  • In this episode I compare the popular Hubsan Zino 2 camera to that of the DJI Mavic Air 2. Video was shot in 4K 60 FPS, all settings left in AUTO. Very non-scientific comparison. Enjoy!

    MA2 is better in auto. I expect if you drop the EV on the Zino a bit it would compare better.

    Thanks for another great video Captain Drone. In the initial shots of you & the tree, the Zino 2 looked a little overexposed. Colors seemed more accurate on the Mavic. However, I thought the Mavic image was a little too dark. Oddly enough, during the distance flight, I much preferred the Zino 2 over the Mavic. Didn’t appear quite as blown out as earlier. Of course, the final decision is left to one’s own preference. Thanks again.

    Zino had washed out colours and poor highlights when compared to the Air 2, which isn't surprising, but still a pretty good image from the Zino.

    Honestly I was expecting the air 2 to crush it but they both look really good. Can’t even tell a huge difference until side by side and that’s mostly color and a little bit of exposure or white balance but any of those can be easily changed in post production. So the color only really matters for people who don’t edit videos. Great job zino 2.

    Hi. Great video. As always. The zino 2 was more pleasing to look at BUT the lime colour of your back pack was washed out. Your legs were white though. The DJI was dark and strangely I can only describe as "uninteresting". Subjective of course. If I had to choose one, based solely on this test I would choose the Hubsan.

    Another great video comparison of these two drones Captain. I'm not a professional drone pilot nor a professional photographer, but I have been flying drones now for over 5 years. Not as long as some, but long enough to know the difference between a decent camera and a halfway decent drone. First off, comparing the flight characteristics wasn't the point of this video, if I'm not mistaken it was the camera/video quality. As far as the camera quality, my choice was the Zino 2 simply because the colors to me, looked brighter, but also more vivid. There were some parts of the video that seemed a bit too bright, but it is a bright sunny day in this video. The Mavic Air 2 had a darker less appealing look to it, but the video image seemed a bit clearer. Even though it was hard to tell over the dark teng to the video. It seemed kind of like it was an overcast day in the Mavic Air 2's video quality. For the price the Hubsan Zino 2 isn't a bad choice for the average person. But for those that have deeper pockets and prefer the more refined quality and ease of use, the Mavic Air 2 is not a bad choice. In my opinion, most of the DJI drones are a bit over priced, but I guess when have such a large fan boy following, you can charge whatever you want. Hubsan does need to setup their game and improve flawed features in the Zino 2 as well as all the Zino's for that matter. Bottom line, its all about what you're buying a drone for and how much you can spend. If you're not a professional drone pilot (part 107), professional photographer, big money spender or nit picky of flight control quality details, the Zino 2 seemed to have a nicer more vivid video to me.

    Oh my, I have to say in the flight comparison, both have very good video quality.
    And in the stationary flight, The mavic had slightly better video quality than the zino.
    But overall, I'm extremely impressed on both drones.both have extra long range and great features.
    For $500 you can't go wrong with the zino.👍😀✈
    A and of course, the mavic drones are quite simply the very best still around.

    Great comparison Steve. I’ve been looking at the Hubsan Zion Pro Plus and I like the video better than the Magic. The picture is brighter on the Hubsan. I don’t know if there are brightness settings on the drones if there are than the pictures would probabl6 be the same. There was more wind in the stationary mode for the Hubsan looking at the trees for comparison. I’d like to see comparisons on drones in the $400 - $500 price range. Thanks.

    Nice Cap!
    I wish I had an accurate analysis from this, but I'm on a 1080p set, so I'm stuck with what ever down-sampling logarithm youtube uses, which likely skews what I see.
    That said, the Hubsan wins on clarity and crispness of image, yet overexposes enough to actually loose colors. (the backpack looks white).
    The Mavic has wonderful exposure, with maybe a touch of over saturation.
    Do you 4k viewers see this, or is it just the 1080 conversion doing it?

    The Zino is over exposed and the Air is too dark. Would exposure settings help?
    For the decision is between the mini 2 and the Zino. Which one would you take?
    I like the extra functions the Mini does not have, like tracking, but I am worried about the image. If exposure or filters can sort it out, I think the Zino might be better.

    Hello from Athens, Greece. Recently I bought Hubsan Zino 2. What I really see from your magnificent comparison, you done, I see in Mavic 2 more dark image than Zino 2 but more natural !? At Zino 2 more contrast at the colours but little white. As you said "you say me what is better" I can say that it as you say, something personal opinion. But can I ask If will change the explosure not to auto, may have the both drones the same image ? About the stability, yes you are right !!!! At low altitudes Zino 2 is not stayble as Mavic 2 which sometimes (personally) is over reacting and overcorrecting too fast.

