Fun fact: Teddy Roosevelt had a daughter named Alice, who was 17 when her father became president. She was a rebellious teenager way ahead of her time. She smoked cigarettes, gambled, drove at excessive speeds, had a pet snake, and bluntly spoke her mind about anything and everything. She was politically opinionated and would often butt in on her father’s meetings in the White House. Despite her uncouth behavior, she was quite popular socially. When a reporter once asked Teddy to comment on his daughter’s behavior, he responded: “I can do one of two things. I can be President of the United States, or I can control Alice. I cannot possibly do both.” 🤣👍🏻 … Alice lived to be 96 years old and passed away in 1980.
Note to self: If a giant Sasquatch monster destroys your campsite, invades your camp at night, you shoot at it and miss, it comes back the next day and destroys your camp a second time…….maybe you shouldn’t stay at that place another night.
That's what I was thinking, I would have gotten the hint after the first day's situation. This was a different time back then though, and these were a different breed of men who made a living in the mountains.
Back then men never wanted to admit their fears. Their honor and respect depended on their bravery and lack of cowardice, hence they overstayed their welcome.
@@Justice43211 Some Native American folklore/ oral tradition speaks of giants coming through portals to eat them. I can't remember the tribe but think they were in Arizona or someplace in the arid desert parts of the south or maybe Mexico, they built their homes into the sides of sheer rock faces among cliffs some 80 feet or meters high to try and avoid their assailants grasp. There's no trace of the tribe(s) and much of their belongings were left behind in their houses and laid out like they never left.
Several people have asked where this story takes place, it is in The Beaverhead Mountains that separate Idaho and Montana which separate the wisdom and the salmon forks as Baumen mentions in the tale.
I don’t care what people think about Theodore Roosevelt, when I first heard about him and his countless accolades, I immediately became a fan and respected everything about him. The guy got shit done, and he was very fearless, intelligent, charismatic and tough. The man embodies the heart and soul of a warrior and seen why so many people loved and respected him. Theodore Roosevelt was most definitely the spirit of the United States and a true legend of the 1900’s, despite his legend starting and growing in the end of the 1800’s.
@Lizard King- That’s your opinion, I do value it, and this is where people may have a simple disconnect from what I was really saying. It’s a simple jest of wording that so many people do, and it was supposed to come of as….(example: this one person is great, and I don’t care if many don’t like him, myself and others do and we will look up to them because of the accolades and crazy adventures and feats that they have pulled off, to actually win me over little by little, and even if some of the tales are tall, they still grabbed my attention and put a smile on my face). Nowadays I notice that we all can’t like some things and past human beings despite never meeting them and only hearing stories of them that get us intrigued, without getting criticized for it. I don’t have to love and worship certain historic individuals, but I can be a fan of and respect the way Theo carried himself and some of the awesome actions from the many tall tales he found himself in. If you don’t mind me asking, have you ever been a fan of and respected the actions of past historical figures?? There’s people that respect JFK There’s people that respect Lincoln There’s people that respect Doc Holliday There’s people that respect John Dillinger and he was a bank robber. The reason for that respect is the way they carried themselves and some of the crazy stories told about them that make many people be in shock by what they are hearing about those past human beings and just say to themselves, geez, those guys were real characters huh. You didn’t offend either, it’s all good, I like seeing what others may think. Remember, when I said I don’t care what people think, I mean it as a jest.
@@bamxire8845 yup lol 😂 The man was a character, and it’s little things like that, which tell us the type of shenanigans that past historical figures got themselves into. They were human, just like everyone else, and at times they were pushed beyond their human limits and managed to survive, then also become stronger and more intelligent because of those challenges. The good things you read about could actually be inspiring to many other people who are afraid to stand up to some challenges, but seen that tougher challenges were overcome and can be done. Michael Jordan may have had a psychopathic will to succeed and be the very best at whatever he set his mind to, and to actually see recorded and documented events where he took certain things so personal against his opponents. Even if it’s one little joke comment by another player, coach or entire team, it will set him off to completely obliterate that chosen target. I know that mindset can be toxic for some people, but I find it very fascinating and entertaining. Billy the Kid was another fascinating personality, for good lord, he made a James Bond type pun right before he shot the guy that was guarding him when he was being held by the Marshals and bounty hunters which he was being transported to be hanged by them. I forgot if the guard’s/bounty hunter’s name was Dave or Bill, but right before Billy shot him as he was escaping, he chuckled and said, how’s it going Dave, and then shot him dead. Supposedly people back then said that Dave had it coming because of how poorly and inhumane he treated outlaws and convicted people, and Billy was just getting his own brand of justice against a cruel bounty hunter. Sorry for the long message, I just find all types of historical figures fascinating, unique and at times inspirational with some of the incredible feats that they accomplished.

