Very interesting and well explained, I really enjoyed the explanation about the colors and their temperature. Good tips from an experienced artist. Thank you artist.

    1) What kind of paper are you painting on? 2) What kind of paper are you using under the palette?
I recently bought a grey paper palette, but think this makes a lot more sense as it's customizable to each painting.
    Thank you, very clear video!

Colleen Ferrell I’m using hot Press watercolor paper, I like the smooth surface it has. I prepared it with golden acrylic gesso mixed with golden raw umber acrylic paint and mixed a bunch of it to the value of Golden Neutral Grey #6, a little lighter than middle grey. And thank you. since the watercolor paper isn’t what I’m painting on anyway you could use something less expensive like Bristol as long as it has a smooth surface, you could also try paper with a rough surface if that’s your preference.

Cant believe I came across this info, so valuable. Thanks! Do you use this premixing process for all of your paintings? ie warm and cool side, warm had 7 values, cool had 5.
Also, i notice you kind of use a wash for the shadows, do you let the painting dry then reenforce what you need to ?

Roughly, yes. Although sometimes it can get more complicated depending on how many light sources there are to account for and of course the local color of the things being painted.
