When you compare it to the 3090 it seems like a good deal. Compare it to the RTX 3080. The RTX 3080 was close to the RTX 3090 in terms of gaming performance. The RTX 3080 was the deal in the 30 series. It gave close to RTX 3090 levels of performance for less than half the price. We have nothing like that in the 40 series.
Some goes to the 4080, it’s right behind the 4090

yeah, because nvidia, for some reason, had too many ga102 cores kicking around and decided to use them in 100 different models. now they're doing the opposite by using as low-class of a die as possible for each model ☠️

Rent is so bad in the U.S. rent for 2 bedroom is like a 4090 per month. And I'm not in an expensive state.

Regarding power draw - Undervolt or power limit it like I have and it's actually extremely efficient. That in turn also lowers heat output and fan noise. As for the big cooler, I personally like it because I prioritise cooling over small case asthetics.
it can run with 3090 performance at 190w, so it's actually very power efficient

(I’ve seen it before better than the ti in what I play but that ain’t every use case) If it had normal G6 memory, and was thrown in a laptop it would actually still work amazingly, and perform better than what we can see on the desktop card at that power.
And i just bought new 3090 on promotion. Mostly because i cant afford 4090 which costs almost twice what i paid in my country and I need vram for machine learning
The problem is the price/perf of the rest of the lineup is now matched to the cost no object card, and the market has been locked to this ridiculous idea

The problem is very rarely the card itself but the pricing. Another big issue in recent years is the rebrand of xx80 series chips to xx90 with a doubling in price.
Nvidia has become way too powerful in the gpu market and since they dont earn their money in the desktop Segment anymore they dont really have to worry about it

HOLD UP I FOUND A LOOPHOLE!!! The intel arc a770 comes with 16gb vram so get 2 onto 1 motherboard and that’s 32gb vram for only 600 bucks

Your logic makes sense, but seeing which cards get released at the moment (and are planned to release soon)... I don't think either AMD or Nvidia will follow that logic.
Thing is you haven’t been able to get it under 1800 since launch and that’s the shitty gigabyte model a real decent model is easily over 2k which is just insane the 4080 is going for the price of the 4090s msrp I wanted to buy nvidia but it’s impossible to find any at msrp so I switched to amd

It does not use the latest HDMI port unlike the AMD 7900 XTX and instead chose the older connector.
To be fair not everyone needs the newest display port a lot of people still have their monitors with the previous display port and monitors are still being made with the previous one so that argument is subjective
but why limit your options when you are already paying top dollar for such an overpriced product?

Its a good deal compared to the 3090, which was absolutely terrible value. Honestly I can't see why you wouldn't go with the 7900xtx at least where I live it was on sale last week for half the price of the 4090. And if you don't care too much about ray tracing the performance isn't that much different.
If there is no amd drivers issues, this might be my next gpu
Both of them are terrible value, it's just that the 3080 made the 3090 look like a niche product, whereas the 4080 is so overpriced that it makes the 4090 look like a decent choice 😂😂😂
if it was optimized for the software I'm using I have no problem with amd, also I had bad experiences with every amd products I used
I would like to see someone do an extensive test of the 4090 and its power consumption under parameters, up to 60Hz, up to 4K from 1080p.
I’ve never tested 4k but it’s pretty dang efficient you can leave it 70 percent power limited and still got most of the performance it’s wild
@@Th3Fly1ngCow I don't doubt it. But I would like to know without any tinkering, how does it do in power consumption? Say you play game X at say 1440p and limit through the game (or I guess driver) the framerate to 60. Same for other resolutions. Still, thanks for your reply.
LTT (Linus tech tips) might have done those tests. Haven't looked for power consumption specifically, but they have a pretty rigorous test suite

Idk I went with 4080 instead I could of ez got 4090, I didn’t want my house to burn down so I took 4080 and it’s been solid 4k specially with 7900x and 64gb ddr5 6000
At this point I'd say rather than upping the tdp, increase efficiency so that the highest end card doesn't require more than 300w power at peak
As much as it costs it should give you a "reach around" and make you breakfast.

4090 is so good but it's too expensive and way too big
its not... wait some months and get it used, has always been like that. New its 1500€ , used 1200€. Its a okay price in my opinion.

I dont know much about PCs but if the connector burns is it replaceable? And is it an expensive repair?
less than 0.05-0.1% burn and 9/10 times its from using CableMod adapters and the other 1/10 is from not plugging it in. Not an issue unless you have a disability.

The 30-series has higher transient power spikes in case you forgot. That issue has been largely fixed with the 40-series.

The rtx 4090 is around 2000 dollars while the 7900xtx is just around 900 dollars,

That's actually a ripoff. You can get a good 4080 model for that or if you're actually lucky, but you would have to be lucky, then you could get a Founders Edition 4090

Classic Nvidia miser attitude. Now they are limiting video ram amount on their top premium GPU rather than upping the amount. Is there going to be an RTX 4090ti? And do you think their next top card if it is the RTX 5090, will that card 'only' have 24 GB too? I'm stating that for games to play their best at 1080p, you really need 16 GB, so, do you actually need only 24 GB for a card that is suppose to play 4k resolution games that require at least 4 times the video ram memory to have sufficient FPS? What it means is that you need closer to 64 GB of video memory which no one is supplying.
The reason NVIDIA did not bump it is because they did not need to, 24GB of VRAM is alot of vram and NVIDIA did not feel it was even neccesary to bump it for gaming. For productivity either cry about it or buy a RTX 4000 or RTX 8000 in terms of pure VRAM.
Mabye they will bump it with the 5090 to 48GB
What game have you seen that need or takes advantage of 24GB because Cyberpunk the most demanding game sure does not do so.
@@MrDecessus My opinion on whether or not something is good or bad will never sway anyone, but I can always give third party reviews and tests that back up my perspective. When the RTX 3090ti was released, it could not play Cyberpunk 2077 at over 50 FPS using any number of techniques at 4k resolution and higher, and the performance was worse if you used DLSS or ray tracing. This testing was done by both Hardware unboxed and Gamers Nexus UA-camr reviewers, and no video card reviewers have ever disputed those claims. Rant all you want, but at least give a source that backs your claim so people can support you.
Name a single game that consumes 16GB of RAM at 1080p at reasonable settings. I have played a lot of modern games on my 4090, including most of the VRAM heavy ones, and have not had a single issue at 4k with VRAM, let alone 1080p.
The 40 series is a joke, 4080 in my opinion is the only card worth it, the vram should be at least 24 gb, but we all know how Ngreedia works smh

And if we went by your standards the 4080 would be the next card up which that gpu is closer to a 4070 Ti just with slightly better specs and both are 1440p cards imo
professional what ? lol. by pure power, it's literally the best card available on the market and it's best for gaming. also most "professionals" dont buy this card. the demographic of buyers are mostly gamers when it comes to nvidia in general.