"The Long Walk" by Polish Army officer Slavomir Rawicz was a great book. Rawickz was captured by the Russians in 1939 during the Nazi/Russian invasion of Poland and sent to the Gulag. The book details how Rawicz and a group of prisoners escaped a Gulag camp, and went on foot across Siberia, China, and Tibet, finally arriving in India. Along the way they encountered a very hostile group of Yetis in the Himalaya Mountains, but fortunately escaped unharmed. The scene in the book describing this encounter is very suspenseful.

For sure there were other motives besides preserving wildlife. If you go to the interpretive center outside of Pisgah National Forest near Brevard NC, you'll learn that homesteaders were kicked off their family land. They didn't give the land back to the Indigenous people who it rightly belonged to.. wonder why.. the parts of Smoky Mtns prohibited to civilians (only Indigenous and Govt can go) hide caves where the "little people" live.... it's also well known that certain areas of the Grand Canyon are blocked off from people traveling there and it's said that's because there's evidence of something the Govt wants to keep under wraps there. I really don't think the Govt cares as much about preserving wildlife as it does about keeping secrets from American people.
they did? i just finished the journals of the corps and despite the spelling being pretty wild at times, i couldn't find anything about wild men. That being said, if i had one wish granted, it would be to travel to kentucky in 1810, to get chummy with boone and, more importantly, colter. i bet they had some amazing tales we don't know about anymore.

