It's great. I recommend getting the Boss looper as well to have a buffer at the beggining and the end of your signal chain. Well worth it. All the BOSS pedals have buffered bypass.
I love BOSS pedals, have a tuner at the start and a looper at the end of the chain. Who needs dedicated buffer pedals just get the two most popular BOSS pedals and you're set.
checkitloud Because you used enough cable to make a difference. Most of these buffer vids only use 10-20 ft of cabling and in the end say "No difference". DUH! Buffering is for LONG cable lengths. Great video sir. That actually shows the difference. Now I run a wireless and that's why I got a Wampler dB-1 but talking to my amp repair guy, he told me that wireless units are usually buffered from the factory. Same with my older RP-10 that I sometimes use. What really makes my board sound good is the BBE Sonic mini stomp. Also need to recommend good cables. There's a pretty good cable test on UA-cam that's tests 79 cables. Mine don't even test good in this test but I spent too much on all that I got so I'm sticking with them. But only have about 20-25 ft of cabling from wireless to amp. Not enough to hurt sound much.
wait... i thought all boss pedals were buffered anyway? i never tested it, thats just what i heard. if so, wouldnt this really be all about a true bypass feature? i guess what im asking is... are all boss pedals buffered or not? and if not all, which ones are?
checkitloud thank you for the reply. I fortunately haven't had such issue, but some friends have and they say it is like playing through a blanket. Keep it up!
checkitloud I'm glad you didn't! haha you should make a video comparison between this pedal and an older one (I've heard that "blanket" issue mostly on the older TU-2) to compare the evolution on Boss' buffers, it would be awesome! Cheers
More tops through the buffer but it also sounds more compressed. I kinda prefer the straight through sound even though that loss of treble might be considered 'tone suck'.
Thanks for your comment Cam! I agree, in many cases it's nothing to worry about. As long as you don't have an issue with your sound/tone, just keep playing! And as you said, it can even be part of your tone altogether. Thanks for stopping by!
I came to that conclusion with my own little pedal collection recently. I TREASURE clarity, but I was just finding the responsiveness and interaction of guitar and amp really lacking with even really high-quality buffers in my chain. Back to all true-bypass, and I miss the high-end, but I gotta say... worth it 🤷🏼♂️ Guess I’ve come full-circle in like 10-15 years of being obsessed with pedals 😜😂
You're welcome and thanks for your comment! Good question and unfortunately I'm not able to check that for you. I personally don't think it'll change the tone too much but I could be wrong.. I don't like turning off the buffer in my delay as it kills the trails when you turn the delay off but it was necessary for this demo. :) Thanks again!
@@richieknight5423 thanks for response...i've seen quite a bit of both....the one thing that i wish someone would invent is the pop remover for when we hit switches...nothing like dropping 200 on a boutique 2 channel od and then having to use it as always on or off because switching sounds like a gun going off....
Thanks man! :) It's my own rough demo of a track I will turn into a solid tune sometime. I just don't have the time, haha. Thanks again man, I appreciate it.
Thanks brother! I was scared I made a mistake buying this guy. Now question so that I’m sure. When you had it on buffered that’s with the tuner off? Sorry new guitarist here lol. Great job!
Jose Delacerda When the tuner is engaged all sound cuts out. Buffered means the pedal is making up for all the tone lost over such a long cable and without buffer it’s true bypass meaning the pedal isn’t doing anything at all
Great video! Is the buffer in this significantly better than the TU3?(huge difference in price) Also, should I just get a dedicated buffer instead like the analogman one?
Thank you Evan! I unfortunately don't have both but BOSS may have updated the buffer in the WAZA version. Though, I expect them to be very similar. The main advantage of this WAZA version is simply that you can bypass the buffer in case you have a great buffer already. If you decide to switch things up and don't have room for that extra buffer, you have the option to turn it back on. If you like that flexibility, I guess the TU-3W is a good investment as I personally think it has a great buffer. If you don't care, just go for the TU-3! :) Thanks again! Maurits
I'm not a fan of buffers but decided to try the analogman standalone buffer to try out Mike's adage that you probably don't like buffers because you've never tried a good one. I didn't like his any better than the boss ones...which is no slur on him because his pedals are amazing. Just not for me.
Depends what sound and setup you are looking for. There are millions of sounds and millions of different setups (software, hardware, midi, a mix etc. etc.)
checkitloud Oh thank you! That really helps! I thought you're just talking about pedals and amps so I didn't pay attention. Now it turns out not very noticeable for 30 feet in total. I would say the buffer is better than nothing.
First off thanks for the vid. Obviously ANY buffer can run your signal thru a ton of cable or true bypass pedals etc. and make things bright again. What most of us really want to know is how does the signal with the buffer engaged differ from our guitar plugged with a normal guitar cable ( 10-15 ft ) straight into our amp. All you did was demonstrate that the buffer works. Not give us a logical point of reference for how it is effecting our tone. Why not put a few feet of cable on both sides, play, and switch the pedal back and forth from Buffer to true bypass with no breaks or talking in between? Anything other than that really isn't helping much. Your sound quality on your vid and production is very good btw.
No shit, but the Waza buffers are the highest quality and the tu3 waza is a switchable buffer. No other boss pedals have switchable buffers for a true bypass option.
Was it only me who found it funny that he said, "thanks so much for tuning in"?
Thank you for this video! I thought buffered would’ve meant a duller sound but it’s actually keeping it clearer! Buffer good! 👍🏻
"subtle" meaning huge.
Truly such a good video for anyone who talks about true bypass as being the "best." I'm grabbing this guy soon to get that buffer in my life.
It's great. I recommend getting the Boss looper as well to have a buffer at the beggining and the end of your signal chain. Well worth it. All the BOSS pedals have buffered bypass.

