- One of my most fulfilling projects to date - ‘Dear Tennis’.
Creating this film has helped me to reflect on my journey so far. Not only has it reminded me of my love for this sport, it’s also allowed me to appreciate all the moments that have brought me to where I am today, both the good and the bad. To cherish those smaller, unassuming moments and to stay present.
Despite the unexpected turns in my journey, it has brought me more joy, inspiration and fulfilment than I could have ever imagined. Everything happens for a reason.
Chase after your passions relentlessly.

From the moment my mom gave me my first racket,
Hearing the pop of the ball as it left the strings,
Hitting imaginary winners on Centre Court
I fell in love with you.
You made me feel so alive,
And I chased after you, obsessively.
Up and down the court,
Across the world.
If one thing was true,
I knew, I would do anything, for you.
You taught me how to grind,
How to trust myself.
Most of all, you gave a small boy his dream,
To compete at the highest level.
But I knew it was never going to be easy,
The loneliness of the game,
The suffocating pressure to deliver.
Ultimately,
It wasn’t meant to be.
But this was never how it was going to end.
Through coaching you gave me a new purpose,
You gave me the chance to be the mentor I wished I had,
You opened doors to millions,
To share this passion that I have for you.
Although it didn’t turn out the way I imagined,
You gave me more than I could’ve ever wished for,
And I want you to know, I’m truly grateful.

0:30 Could you please tell me what surface is this? Is it synthetic clay? Do you happen to know what is the company’s name?How would you describe playing on it compared to real clay? I need to know all this because the clay courts in my beach condo get ruined by the constant wind and changing to hard court is not on the table. Thank you.

I was not expecting this video to show up in my feed and captivate me like this. Genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Even though I only picked up tennis late in life, I can imagine the heartache of 15+ years of devotion to work towards a goal only to not quite get there. But to shift the goal to different horizons and still enjoy the essence of the sport is a very positive message. Subscribed.

I've been playing tennis for the past 30+ years. Played juniors in southern california and college tennis followed by a short run traveling playing the lowest levels of professional tennis challengers. I had a career ending injury to my lower back which required surgery in the early 2000's, but my tennis career wasn't over just yet. I started coaching college tennis in the mid 2000's and became a head coach in 2009 and I was able to give back to the sport that I love with all of my heart. Your video brought tears to my eyes and I know the heartache and pain that you have endured. Tennis is full of ups and downs as the saying goes, no pain no gain. Keep up the great work!

"It wasn't meant to be." Reconciliation with shattered dreams due to a severe injury - or just due to lack of something "x" - is the hardest - and by definition - private, battle; at the end of the day it is also the greatest triumph one can achieve in life, not only in professional sports. But yeah, one slip, lunge, stretch, break can be fatal and end a promising budding pro (or even junior) career before it really even got started. Then one's spirit is truly measured against a radically changed, momentarily bleak and desolate horizon. You did well.

Mate, really well done. I'm a New Zealander who did the age-group thing growing up. I was outside of the mix for college scholarships but I could see my top 40 or so, ranked buddies in U18's hustle their way into the USA Div 1 scene. If you want to make massive bank, consider branding yourself as an associate in an IB. There's no shortage of egotistical Managing Directors that want a hitting partner at their local tennis club. Either in US or Oz. Peace!

The Problem(s) with Tennis:
- Perhaps the most physically demanding sport, factoring in strength, stamina, mental prowess, and *likelihood of injuries*
- Due to frequency and severity of injuries from the nature of tennis, injuries often takes a player out of the game, permanently.
- Expensive sport. In terms of gear, training, and in professional levels, travelling, team expenses.
- Privatized sport. In tennis, players bear the expenses themselves, making them completely reliant on sponsors and winnings. In badminton/pingpong, Governments supply players with training, facilities, and travel from an amateur level. They keep only a portion of the winnings, but there's a safety net for all national-level players.
I mean fantastic video man, but some credits to Kobe would be great, seeing that you completely emulated his script…

We take what we get from tennis and use it to better our lives. I too had to say goodbye to a great sport I imagined going professional and making money and fame from. But it’s not always in the books for everyone. I’m grateful for what it has taught me and will always remember grinding hard for what I want in life.