Great writing in those days, great story. Great narration of the video too. Teddy Roosevelt was a bad ass. He coined one of my favorite sayings: "Speak softly and carry a big stick."
I saw something similar but smaller when driving down a large wooded lot with a friend in the Houston area. It was like a tiny demon with a long white beard and what I can describe as an old man human face with a total height of 2 feet. The hair was mostly white and covered the entire body, being longer for the beard. The skin was paper white with bluish tint that you could see behind the body hair. It was extremely fast and could stand on its hind legs but then run faster on four legs. It was running through a clearing at night and we caught it by surprise at night directly in our headlights as we went through. Looking back at it now, with the benefit of Google Maps, I realize that was the largest wooded lot for a long while in the city. On the other side of the wooded lot is a old folks home. I didn't see it alone and the surroundings aren't normal for a cryptid sighting. It was in a large city far from large natural areas. Are these natural, alien, spiritual? Was is living off the energy of the old people, was it the soul of a newly departed or a natural hybrid?
Sounds like the description of a little person. I’m Native American and growing up I heard stories about blue or green “little people.” Never chase after one, it could end badly. A medicine man who was a friend of my family always brought candy and tobacco for the little people when we would go into the forest.
@@nomanmcshmoo8640 He always used those gross pastel multicolored candies they sell at farm stores. Never knew why, but I always take some tobacco. What does it hurt?
In the Philippines they have a bigfoot-type creature called the kaprè, usually seen up in the trees in remote jungle areas. However there are certain areas where the local people refer to giant bats as kaprè as well. And of course, it’s only the jungle area people who believe, and the city people just laugh and regard it as myth or fairy tales.
@@Samanta-van-laaryep that’s the reality is that humans that do deny that other living breathing beings other than us humans exist are just in denial and that’s not ignorance that’s pure stupid! Horrible creatures exist out there? A shark is a creature that can definitely kill a human. But I like to think that’s just not as terrifying because it’s not foreign to me it’s not intelligent as humans are to know how to go on land and kill us. Besides I’m certain no doubt that early humans were terrified of the new creatures they encountered like sharks bears polar bears hippos alligators. But these animals we humans can kill with guns and if there’s enough humans then with swords too!!! But if there’s a creature out there so smart that it’d take mabey 10 humans to kill it? We've got them in Australia too. We call them Yowies. There seems to be two main types , tall hairy man like a Yeti, and a smaller pygmy version that are considered mischievous dangerous in Aboriginal stories... We've got bunyips too. They live in waterholes and drown people. No one that's ever seen one has lived, so no one knows what they actually look like. What's even worse is the damn dropbears. When your bushwalking keep looking up... They live in gum trees. As you can imagine, sitting under a gum tree beside a waterhole in the Australian bush can be dangerous.
This happened in Montana. In the 2000's, in an area a few hours north, a man cutting firewood by himself went missing and was found mutilated. The sheriff said it was a bear attack, but I wanna know what wild bear isn't deterred by the sound of a chainsaw running full throttle.
Could be the sound of the chainsaw that aggravated the animal….whatever it was. Speaking of whatever it was, most likely the military went in there and killed most of those creatures. That’s why there aren’t many left and they’re hard to find.
Theodore Roosevelt is not only one of my favorite 3 Presidents, he’s also one of my favorite historical figures, with an extremely interesting psychological makeup which also makes reading about him time very well spent. And I’ve read just about every biography about him there is! So, one thing I can say with confidence, after reading all those books (including a few of his own), is that *the reason Roosevelt included this incident in one of his books is bc he believed the incident happened....if he had not believed the old trapper, that story NEVER would have made it into his book.* But TR surely realized that, since he hadn’t seen the incident himself, he would need to carefully choose his words and distance himself a bit, which is what he did. I’m also sure that this wasn’t the only encounter he heard about!

