I swear I always look up to you, and get inspired by you soo much!! You are brave and always giving us so many ideas! If i ever get nervous…or start to stress.. I literally think of you, and remind myself how you would just go with the flow and have fun. ❤ im OVER THE MOON for this!!! I have alwayss wished all books were single sided. To be able to use/do more. Thank youuuu for sharing!!! And being the risk taker that im so not. Haha
I have heard you can use golden satin glazing liquid, or matte medium as well. I am still experimenting with other things. Also there is a transparent watercolor ground if you don't want to lighten the lines. I am trying to find a way to work in the cheap amazon paper books, where the markers don't bleed over the lines so badly.
Hi Debie! That's Amazing! I don't use markers, but so many Colorist sacrifice pages in their books in order to use the markers! I hope Everyone sees Your Video, You Are Brilliant!!😍💜😍
I was wondering about this I don't like markers because of the bleed through but the colors are pretty will have to try this as I love watercolor and gouache
What a grand idea... I see on the US Amazon; they also have a transparent ground by Daniel Smith. I think I might give that one a go. They have the 4 oz. jar for $13.25. It will be worth every penny to have it work! Thanks so much for sharing this amazing hack with us!
This is a game changer!!! I have recently begun using alcohol markers as a base, so this would be awesome to use on double sided books! What is the surface like after you put down the grounds? Is it rough?
I love that you could use watercolour as well. I use Stabilo, Pentel or Faber Castle Pitt pens these have a non alcohol ink, I'm new to colouring in a book, so if this not news to you forgive me. ☺
This is so revolutionary!! I've used Gesso, but it's rough. You said this one is smooth, does it work fine with pencils? I'm so excited, but just want to check it's Daniel Smith watercolour ground, buff titanium? Thanks so much for all the tips I've gotten from you over the years. Xxxxxx
I checked out US Amazon, which also sells this. They have white titanium, transparent and pearlescent. Wondering if it would matter which to buy/use? What is the color you're using Debi?
This is awesome! Thank you for the tip for sealing paper. I have been looking at those alcohol markers. Do they have a strong chemical/alcohol odor to them?
what is the gsm of the paper in your journal? This is important when discussing this topic. The paper sounds thick, especially if you were using watercolors. Try this on thinner paper or various weights to really test your idea.
You can also make watercolor ground: Mix 3 to 4 tsp of bicarbonate soda (bread soda, and available from the baking section of most supermarkets) into gesso
You can also use golden satin glazing liquid if its for marker bleedthrough it completely stops it

What a great tip! Thanks Debbie. Going to try that. I have some Daniel Smith watercolour ground.
Have fun!
They make the watercolor ground in transparent. Would that also work? That way it doesn't effect the lines of the picture?

This is great! I bought this markers last year but have not been able to use them 😩 but now I can. Thank you so much for sharing

I haven’t tried it with gouache, maybe I’ll have to give that a try!
I tried it. It does work. It leaves tour page having a sandy feeling once it dries.
Oh boy I have the Ohuhu too and I just got some Arteza alcohol markers with brush tips. So now buy some of this! thanks so much for showing us!
I have this product I thought it was only for watercolor you are amazing thank you for sharing love xoxoxo❤
Debi, I’m trying this technique out on a little design in an inexpensive Amazon print book to see how it works. I’ll let you know. Thanks for the tip.
Awesome thanks for showing what you found out. I also like that it is smooth!

Brilliant ❤
I use watered-down wood glue for a cheaper option. Doesn’t work with pencil as well but great for alcohol markers! ❤️🇦🇺
You are so clever! Can't wait to see the completed page 💖
Just ordered me some 👏👏❤❤❤
Thank you! I tried this and no bleeding, however, the lay down was very streaky and the pigments were not nearly as rich. Any suggestions? Thanks!❤
👍❤ty x
Awesomeness 😊 do you think it’ll work on all types of paper?

I don’t notice a smell anymore but at first I did

I tried this on my disney mysteries colouring book and got tones of streaks how to i prevent this??
That comes down to more practice with alcohol markers. You may have figured that out by now, but I thought I’d comment just in case. 😊
Oh no! I bought satin glaze instead of watercolor ground 😢
