Nithya, I have made using dessicated coconut. its not as tasty as freshly grated coconut but When i crave for pittu or rotti i use them.. what i do is make some coconut milk with maggi powder or dilute some coconut cream that you get in cans in hot water, soak the dessicated cocnut in it and leave for like 20 mins. after 20 mins your cocnut is ready. mpist and delicious. :) hope this helps!
Hi Nithya, sorry for the late reply. what do you mean by the coconut milk powder of the desiccaated coconut ? if its difficult to find fresh coconut. best option is desiccated coconut. (soak in hot water until it gets soft.)

Hi Louisa, yes you can use frozen coconut. Defrost completely before adding to the rice flour.