Great work love these stories, I always knew something has been hidden in our national parks. Every single time I see this story I just have to listen to it again. Bob Gymlin tells it so well. And my rough theory is that the Sasquatch stopped showing up in the fossil record after they realized that being known and seen by human beings is detrimental to their survival. So that’s when the species began hiding their dead. I’ve heard many stories of the other Sasquatch in the tribe gathering the remains of the dead and carrying them off. Gigantopithacus were last found from ten thousand years ago. That’s a fraction of a fraction of a blink of an eye in archeology. And even then all we ever found was a tiny bit of jaw bone. Not to mention that there are stories of people finding the odd Sasquatch corpse. I remember a group of loggers who found a Sasquatch corpse that was crushed by a falling tree. In these extremely rare instances the government has covered the truth up.
@@mobydickswife9512 that is the question every single outdoorsman has asked themselves they may be connected things the government can't let normal people find out about
@@mobydickswife9512 It's not necessarily the government who hides things. It's a religious mindset that hides things mostly through ignorance. Evolution is like a religion. People who believe in it usually don't do well hearing about undiscovered species in their backyard. Pride acts like a blindfold, people think they know everything and have lost their sense of childlike adventure. They don't think there are mysteries still to be solved. We're all told we're here by chance and dinosaurs died millions of years ago. That's a pretty ugly thing to promote and it stagnated people's vision. I enjoy reading old accounts of dragons and sea monsters. Reminds me that just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean it isn't there. I don't know exactly how old the Earth is, but I do believe the world is one of a kind and put here by divine grace. It's one big miracle. I believe the men who said they saw oversized lizards and giants. I believe the old stories of a global flood. Makes sense according to the fossil record, why isn't that a theory being offered to the youth? I believe there are many things still alive and roaming the woods undiscovered, why aren't people being educated on that? It goes back to a religious mindset and a stubborn ideology. People laugh at this stuff. They laugh at bigfoot and make people who've seen him ashamed. Modern science and the current popular theories don't allow for unbelievable things. It only allows things within its tiny narrative of our existence. I used to think that way, until I saw a mountain lion in the woods of West Virginia. They say there are no mountain lions there. They're wrong about so many things.
There is a suggestion that the story is from teddy himself. Normally he goes into detail about the people he talks about. The thought being that he wanted to talk about something he experienced, but with the cutout of "I heard this from a guy"
... it is so nice to come across a story like this .. as a little boy , i used to spend the summertime with my grandparents , on several occasions , we were told never to go to far into the forest , at times we would hear these unearthly cries for day's and day's, when i asked my grandmother , she would just say , it's the big hairy man , he's in mourning .. don't be afraid , we have an understanding , we don't go where they live and they don't come where we live..
Is the connection I was looking for. One person noted that parks and services are places where sightings of these happen and where people go missing. Rangers aren't allowed to use modern trucks or chainsaws to maintain trails . So I wondered why the president made the national parks and visited them all . It was to preserve them and protect people.
Yes. Watch David Paulides' CanAm Missing 411 Project, videos. He's a really nice man - retired police officer and SWAT commander, turned full time investigator into the unusually high number of Missing Persons in our National Parks. He researches cases, travels to the locations, speaks with the authorities, and compiles maps, similarities, and trends, between cases. It's very interesting and thought provoking. And, he leaves it up to you to decide what you think may be happening.

Sasquatch doesn't murder people. The fact the tracks looked more bear like is homage to a dogman or skinwalker. Sasquatch make people disappear, they leave no evidence. A dogman would definitely do this.
If you really think that sasquatch dont kill people your crazy. The Dennis Martin case is a perfect example of a sasquatch not only kidnaping a child but they never found so much as a shoe lace or drop of blood.
I'd expect nothing less from the child of Teddy Roosevelt
Thanks for sharing that. I'm feeling compelled to learn more about the President. I've always thought of him as adventurous.
He was quoted once as saying "I can either run the country or I can raise Alice, but I cannot do both".

Yeah, they overstayed their welcome.

His son I believe said that about his father T.R.
There’s people that respect JFK
There’s people that respect Lincoln
There’s people that respect Doc Holliday
There’s people that respect John Dillinger and he was a bank robber.

@@bamxire8845 yup lol 😂
The man was a character, and it’s little things like that, which tell us the type of shenanigans that past historical figures got themselves into.

In the book 'The Long Walk" chapter 22 is an incredible experience by men coming across two of these creatures.

Thank you Teddy Roosevelt for establishing America's National Parks!! 🤍 perhaps he's always known their secrets.

Skinwalker?

I do believe they bury their dead, although scavengers and natural processes will quickly "disappear" a body...
WHY would the government hide information about Sasquatch? What possible reason would they do that?
@@mobydickswife9512 maybe so they couldn't be sued for having knowledge of monsters by their next of kin?

