(European 80s view) This Geissman is such an underrated guitarist, ok, now we have internet and you can educate future guitarists about, actually, whole bunch of maestros. But, when I found about Grant in 80s, in Yugoslavia, we only knew about Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Robben Ford was not that known, only to LP collectors. but, Grant is a hero here of this video and he is the one! When I bought his "Take Another Look", I was crazy about his nylon string guitar picking. And here, I played video on slower and I caught the notes of the solo. Not big deal, it's mainly F penthatonic, but right hand...oh, man....have to start practicing "right hand". Grant, I love your style...!!!
Chuck Mangione was born in Rochester, New York on November 29, 1940, so he is celebrating his 81st birthday today November 29, 2021. He is an American flugelhorn player, voice actor, trumpeter and composer. He came to prominence as a member of Art Blakey's band in the 1960s. He achieved international success in 1977 with his jazz-pop single "Feels So Good". Mangione has released more than 30 albums since 1960
@DavidZadick He was part of the "New" Messengers (1964-1966). By January 1966 the band had completely turned over again. Now Chuck Mangione occupied the trumpet chair with Frank Mitchell on tenor sax, Keith Jarrett on piano and Reggie Johnson on bass. This lineup produced the live album Buttercorn Lady under the moniker Art Blakey and the "New" Jazz Messengers. While the band continued to perform live, this would be the final Jazz Messengers recording of the decade.
My dad had this on cassette tape and I can actually remember riding in the car after preschool and we would listen on the way home. Great memories. I’m 43. 👍
My older brother introduced me to Chuck Mangione when I was 12 yrs old. Always brings back memories of my time as Kid l living on a farm in Northern Ontario
Absolutely~!~ Used to be able to hear a song like "Feels So Good", and without having to change radio stations,, you'd hear the Beatle's, or some other style(s) of music! The idiots,, and YES they're idiots-Deluxe,, running the radio programming should ~flogged in the fog, with a wet hide from a hog~!~!~!~
as a music lover, I have been a huge fan of both Chuck and brother Gap along with the Rochester boys, whose talents are deserving of the highest praise. Just listen to anything Mangione and enjoy like a fine red.
So, I was 17 and at a performance at Glen Este, (Ohio), high school, (1971). I will never forget this. I would swear this was recorded there, but the background is wrong. Love, love, love!!!
Chuck is so cool. I really appreciate this group. I was a budding musician in grade school at this time and I dunno if I would have carried on performing all these years if I didn't have inspiration like this. When I hear this I feel like I came home.
I look at this video and it feels so good! Rochester ny birth real good music. The Rochester boys do it like no other group we were so blessed, proud and fortunate.
I was a band geek in the 11th grade when Feels so good was released, those were some wonderful times. Got the chance to see Chuck and the band 3 yrs later. 😎
Google AI search is so good now that I sang the song and it found it. My wife and I grew up in the 70's and were joking about this song we used to hear as little kids but no idea what it was.
I saw Chuck perform a bunch of times. First one was just when FSG was released. And those shows were all magical somehow when he’d start with this song.
Would be worth the orgasm, amazing musicians, saw them live around 1980 at the landmark theater here in Syracuse, mind blowing, Grant is a beast on guitar 🎸!!!

What's up with everyone using this great song as an excuse to shit on modern music? There is a ton of great music being made today! News flash: You can like old music and new music at the same time!
As a kid, I loved when this song came on the radio. I sure miss the days when real human beings played real instruments.

What a beast on the guitar.
The great 'General' Grant Giesman.
I've got that second solo on my bucket list of "must learn guitar solos before I croak". I'm about half way thru it, lots of fun to play!
@@randyosgood4729 👍😄
Dude...who is that guitar player?

Priceless!❤
In an era where so much good MUSIC was made.........nothing will ever eclipse it !
And when's the last time we heard something like this on the radio? Nothing like a good old fashioned hit instrumental classic!!!
Oh I got this on my radio last week and I'm loving this ever since knowing the title :)

1978 was such a great year in pop-music
This was such a big hit in '77. Loved it then, still do today. Grant with his phenomenal guitar solo@

I remember this tune came out June 1978 those were fun respectful days!!!
Chuck’s chops were in full beast mode here!
Chuck on Flugelhorn & Keyboards;
Grant Geissman on Guitar;
Charles Meeks on Bass;
James Bradley, Jr. on Drums
Chris Vadala on Everything Else!
I saw them at a very small intimate outdoor concert in Vermont. Unforgettable experience some 40 years ago!
Great BAnd!
thank you!!

Never understood why Grant not mentioned in top iconic players, right up there with George Benson and Jeff Beck
This was a great band, and the guitar player was absolutely fantastic here.
Grant Geissman from San Jose, California!
Just lovely - shows that you neither have to play fast, nor loud, to create great music.
True, but you have to admit that this is pushing the tempo in contrast to the popular recording ...
No you don't have to, but they sure did! Ever heard the original?
Over 60 yrs ago my buddy was getting piano lessons from some little guy who was his neighbor. Chuck Mangione
Great playing Chuck. Those high notes are tricky on flugelhorn, but you nailed them
Great guitar work!
A young Grant Geissman!!!
Had to watch it again today 😱
That guitar solo is such a delight as well.
Nothing like the original band members. Never change the winning formula. Everybody was a master on the instrument.
