From the moment my mom gave me my first racket, Hearing the pop of the ball as it left the strings, Hitting imaginary winners on Centre Court I fell in love with you.
You made me feel so alive, And I chased after you, obsessively. Up and down the court, Across the world. If one thing was true, I knew, I would do anything, for you.
You taught me how to grind, How to trust myself. Most of all, you gave a small boy his dream, To compete at the highest level.
But I knew it was never going to be easy, The loneliness of the game, The suffocating pressure to deliver. Ultimately, It wasn’t meant to be.
But this was never how it was going to end. Through coaching you gave me a new purpose, You gave me the chance to be the mentor I wished I had, You opened doors to millions, To share this passion that I have for you.
Although it didn’t turn out the way I imagined, You gave me more than I could’ve ever wished for, And I want you to know, I’m truly grateful.
0:30 Could you please tell me what surface is this? Is it synthetic clay? Do you happen to know what is the company’s name? How would you describe playing on it compared to real clay? I need to know all this because the clay courts in my beach condo get ruined by the constant wind and changing to hard court is not on the table. Thank you.
Its all about the music mate...the video is beariful too and i felt the same...but try watching it woth some annoying music and you would never feel the same :p

I've been playing tennis for the past 30+ years. Played juniors in southern california and college tennis followed by a short run traveling playing the lowest levels of professional tennis challengers. I had a career ending injury to my lower back which required surgery in the early 2000's, but my tennis career wasn't over just yet. I started coaching college tennis in the mid 2000's and became a head coach in 2009 and I was able to give back to the sport that I love with all of my heart. Your video brought tears to my eyes and I know the heartache and pain that you have endured. Tennis is full of ups and downs as the saying goes, no pain no gain. Keep up the great work!
I was not expecting this video to show up in my feed and captivate me like this. Genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Even though I only picked up tennis late in life, I can imagine the heartache of 15+ years of devotion to work towards a goal only to not quite get there. But to shift the goal to different horizons and still enjoy the essence of the sport is a very positive message. Subscribed.
Dylan, if you’re read this message. I want you to know how your videos have helped me and my son in improving in our tennis games. My son and I resides in Australia and we are practicing to be better players than the day before. Wishing you all the best and please continue to be involved in tennis from a different perspective. Hope to cross path one day.
This is truly inspirational for all ages, tennis fans or not. Can’t help but to watch it again and again. Really enjoyed how your life story unfolds beautifully, reminding me of this quote “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”🔥 CATHERINE OF SIENA Pursue your passion and find fulfilment in making a difference in the lives of others. Just beautiful! Reminds me on a old Head catalogue from cca 2012: I AM AN ATHLETE MY SPORT IS TENNIS ITS MY FIRST LOVE AND IT WILL BE MY LAST I’VE SACRIFICED MY LIFE FOR THE COURT I’VE SERVED BEFORE DAWN CRAWLED HOME AFTER DUSK PLAYED WITH GUTS RELIED ON MY INSTINCTS ALONE I’VE BEATEN MYSELF BEATEN BETTER PLAYERS LOST TO LOSERS HAD THE COURAGE TO FACE MYSELF LET FEAR BE MY WITNESS I STRUGLE WITH PAIN BUT NOT TO PLAY WIULD HAVE BEEN WORSE I’VE PLAYED 2 MILLIONS BACKHANDS AND MORE MY TECHNIQUE IS FLAWLESS MY GAME IS SPONTANEUS ADVENTUROUS COURAGEOUS I AM AN ATHLETE I AM HEAD AND I AM YOU I AM: THE POWER OF YOU
Wow man! you made me cry, which I did not in a long time! I also left tennis due to an injury and never returned, so this gives me hope that I should not leave something which I gave a almost my entire life to!
It feels like Wes Anderson made a short film about tennis - made me really emotional and realize how much this is more than juste a sport, thank you Dylan
this is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. there is truly nothing more fulfilling than playing this sport. it's a love that can't be explained or taught. forever thanking God for this journey.
We take what we get from tennis and use it to better our lives. I too had to say goodbye to a great sport I imagined going professional and making money and fame from. But it’s not always in the books for everyone. I’m grateful for what it has taught me and will always remember grinding hard for what I want in life.
"It wasn't meant to be." Reconciliation with shattered dreams due to a severe injury - or just due to lack of something "x" - is the hardest - and by definition - private, battle; at the end of the day it is also the greatest triumph one can achieve in life, not only in professional sports. But yeah, one slip, lunge, stretch, break can be fatal and end a promising budding pro (or even junior) career before it really even got started. Then one's spirit is truly measured against a radically changed, momentarily bleak and desolate horizon. You did well.
Insane man! The style of the video really reminds me of a great soul I was lucky enough to get to know ❤ Tennis is my personal teacher of life! Cheers to Lester the legend
Dylan, it is such a cool video! Thank you for sharing your story! I really grateful for your attitude to tennis because you can share that love to tennis with others what really inspires!
Wow, what a beautiful short video. I spent 20 years playing Taekwondo, with many ups and downs. While I'm away from the sport now, I reminisce about the beautiful memories from time to time and this movie was really spot on. Well done and keep it up!
I am glad this video appeared on my feed, because of this I subscribed to your channel. Thanks for making the video and posting it. It is excellent! From now on I will follow your channel and watch your videos. Greetings from San Diego, California.

That was such a beautiful story almost crying here ❤Dylan wish you nothing but best. You really took the best of tennis to heart even after injury and trajectory change in life with tennis ❤
The most beautiful introspective on tennis in today's modern game. My wife at 45 is living and breathing tennis, everyday, a passion she has finally had the chance to live out after the realities of school, career, kids, career. the past yr she can't figure out her serve... pretty sure she loves the sport far more than me! 😂

I AM AN ATHLETE
MY SPORT IS TENNIS
ITS MY FIRST LOVE
AND IT WILL BE MY LAST
I’VE SACRIFICED MY LIFE FOR THE COURT
I’VE SERVED BEFORE DAWN
CRAWLED HOME AFTER DUSK
PLAYED WITH GUTS
RELIED ON MY INSTINCTS ALONE
I’VE BEATEN MYSELF
BEATEN BETTER PLAYERS
LOST TO LOSERS
HAD THE COURAGE TO FACE MYSELF
LET FEAR BE MY WITNESS
I STRUGLE WITH PAIN
BUT NOT TO PLAY WIULD HAVE BEEN WORSE
I’VE PLAYED 2 MILLIONS BACKHANDS AND MORE
MY TECHNIQUE IS FLAWLESS
MY GAME IS SPONTANEUS
ADVENTUROUS
COURAGEOUS
I AM AN ATHLETE
I AM HEAD
AND I AM YOU
I AM: THE POWER OF YOU
God bless you Dylan! Keep going strong. We are all wishing you the best! ❤🙏🏾
