OH MY GOD!!! this dish is so GOOD!!! I watched this video 5 days ago and I just made the reciepe last night. You are so correct, I love this dish and it will not be my last making it, i will make it again. However, my local store didn't sell turtle meat, so I had to drive 3 hours to get some T-T
Hah! I love the "You scorch your roux, you're through". Yuuup, better not burn that roux. Love your content, guys. Y'all are wonderful ambassadors to Louisiana.
When I was going to New Orleans, my dad told me to find a place that makes turtle soup and try it. I did and I love it and always tell anyone I know that is going to NO the same advice. Everyone that has taken that advice has said it's the best soup they've ever eaten.
My mother...Carmel's Seafood in Lakeshore MS...God Rest her Soul....made the "BEST" turtle soup you'd ever tasted. Someone wld bring her a turtle n she wld feed it til it got the size she wanted. Then "she" wld kill, clean, n cook it. She had the "BEST" STUFFED crabs..stuffed artichokes, crawfish bisque...even the heads were stuffed. And..many other goodies. Thanks for such Great videos.
I don't mind a nice turtle soup or sauce picante. Only if the turtle is one that is not endangered or vulnerable (Alligator Snapping Turtles and Diamondback Terrapins). For people not aware, the turtle they used seemed to be common snappers, which are not currently endangered.
Awesome video, used to work with a guy from Thibodeuax that loved alligator snapping turtle. My great uncle would throw turtles in the cattle trough for a few days before eating them.
Looks so good, bur I loathe when restaurants throw chopped green onions on my plates. I cant stand them and gotta pick each one off myself. They just like to garish for optics. 3:56
My asian's eyes burn when I saw you don't wash the rice and cook it with murky starchy water. 😂😂 I know probably peoples going to say they add vitamins and different cultures different way to do it etc. I get it. But it just me feel this way you can't control how you felt.
Why oil instead of butter? Any reason or is butter acceptable as an alternative? Im DEEEEEP southern (Everglades) and butter runs thru our veins. Thats why im asking... Much appreciated if you see this comment. Commiefornia wine? "2019 vintage"? Im starting to doubt your truly southern but i guess that might be the French Cajun in ya with wine... but, from Commiefornia? Really? Nothing homemade like a nice elderberry wine or the like...hmm.