Thank you. I could not figure out why I needed a $150 tuner pedal, but I knew there had to be a reason.
2023 and I just did the same thing
Now that's how you do a demo!
Great video, thanks! I like the black look, might end up getting it after all.
Thanks for watching! William! I'm sure you'll like it. It's a solid tuner and yes, the black finish is pretty cool.
That's actually a pretty big difference.
Agreed! :)

Buffered sounded clearer to me.
Yeah, definitely helps keeping the brightness of your guitar tone intact. Thanks for watching!
This or the Polytune 3?

The spec of this pedal can be found on the Boss website. That will answer your question.
And it was all... Black!
huge difference
Great video! did you notice any difference in touch sensitivity/dynamics when using the buffer?
Thanks Andrés! I actually haven't! Have you encountered that with certain buffers? Interesting point!
checkitloud thank you for the reply. I fortunately haven't had such issue, but some friends have and they say it is like playing through a blanket. Keep it up!
That's interesting. It definitely didn't feel like you described!

The only thing I’D really consider “tone suck” would be a BAD buffer! This, at least, sounds like a pretty good one!
Many pedals have a treble boost nowadays anyway.
@@yobhsiFehT Tone suck isn't only caused by a buffer. Many factors are / can be involved.
Thanks for the video.
How does it sounds if you use the tuner in true bypass and the delay in buffered bypass ?
You're welcome and thanks for your comment!

Nice demo!
Thank you Nathan! :) I'm still a big fan of your content as well!
I think I'm going to save the $50 and just get the regular TU-3.
Fair enough! :)
Should there be a buffer at the beginning and the end of the chain?Just the beginning?
Anywhere that doesn’t interfere with other effects.
One should suffice.
There's no right or wrong, it's all a matter of circumstances (your setup).

haha!! prefer the sound thru 50ft of cable hands down! Wish Boss put a buffer disable switch on all their stuff.
To each his own, that's why I demoed it. :) Thanks for watching!

The tremble loss is proportional to the length of cable, then how long is the cable you use?
On 0:46 I'm explaining how much cable I use in this example. :) Does that help?

That's the AM radio switch
Finally! A pedal demo that isn't out of tune! Oh wait.....
Holly cow! That was not subtle at all. The difference was pretty noticeable. Buffered sounded much better to my liking.
Vs polytune 3 .. who win?

I hope Boss is paying you something, because you just sold many of these pedals.
All boss pedals are buffered.
No shit, but the Waza buffers are the highest quality and the tu3 waza is a switchable buffer.
