Thanks Rob, yes eventually i plan to be in my video's or as you suggest maybe a voice over but its still early days and im still figuring it all out and not brave enough to do that just yet!😁
Thankyou, its 2.5mm Aluminium and 2.4mm filler(4043). Amps are on the pedal but at a guess im using around 100amps to start then reducing to 75-80amps, 80hz, 30% balance and 3 secs of post flow. Check out the latest vid (Aluminium radiator) on the chanel 👍🏼
Theres so many tools i could buy to make each job far better but i think many viewers with limited money like to see its possible to do these things youself with limited tools. I do have plans to purchase a Guilotine in the near future. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment👍🏼
Few things, be better to clamp the work piece cutting the hole, slower drill speed , marking with a sharpie is a no no , and I would clean everything with acetone nice job though
I have a question and keep in mind. This is from someone who is not a welder. I have absolutely no experience with TIG welding. The very minimal amount of experience I have is with mig welding. At about the 24:47 You put in two tack welds but used no filler rod. Do you cut small pieces off of the filler rod and then just heat them up or with the tig torch are you just melting the aluminum and the metal melting provides the tack? I’ve seen this in other videos and often wonder the same thing so I thought I would ask. I do understand to secure it you’re using a filler rod, and that provides the strength to the brackets but those tacks have always made me wonder. Once again I’m not criticizing I just have absolutely no experience so I am just curious.
Hi there, so if you have both parts very close and fitting nice together you can tack them with no filler rod, high amps and a short burst they will just melt together. I like this method because it doesnt leave a larger lump of weld like a filler rod tack would, meaning its less noticable when you weld over it after. Thanks for you comment👍🏼
@@retrofabrications22 thank you for answering my question and making the content. I really enjoy these fabrication videos. It is really cool to see how a hunk or a slab or a scrap piece of metal can be turned into movable and stationary functioning parts. Have a great day.
Hi Steve, each header tank, oil catch tank, radiator or what ever it is will be different to the last and take different amounts of time and materials to make so theres no set price as such. Thanks
Hi, the pressure tester is just an off the shelf tool that i bought online a few years ago. They are readily available on places like ebay. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204506633294?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-gfqthrrqbo&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=PXtnzWPsTkq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I like the way you weld all hose connectors and fittings inside looks much cleaner
Thankyou, yes thats the only reason i do it that way just to look tidy 👍🏼
Keep Practicing Your Welding, No Substitute for Under Hood Time & Experience! Nice project.
Thankyou, everytime i weld i learn something new and improve!
Nice little job, could you give us a little explanation at the end for context a talk over would be cool 👍

I enjoyed that. Please tell me about welding machine settings and thickness of the plate that you used for. ❤

Nice work pal..my tigging is terrible i see the torch what tig machine you running? thanks.
Thanks mate, its a Parlweld XTM 211di im using great machine other than the Pedal settings are a pain to adjust.
@@retrofabrications22 ahh nice, I'm using the older xtt ... not keen on the torch..I've never used a peddle but hoping I can rig one to it
I like majority of the work but what bugs me is that you did not verify the direction of the fill cap before finalizing the weld on it
It had to point that way with the overflow pipe on that side but it wasnt bang on 90° which is an error yes i'll give you that......well spotted👍🏼
Get yourself a milwaukee metal saw, some aluminum blades, kroil, and a nice straightedge. You can cut parts straight within a few thou.

What brake do you have and how wide of 1/8" aluminum will it fold?
Not sure on the make i will check, its not a big name brand. Its 610mm wide and will fold 3mm-1/8 Aluminium but not steel that thick.
Smart job where can I order one from?
You need some carbide hole bits. Game changer and don't go too cheap on them
I certainly dont like the normal 'cone cutters' on Aluminium. Any links/recommendations for a better solution would be really helpful thanks👍🏼
@@retrofabrications22try out the lenox two flute step drills in 1/2" and 7/8". Use some kroil on aluminum. Works great.
Can I ask how much you sell these for against time to make and cost of materials?