    Hey Steve... I agree with several of the comments by others. Zino 2 has a warm value to the colors. Highlights are a bit washed out. Sharpness is almost dead on with the MA 2. The MA 2 video, is darker and grayer in tone. Think adjusting the EV on the MA 2 might make it a better video to watch. The Zino 2 for me had a more pleasing color to watch.
    Just re-watched my first MA 2 video from the other day. It is a bit dark, grayish. It was set to AUTO, and I saw the exposure adjust as I flew over an orange grove (lightening up); then adjust again out over an open field. After the first video, all subsequent ones were lagging and jerky. UGH! DJI suggested I reload the current firmware update. Did so. See what happens on the next flight.
    Thanks for your comparison..... Always interesting to watch split screen side-by-side. Easier to see the differences.

And as for the battery capacity in amperes hours and power of electric motors, who has better this indicator from the presented drones? After all, this affects the duration of the flight and speed.

    Steve I know you said not scientific. But what where the other settings. Was the Mavic Air in D-Cinelike? Was the zino in Auto exposure or set to overexposure. Anyway thanks for sharing.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 роки тому +2

      All settings on Auto as if the drones came straight out of the box. If you ever watch a camera comparison where the reviewer has adjusted the settings then that becomes misleading due to the reviewer fixing the camera weakness or worse, unintentionally making the image look unpleasant to viewers.

    The Zino's colours were too warm and overexposed in some areas ( your white legs ) and not really much you can do in a edit with a overexposed image!! The Mavic Air 2 was abit more natural in the colour's and some maybe abit dark but easily fixed in edit... great video as always 👍

    • @wesleyreid4420
      @wesleyreid4420 4 роки тому +3

      @Token2695 it's the default setting yes. So you can adjust them if you know what you are doing with shutter speed, white balance and exposure. I don't really know what options you have on the Zino 2 and how much you can change the settings. But still not a bad drone for $500 and if you don't have $800 just lying around the house lol. Personal I would save up the $300 extra and get the Mavic Air 2 as for most people the default setting would be good enough for what they need in the hobby. Maybe we need to see them with the setting changed to give the best image possible!! What do you think?

    • @InfinityDrones

      @Token2695 I think so too. I would love to see a properly exposed image from the Zino 2. But the Air 2 clearly has the better image. Zino 2 really looks good for the money though.

    First of all cpt drone your videos are the best non promotional videos out there i watch them all for years now i do have both of theise model's they are for different audiences the dji is for the mases the zino is1 b a budget drone but it is more complicated to run than the dji the. Zino 2 is great it was a huge drama getting it but it was worth it a little heavy but the two films are very good you pay 350 more for the dji. Lovem both!

    Can't you get into camera settings on these rtf drones ? Seems like it could be color corrected.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, but if I attempt to fix a camera that is not producing the correct image then I have a 50/50 chance of making the image worse. For the price you pay for these drones, the camera should be as smart as your cell phone in getting the colors and exposure correct.

    Well the problem with either camera is that we were not actually there to know what the colours should have been, the Mavic looked as if it had a filter, the Zeno looked as if that was the real world colours, but as they say, beauty in the eyes of the beholder.

    Happy Fathers Day Captain. MA2 has a more stable hover, assuming wind was similar. Zino 2 higher exposure level in auto? (does the app have full camera settings control?). So does $300 more for the MA2 just get you some obstacle avoidance, or is the overall user experience that much better?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 роки тому +1

      The extra $300 for the MAVIC AIR 2 gives you so many PRO FEATURES & Obstacle Avoidance. If I compared the two drones just on features alone, the Mavic Air 2 would win hands down. But if the end result of any drone is just the video quality, then here you have it. I should also not that the ZINO can not film into the sun due to lens flare, so it is best to film when sun is high or film away from the sun.

    Zino 2 was a little overexposed but the picture quality was still pretty good. Mavic Air 2 had better color saturation and was a bit more detailed. I gotta have me a Mavic Air 2. I don't think the Zino 2 has all of its issues worked out yet.

    Thank you very much for this video comparison, I was having difficulty in choosing a drone to buy, now I've found one, I've always loved the Mavic 2 zoom, but seeing this your video make me to choose Zino 2 plus. It is less expensive, and the video color is overexposed, I think I can work with that by controlling the video editor on the computer when editing. DJI drones are supper good no lies but consider the pocket friendly. I would however want to see the footage in jpg.

    You should set manually settings for Hubsan because image is overexposed so i can not compare

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  4 роки тому +5

      I avoid manual settings in Camera tests because once you do that, you then have a 50/50 chance of causing the resulting image to become unnatural on either drone which is then unfair.