I like the part where Teddy says something along the lines of "yeah hes a superstitious german, but you know how they are"
... it is so nice to come across a story like this .. as a little boy , i used to spend the summertime with my grandparents , on several occasions , we were told never to go to far into the forest , at times we would hear these unearthly cries for day's and day's, when i asked my grandmother , she would just say , it's the big hairy man , he's in mourning .. don't be afraid , we have an understanding , we don't go where they live and they don't come where we live..
Where was this?
They were stolen from natives. They disrespected and carved their faces on the holy mountain. This great president of yours encouraged the massacre of EVERY native "see a nit pick a flea"...this "big stick" he carried is still being used to oppress Natives and Latin America. Goodbye
@@karliereddfan true. You know what else I recently realized? California wild fires . They weren't a yearly issue till settlers came to the state largely in the 1870's . Before that indigenous peoples did not have that problem. Now we've come to accept it as a normal thing. Why?
@@raymonherrera3358 no animals were driven to extinction before either. All humans of all races should have a problem with this. Those people are still in power smh
@@karliereddfan that just supports my theory that indigenous people were not primitive but highly advanced minimalist and that the human role on earth is to manage wildlife conservation and preservation. Why else would we be omnivore with two types of teeth and able to live off meat or vegetable?
This is my fave channel. Pls make more!! You have the best stories and narration
Am I correct that you went from 1k to 100k subscribers in a year? That's absolutely incredible and well deserved. Love this channel 🙏🏻
There are probably more but they went missing...
It's bc ppl are tired of woke bs, msm, "celebrities", and just want some entertainment
Another interesting account and very well told. I subscribed weeks ago but only just got notification of this one !
combing through comments on your videos...people love ya...keep up the great work.

