    Two Slash guitars. One a very rare and exclusive Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul costing 16.500 euro. The other guitar Slash his recent signature Les Paul Standard. Both are fantastic guitars. Sasha puts them head to head. Which do you prefer? Let us know in the comments!

    Goede demo! Finally someone who doesn't throw the gain to 11 and actually shows the honest guitar sound. Think I'll go for the cheaper version

      Yup, I believe the custom shop in this video though is based on a real Gibson though.
      His Appetite for Destruction (main studio guitar) was a copy made by Kris Derrig.
      His 87 Les Paul (like the custom shop at the beginning of this video) is a real Gibson that's his main stage guitar.

    I’ve got a nice 1987 Les Paul standard with Tim Shaws. Sounds amazing, feels amazing but in all seriousness, just get a Standard and if you’re not happy with the pickups, change them. No need for R9, chin stroking etc.

    • @adamwatson6916
      @adamwatson6916 2 роки тому

      Nobody needs an R9 but people want them and if they can afford them there is no reason not too R8s and R9s are not necessary better sounding although they are in many cases simply because custombuckers are in most cases much more clear sounding and refined but if you change pickups in the gibosn USA guitars they will sound just as good and with the right pickups can even sound better than a custom shop because as fantastic as custombuckers are you can find pickups that are even superior to them but R8s and R9s do have a different character to them. Not better just different they seem to have a deeper wider sound to them . They also have neck carves that are quite different from USA gibsons the USA 50s rounded neck and the necks on custom shop 57 and 58 reissues are quite different the 57 and 58s are way thicker .even the custom shop 59 necks which are slimmer than the 58s are still quite a bit beefier than the USA rounded 50s C. The USA 50s rounded C is more like a mid 1960 les Paul neck . Not super thick but not slim taper either. Also a USA 60s slim taper is quite different in feel and a fair bit thinner then a custom shop 1960 slim neck even the late 1960 les paul neck profile which is the thinnest of all the les paul reissues is still beefier then a USA 60s slim taper.
      Even the 1961 SG custom shop reissue with a slim 60s neck is a different feel and noticeably thicket them the 60s slim taper neck on the USA 61 SG reissue. Certainly better pickups and different profiles neither if which are available on USA guitars don't justify the large mark up in price but people do buy those guitars for the more accurate sounding pickups and more accurate necks profiles and carves

    Ill be honest, I own the Anaconda Burst Epiphone and the only difference I hear is the same difference I hear between any 2 high end Les Pauls. They all sound like Slash if you dial them in for it and the quality is there, most importantly. They're just great guitars.

    16 000 grand for a copy of a copy . Remember slashes appetite les paul which I am pretty sure was an 86 was not a Gibson but a boutique hand crafted 59 les paul copy built by Chris Derrig . Guys like Derrig and Max Bennet of max les Paul's were building accurate 59 copies long before Gibson started to actually try and copy those guitars properly . Gibsom were building 59 les paul reissues at that time and they were known as pre historics and while they are fantastic guitars they are not accurate 59 copies which is why guys like Derrig and Bennet built highly sought after guitars. Derrig les Paul's are max les Paul's are highly sought after today and many have real 59 Pafs as those guys would put real 50s pafs in those guitars of they were requested. Some of those Derrig and Max les Paul's can go for between 15 000 and 20 000 dollars they are that good . Common incorrect rumor is that slash choose Alnico 2 pro for his appetite les paul or that it came with real 59 pafs and slash removed them because he wanted A2Ps but it had A2Ps right from the very first minute. Slash had nothing to do with choice of Alnico 2 pro they just happened to be the only pickups Derrig had in the shop they day he finished the guitar and he had gotten a call saying slash needed the guitar that day so he grabbed the only pickups he had so he could finish the guitar and it just so happened that slash fell in love with those pickups and ended up using them for many many years and still uses them in many guitars and uses the newer modified signature version in many others accept his vintage gibsons from the 50s and 60s which all still have the vintage Gibson Pafs and patent sticker pickups so contrary to some claims he does not remove pafs form his vintage guitars and replace them with Duncan's. Those 50s and 60s gibsons only get used for recording .
