I’ve watched about 15 GoPro night lapse videos in the past five days and this is the one that has been most helpful! Even with the GoPro 11. Thank you so much!
I’ve always color corrected one pic and copied those attributes, then paste those attributes to all photos. I’ve never even considered creating a compound clip! Brilliant!!

Now I got to try the night lapse again. Thanks for this. One question - what settings do you use for a evening video. Wanting to go and film around dusk/dark. (Maybe new video idea?)
I dont have the max but i just asked a friend and they said yes.. it has protune which you can set and it has timelapse mode.. not sure if it is photo timelapse but for sure video, thanks for commenting.
Hello there. i have gopro 9. I love night time shots. especially star shots. This device gives me peace and an incredible image, but when I make the video format "photo", on which program can I convert them to video, please? This is very important for me.
Awesome thanks heaps. Can you suggest a book type arm that I could attach to my caravan to have car in view at higher speeds as will be on some freeways so want to ensure won’t lose it. Going to try this lapse whilst away thanks heaps (from Australia)
Thanks for the video! Definitely easy to follow. Do you have any tips for how to capture a day to night time lapse while also sustaining the best settings to still capture the stars? I’m going camping this weekend and bought the GoPro 9 hero black beforehand with this goal in mind.
Random Question 1 year later lol: I'm also using Premiere, and it wont import my RAW photos so I'm just importing the JPEGS.. any chance if you remember if there is a way to import the RAW photos?
Questions. I don’t have a go pro I normally use a DSLR. Will a dew heater keep the Len lens clear. You said it only last 3 hours does it have an option for external power like a Jackery or a brick usb battery? What model of GoPro is this?
How do you make sure the video is not over 2-3 min ? I would think by setting it to auto interval you wouldn’t have control of how long the video is. Thank you
I'm not sure if you're still looking for an answer, but it would depend on how long you would want your final video to be. If you want it to be maybe just a few seconds, like around 5-10 seconds of video, you'd wanna shoot maybe around 60 minutes of photos. If you want it to be a longer video, like say 30 seconds to maybe a couple minutes you'd have to shoot at LEAST 4-5 HOURS of photo. And also it depends on how many photos per second you'd have it set to. If you're gonna be capturing photos for a few hours, you'd want to have your GoPro connected to power with an actual cable plugged into an outlet or maybe power bank, otherwise the battery would die before you'd get a decent length of video. I hope this was helpful.
Nice info and very helpful. I’ve got 2 questions from it: 1. Did you have to convert the GPR files into another format to use in Final Cut? 2. Why do you set the duration of each pic to 2 frames instead of 1 frame? Very helpful overall 👌
Hi. Thanks so much for the comment. I actually didn’t have to convert the files at all. It went straight into fcp like I did in the video. I picked 2 frames because it seems to flow a little better than 1 frame, but you are welcome to try it if you think the result is better :)
@@cliffordpereira1189 i just put this into Final Cut Pro but i believe this same concept will work any other editing software, even some free ones. which might be a good future video :)
You can actually plug it in to an external power source for more battery life. With a full charge I was able to get 3.5 hours of timelapse with 1 battery
I don't know if you are reading this comment section for this 2 year old video but... for both ISO Min and Max I don't have 1600, both only reaching 800. Any help would be nice since I am going to Hawaii with my dad on Wednesday August 2nd.
When import my fotage i look just fine but when i drag it into the media timline its just a weird noise black and white terrain? What did i do wrong?(Im using Premire Pro)
while I can't find anything definitive in a search, an ND filter (no matter the grade, ie. 2/4/8/16, etc.) will always be like your gopro wearing sunglasses. think of what it's like to wear sunglasses at night. it'll very likely kill the light pollution, but also the subject matter (the sky/stars) as well. I've heard of people having success actually removing the lens altogether and just capturing with the gopro's 'eye' instead. pros and cons to that method - pro is you'll have less blocking your view to a pure shot and more light, but con is that there's less in the way to protect the insides of the camera, ie. incidental lens damage. 15sec lapse would do good for moderate light pollution, and give your image some foreground texture and detail.
was there any lights or full moon? that will really brighten up the sky. If thats the case you would want to change the shutter ( i have the settings in the description)
