    Just for the sake of curiosity, is this lens (with ef mount) compatible with the 5d mark IV and 1dx mark II, for 4k recording?
    The specifications indicates that the lens has been designed for the super 35mm sensors, but in 4k both the 5d mark IV and 1dx mark II use a 4k portion of their sensors, which should be very close to a 4k super 35 mm sensor size...

    • @UnratedAwesomeness
      @UnratedAwesomeness 6 років тому +14

      Most likely. But the lens is about $70,000, twice the price of that fully decked out Alexa mini rig. Think about that, it's twice as expensive as one of the most expensive cameras...

    • @ensanchefilms8645

      Would it work on an R5 with 8K video?

    • @janardananwildlife
      @janardananwildlife Рік тому

      There would be a problem, the camera would only capture super 35 portion of its full frame sensor, meaning you have to scale up the footage in post to make it fill the frame, but that would not result in a good 4K footage

    • @oscarstegland
      @oscarstegland 2 роки тому +1

      Considering the best we've managed for S35 at T2 is an 18-85 that costs $100k, I think what you're after is pretty much impossible. Hell, there aren't even that many 200mm primes at T2...

  • @angelisone
    @angelisone 6 років тому +2

    this lens was built for reduction cameras.
    they are just using fancy words, super 35 format.
    ever wonder why no aps a, aps b?
    they jump to aps h, so what ever happened e, f & g?
    kinda like saying from a full frame. half of that should be called half-frame.
    but they fooled many by saying cropped frame.
    they failed to mentioned, the dead weights are overpriced setup of close to $200,000.00 usd.
    today, beginners & amateurs rather go for those amateur cameras from sony like the a9, a7r iii & a7 iii with canon ef mount lenses, just to get canon upset.

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone 6 років тому

      Harry Neary, sony maybe come out with an elite 35.
      but then, it is not 24mm x 36mm.
      so it's still a reduction sensor.

    • @acgandhi
      @acgandhi 6 років тому +3

      You only shoot "full" frame? What an amateur. Everyone knows the only way to shoot is 8x10. "Full" frame is pathetic.

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone 6 років тому

      Amar Gandhi, we rent the ATG's Imax just like many that want the best.
      Imax runs about $500,000.00 with some ATG/Canon/Red's lenses.
      If you have seen, "The Dark Knight Rises", then it was shot with Imax.
      ATG, Chris Nolan and my crews shot Batman plus other.

    • @bumkiss
      @bumkiss 5 років тому +1

      Super 35 is used in the manority of productions though. Red and Arri use super 35 aswell as film cameras. Shooting in only full frame is idiotic. Its not the sensor, its the user. If you cant get a good shot with m43 and a $200 lens then thats your fault, not the equipments fault.

      Planet Earth II was shot with this lens. And i bet many more documentary planet movies are gonna use this lens, because it's the best thing ever for such kind of a job.
      Why to be a terrible ad ?
      I don't see any Nikon, Sony lenses that can do that.