Balls of steel lmao
absolute madlad lol
Holy shit
Thanks for your videos for the sake of awareness for the missing in national parks.
Whoever does the pictures has done an awesome job! They can be beautiful but also very haunting at the same time🤔
That is exactly how I found you. Love the thank you! Would love the collaboration! Love both channels. Love the amount of research you do! That means the most!
So it is thanks to Sasquatch first, than Baumann and finally Teddy Roosevelt that lead to creation of national parks we have today. I'd say Teddy knew way more than it is described in the book......
Found your channel yesterday. I’m hooked. 👍😁
Awesome story, even back when President Roosevelt wrote his book there were Sasquatch !! Thank You for story an illustration great ♥️
Well yea there have always been bigfoot they didn't magically appear in the last 60 years or so.
Even back when Australian aborigines painted in caves 40,000 years ago there have been the Australian aborigines equivalent to sasquatch - the Yowie.
@@niklashall5969 I’ve been told of a recent Yowie encounter in Jarrahdale, WA. I couldn’t believe my ears!
I think that the Yowie is way more unpredictable than the Sasquatch and probably not so evolved intellectually.
Yeah the natives have spoken traditions of them for thousands of years
Your videos remind me of Bob Gymlan, but on more topics than cryptids. That said, it's refreshing that you don't shy away from them either.
Love your content. And I'm happy to be here before your first million.
I subbed to this channel just because I like the art.
Keep it up man. I just subbed keep up all the research we all respect the work u put in.
Your videos are the best! I love how much detail you put into them and that you actually state facts. It is obvious you do your research and put so much effort into your videos 😊
I dunno that I'd agree that frontiersman weren't superstitious. They sure are the origin of a lot of tall tales, crypto sightings and good luck charms/rituals for a group that's supposedly above all that. Living a hard rough life has never kept people from being superstitious; usually it's actually directly the cause for it. When one bad storm or a string of bad hunts come together that can end you you're going to be clutching at whatever your brain can make sense of to see a pattern in how you can influence or read the events, even if it's ultimately not connected
MPM is how I found your channel and a handful of others. I clicked on their recommended channels and listen to 1 video and if I like the voice and know I can fall asleep to it and like the content as well , which ik I will if its about strange sightings and missing ppl then I subscribe. So yes they brought me to your channel but you're the reason I stay. You have a great storyteller voice, awesome art and you pick great stories/missing ppl cases . Keep up the great work I'll be here waiting for each upload. I'm currently binge watching your videos but I'm almost done. I listen to fall asleep but I watch once I wake up. I make sure to like the ones I watch so ik I watched it lol.
I ordered a copy of that book. The chapter it was in was called, "Cowboy Country." The publisher must have thought that Roosevelt was getting his leg pulled cause the chapter has been cut from the original book.
Thanks for the info. Any idea which year or version of the book still contains that chapter? I bought 2 different ones and neither one has it.
Your channel is absolutely brilliant, Thanks so much for your efforts.👍👍
Sasquatch doesn't murder people. The fact the tracks looked more bear like is homage to a dogman or skinwalker. Sasquatch make people disappear, they leave no evidence. A dogman would definitely do this.
If you really think that sasquatch dont kill people your crazy. The Dennis Martin case is a perfect example of a sasquatch not only kidnaping a child but they never found so much as a shoe lace or drop of blood. There are literally hundreds of thousands of missing persons cases in known sasquatch habitats like Yellowstone and glacier. They are not peaceful, they are not human. They are wild animals and wild animals can ALWAYS be trusted to acted like wild animals. Even a deer will attack people.
@@silverwolf851 not sure if you read my entire comment...actually Im pretty sure. Making people disappear without a trace and biting them savagely in the neck and leaving their bloody corpse to be discovered are drastically different.
you got rogues in every group/family/species, this one might just have been an psycho.
also, i'm not sold on dogmen even existing, so have trouble taking your alternative.
WRONG! Obviously this was the work of a Succubus.
Love to see ur channel exponentially grow!! Congrats
you have here an excellent channel, keep up the good work!:)
I just found this station.I am interested in these bizarre happenings and missing persons. 😳
Told with the facts ,you try to come to some normal conclusion. I do believe in Sasquatch so very intriguing 🤔.
Thank you , P.j. Signs.
This is,by far,my fave channel regarding missing people,sabe/sasquatch,woods and what haunts the great N. American wilds! I enjoy the stories and the accompanying artwork. Keep them coming 😊
Aiiiii I love how you showed appreciation for missing persons mysteries
Hey, dude. You're kickin' butt, keep on.
That's what I'm saying! I'm so glad his channel is finally getting noticed.
Missing person's mysteries with Steve Stockton. He recommended your channel so I came right over and subscribed!
It’s safe to say my black ass will not be taking any trips on anybody’s family camping trips or going into the woods. I have been asked plenty of times by my white homies. Now I understand my subconscious resistance 😂 I don’t know what’s going on and will leave it to the braver at heart to find out!
Is there something about being black that makes Bigfoot more of a threat to you?
@@Elmasdrakosinfenixov and swimming
🤣
bigfoot is gonna say the n word
ROFLMAO.UH-HUH.
I like that this story is just a part of a book he wrote about any other hunting story he had. It just was completely real to him and he didn't think it was fake and just put it with these accounts he knew as true.
I love your channel. You're doing an awesome job. ❤️
Many Thanks for the Upload...yt has stifled too much wierd, creepy content so I'm always glad to find hidden gems!!
-Newly Subbed
This channel's great! Artwork is awesome, audio is great, well researched, subject matter is provocative and interesting(and terrifying)😬
All around fantastic!
I remember first hearing this in a Bigfoot book in my elementary school library; the cryptid ones were always my first to pick out.
I had a similar experience and ended up with proof of bigfoots existence. Had just set up camp in a very remote area and during the night heard loud animal grunts in the direction of the river. Went down and though the creature had fled I recovered a pair of the largest socks I've ever seen..
That’s awesome 🙂❤️
The intro part is soooo crazy to watch now that your channel has grown so much🥰 congratulations!
Love these videos and awesome illustrations .
Keep up the great work 💪
Good job! I noticed one inconsistency. when they first saw the tracks they said it was a bear walking up right. I primate track and a bear track are easy to distinguish, especially for a trapper.
There is a lot wrong with this story.
I don’t think a 19th century trapper in America would know what primate tracks look like or think a big foot prints are ape in origin
@@joeyskywalker1322 fair enough. Humans are primates. I’d imagine they’d have seen a human foot print before. Maybe he just assumed they were bear tracks because it was dark and they were large tracks.
you need more subs. no- you deserve it! I absolutely love your work and you are awesome
