite pedal maker at the moment!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for playing it like it owed you money
I just bought a boss bass overdrive lol
Another overdrive/dirt pedal wont hurt. I have the plumes and I love it for bass and guitar but I might have to upgrade here soon.
These tones made me think of the bass sounds in the Scott Pilgrim movie. This is a very good thing.
What a compliment!
I've used a Plumes on bass and was underwhelmed by the resulting mid-push and loss of low-frequency fundamentals. The Blumes sounds like it retains all the low end and adds a lovely thickness. Time to shake some walls!
Sounds fantastic! We're gonna shoot a demo with it using an 8 string to see how it sounds with extended range guitars 👍
🤘🤘🤘
Sounds awesome
Cheers🙌
wow... it has tones that sound like a sunn or acoustic that's super pushing a 4x12, and a bunch of other stuff besides... definitely going on the wishlist
🤘
Get out of my head. I have been watching youtube videos and staring at a Plumes in my cart for about 3 days. Made up my mind for me. First time I have ever bought a pedal on launch day.
Glad you love it!
I'm ready for the color ways
dang first the Zoar now this... EQD gonna be my entire gain staging!
Why not!!😎
Wish it had a blend knob.
Love the Cloven Hoof with my bass, but this is some nasty filth right here 💪
🅱lumes
😤
Hoping we also see the Bizumitas, the Boar, and the Boof
not the Boof😂
hizumitas already keeps a lot of low end
I used for a long time the regular Plumes… loved it, but ended up selling it cause it needed some more low end retention. The Blumes seems to be the answer to that
Cool stuff
Even if I didn't have basses, I think I would need this just to match my Plumes 😅
I'd like to hear it played through a completely clean and transparent solid state amp to get a better idea of what the pedal is doing.
Awesome🤘
Ah man I JUST got the plumes for my bass!!! This is making me reconsider it! Haha
Siiiiiick. Instant must-have.
💯
I've been playing it for bit -- first impression it's a good "alway on" pedal (like your demo) with lots of useful sounds but the volume difference when you engage / disengage is too much of a jump unless the level is very low. And there's no way to quickly move among the different modes unless you have a dedicated hand tweaker. A blend knob, second stomp, and expression pedal would do just that. But that's a different pedal.
So sick, why is low signal nasty harmonic gnarliness not loved by everybody? It is the best
I'd love to hear some synyhs ran through this puppy!
Oh yes!
Make a bass version of the Westwood, call it the Bestwood!
Yes!
Just insta-bought one! SN 787 on the way!
🤝 Enjoy!!!
i wanna see a guitar demo, for baritones and 7 strings and drop tuned etc!! (and maybe on a regular guitar to compare to plumes? is it the same?)
Guitar demo will come! Blumes features most of the characteristics of our beloved Plumes® Small Signal Shredder, but this circuit has double the gain and a deeper bass response to retain all the low end
This is amazing but please... I need this in black.
I wish it was available in India
i bought a walrus badwater to record bass and it is great except i don't love the drive section. adding this before it will be my perfect solution.
Good choice!
I’m in love
💘
This is gonna sound great on baritones and down tuned guitars
You got that right!!
I need this I'm my life. And every other bass oriented pedal that EQD decides to produce. I own 23 earthquaker pedals, and have yet to get a plumes yet, let alone a blumes. Both are now inevitable.
Wow!! Thats amazing.. here's to adding 2 more to your collection! Thanks for your support!🍻❤️
I need this...
Torn between this and the Zoar for bass. Any thoughts on what differentiates them in terms of player needs?
The Blumes has an overall deeper bass response over the Plumes. I would say it has the edge over the Zoar as far as low end gain, as it was primarily designed with Bass in mind. The Blumes also features twice the amount of Gain that the Plumes has to offer. The Zoar features a 3 band EQD in which to better shape your overall tone. This definitely comes in handy while using with Bass. Honestly, it will come down to your matter of preference on whether you prefer the Zoar or Blumes for bass. Try both!
I just bought the Zoar a month ago. I just ordered this tonight. Both sound great and have different voices.
No Blend? 🤔
The fact that I saw this pedal right when I bought the Plumes for my bass makes me a tiny bit sad. Don't get me wrong, it sounds amazing anyway.
6:14 holy shit
It chonky ❤
I love Portmanteaus!
The video would have been better with a more "pure" recording. Using an Ampeq SVT w/ 8x10 even an 80$ Bass sounds badass. I wanna hear what the pedal itself sounds like ;-)
Thanks for the feedback! We figured we’d put it to the test in a “real life” like scenario :)
Well now, thats some real tasty low end. I dare say you've done it again Jamie. Will hand over hard earned viking money for blumes as soon as it is available.
Peace
Its available today!!
@@EarthQuakerDevicesDone!
The phone number in the description really works! 🤣 Leave a voicemail!
It was the zoar for me!
Damn the Rage In BLUMES
If you get Judy Blume to do a signature color I will buy it. Judy Blume is the best.
❤️📘
I have been using the Plumes on bass for quite a while now and couldn't be happier. So I'm on the fence with this one.
Now we need the bass Hoof. The Boof.
Tell Juan
Juan is hip!!
Judy Blume(s)
Blumin' feckin' hell 😮😆
🤘
Where is the clean blend ?
Birst
Balls to the wall Bass.
Might combine this with my Fuzz War
gnarlyy
🅱️ L U M E S
Wow... No more LS 2 for my plumes
Lol I’m in the same boat
I personally think clean blending is still the best way to go, but it’s nice that it won’t be necessary with the Blumes
Exactly!
But how does this sound on a 30” baritone? 🤔
It'll rip on a baritone!! Defintely designed with baritones and drop tuned guitars in mind
Blumes bass fumes has that phat low end that will rattle that stubborn nugget loose.
Yeah but how does it sound on guitar?
It sounds massive on guitars too! Especially in drop tunings😈
8 string guutar???
💪💪💪
🅱️lumes
Is it 99$??
Yes!
@@EarthQuakerDevices I would love to do a demo I’m a inspiring studio artist I for some bass skills
Thank F*ck. I’m going to be pissed if it actually turns out to kill your low end tho 😂. Gonna get one.
I’m afraid I just Blumes myself
Bye bye darkglass distortion
🎤 😫 🎸 🔊 🔊 🔊 🔊
why do ANY builders put out ANY bass pedal without a blend? 🙄
This is useless without unprocessed sound
😆
Lol that’s like the worst sound demo LOL but I get the point
