The third gen really introduced a lot of fantastic pokemons. Salamance was absolutely the dragon for excellence. I still remember the beginning of XD gale of darkness ❤.
Salamence with 145 Attack, 120 Speed, and 95/130/90 defenses: Pretty good Salamence with Flying STAB: Pretty good Salamence with 145 Attack, 120 Speed, 95/130/90 defenses, 120 bp Flying STAB, _and_ an extra 20%/30% boost in damage for said STAB just to be sure: 💀
But, as a matter of fact, Salamence benefits very less from mega evolving, as compared to other Mega Evolution. I would rather use base Salamence and a different Mega.
@@aninassYou cannot imagine how wrong you are. Mega Salamence gets a much needed boost in speed, plus more bulk and attack. Its new ability aerilate gives him reliable and powerful flying stab (frustration and double edge) which is huge as flying is neutral on most of the meta game. Add earthquake and you get a great coverage with just 2 moves. Due to power creep, base salamence is now just correct. Mega allows it to come, intimidate the opponent, mega evolve and make a kill/set up or simply switch to gain momentum. Base salamence is not as threatening. Mega send it straight to legendary tier of broken.
@@nicolaschaumont7331 I am talking about a time when Salamence was already really good. It arguably could have done better by a better stat spread through its mega. That's the point of my reply. It doesn't really get the huge boost that you would expect a Mega to get. Think of it this way. Salamence is really good. So Mega Salamence is really very good. So good to very good is not much of a benefit as let's say, bad to very good or good to broken. You get what I'm saying. Mega Salamence could have been better, that's my point.
@@aninasswho cares it’s still the best non legendary mega lmao it’s stats are too well rounded and its ability is too good. It’s too fast too be that bulky and strong even by Uber standards
It’s criminal that Drake still doesn’t have Mega Salamence in Masters. But, if Brendan can get Mega Sceptile four years after launch, maybe Drake will eventually get that update as well.
What pisses me off is that Mega Garchomp has its speed lowered, never even got Sand Rush to compensate for its slowness, and was never gifted D-Dance. Meanwhile Salamence was given amazing Flying STAB, amazing speed that let it outspeed Mega Rayquaza and Arceus if they weren’t scarfed, and had Dragon Dance to boost its already high attack to egregious levels. Gamefreak never knew how to balance mons out half the time.
Correction: Best is Mega Gengar hands down. Now it even rivals Mega Rayquaza, if not better, because they gave Gengar ENCORE which is ridiculous with Shadow Tag.
I would like him to learn extreme speed, so he would have an option to attack in case he faced a Pokémon faster than him (I am aware that that would mean possibly sending him to AG, but even so it wouldn't be bad XD), and that they would give him back the cry that I had before the sixth generation xD Even so, Salamence is fine as it is, the best dragon at least for me and my favourite pokemon.
Oh please when i tried using mega salamence in gen 6 against the Japanese it got nuked by hp ice and bulky defensive pokemon with ice beam. I had much more success with mega charizard x. Rip mega evolutions
Mega Mence was one of my favorite early new megas to use, my favorite one was my wish protect body slam flame thrower tank. This mega as a heavy amount of utility and diverse options of both offense and defense it is heavily good. I play flat so it was thrilling to use and face.
So do y'all think this thing would be allowed in Gen 9 if it was there with other Megas? Assuming you can't terastrallise a Mega Pokemon? We have seen ridiculous trends in Gen 9 (Garchomp in UU, Gyarados in RU and Staraptor in PU)
I have a Salamence that I adore and hold dear. He is in Alpha Sapphire, is a Mega, and rampages around as he pleases. His name is Ventus. The last I checked he has Dragon Claw, Flamethrower, Brick Break, and Giga Impact. He isnt even perfect IV or max attack EV, and he oneshot a Primal Kyogre with an Aerielate Crit Giga Impact unboosted. I understand why people are fearful of this soaring beast, especially with how broken Aerielate was before Gen 7 nerfed it. But I really hope when Mega returns, my Ventus can shine with that glorious crescent. ...just like his predecessor, a shiny Roaring Moon. Also named Ventus.
@@Roflmao6173 no longer true, scale shoot sets are better on the mega and can abuse sandstorm, due to speed increses regular Garchomp no longer cuts it so that set makes mega-chomp an actual mon
Mega Garchomp's biggest issue is that it is too reliant on Sand. IIRC, in Gen 6 and 7, Sand wasn't bad per se, but it was way outclassed by Rain and Sun, and Sand focused teams usually ran Mega Tyrannitar to get the most usage out of their sand setter. But if you ever get into a scenario where you want to run, for example, Smooth Rock T-tar for the extended sand turns, and you need big damage _now,_ then Mega Garchomp really shines. IMO, Mega Garchomp is let down by its lack of team options. You have T-tar/Hippo as a sand setter, Excadrill as a prominent sand abuser... then nothing else, really. People point out its Speed, but mons like Landorus, Heatran, Kyurem, and Great Tusk all remain viable with high usage to this day with sub-100 base Speed. Mega Garchomp has a clear niche, but doesn't have even 5 other mons backing up its niche compared to how Rain has 50 abusers and Sun has 1,000,000 abusers.
Salamece’s Special Attack stat is weaker than its physical attack, also it’s not a Stab and that Aegislash was in Shield form which raised both of it’s Defenses, physical and special, that’s why that Aegislash survived lol
