Really great interview. I’m 57 and I’ve loved Neil Diamond since I was a very young child listening to my late big brother play his albums. When he would go to work he’d say “if you want to listen to my records and be in my bedroom while I’m at work, just keep my bedroom clean and be very careful with my Neil Diamond albums”. Of course that would make me play Hot August Nights over and over. I was hooked. And my brothers bedroom was spotless when he returned as when he left. RIP big brother❤️

My all time favorite singer/musician and my favorite song of all time: Solitary Man. A few years ago my husband and I had the fortune of attending one of his "Hot August Nights" concert at the Quest Center in Omaha. There was every generation in attendance, all standing, dancing, singing and clapping. When I heard the starting riff for "Solitary Man", I literally got chills all over. I had gone to one of his concerts a couple years earlier and he didn't play my favorite song. My husband said I had tears in my eyes after hearing "Solitary Man." I knew that was probably the last time I'd ever get to hear him sing in person and was so grateful to have that experience of a lifetime. I've gone to numerous concerts from Journey to Tim McGraw to Styx to Garth Brooks. Neil Diamond was by far the best concert and most heartfelt one. My two 17 year old sons love your music too and when we're all in my car, I crank up "Solitary Man" and everyone sings. God bless you Neil! I grew up playing your records on my turntable and still do! I feel so blessed to have grown up during the years when music was great, real talent flourished and people actually played their own instruments.

Jo Thompson I just love Neil diamond I have played hot August night so often I know every beat of the drums every violin every guitar I even know what the audience is going to do when I was younger I was not too keen on porcupine pie and crying in your pretzels but now I understand how funny they are and I love them I. I’ve seen Neil 3 times in Houston. Oh was he fantastic. The close he wore, the huge American flag that was unfurled above him when he sang “We’re coming to America” with the Red White and Blue lights. He was unbelievable, Excellent entertainer and songwriter and singer. One of favorites out of my top five. He is Golden, every song turns to gold for me. He is a Class Act also. We sat on the second row each time. He is fun, makes people laugh and smile. Just the greatest. Not bad to look at either. I’m understating that btw 😁Keep it up Neil. Love you, love your music.
Love is the secret to eternal youth, and not just love for a wife or husband or kids. it's love for everyone, love for God, love of being alive, and loving that every day has new potential to be great (or at least having the ability to not make it worse) MUSIC is the secret to time travel and being able to see those people and places you love all over again. If i had known the true power of music I would have always played my grandmother's favorite records when she slowly began to fade away with dementia and Alzheimer's. and I would have played even more music for my kids when they were still babies. they do enjoy music, but not the same way I did when I was growing up. too many screen distractions these days. i used to spend hours in my room sketching and playing my mom's old records. everything from classical to Irish folk to country western (marty robbins usually) i didn't add classic rock until later when i was in high school. I was always snooping around in the records bins at thrift stores. i had my own money by that time. i didn't have time for anything mainstream. if it wasn't 20 or 30 years (in the late 1990s) then i didn't want to hear it lol i haven't changed a whole lot in that regard. and not to sound like every other jerk bashing modern music, but today's stuff really is insipid and banal. probably worse now more than ever since people are leaning more towards AI.
