Magnificent scenery,exceptionally nice folks,prices to die for,sunshine forever,turquoise and clear clean waters, and very little hustle and hassle or dudes trying to rip you off at the first chance! Got to agree that the prices on the lesser visited islands are amazing! The best price that we got was 45 euros for a beachfront apartment in Naxos, and they even charged just 40 euros in cash for us to extend 👌
That isn't bad, Greece is really affordable in general. Are you guys still on the islands or did you move on to another country? It would be great to meet up, but coordinating the schedules of travelers can be tricky.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Unfortunately we left just around the time you arrived in Greece, we are in Turkey now. Coordinating is definitely difficult as the majority of us are usually a week or 2 behind on our video posts, some other vloggers are even months behind. It would have been awesome to meet up but i'm sure we will be in a similar area at some point once again :D We somehow met LifeofJord 3 times on our travels without ever arranging to be in the same place haha. The last time we met him in Beirut and he ended up running into jason billam the next morning without arranging anything, bizarre lol.
@@willnash568 I think it's probably only really touristy in the main months of july/august. We were there in mid June and there weren't many people around, many places were completely empty even and only we were there. only Santorini and Mykonos had many people during our trip.

For the longest time, I was set on Italy being my retirement destination. But due to allergies and really needing a drier climate (and I hate humidity) with less vegetation I will give much more consideration to Greece when the time finally comes. Especially Crete.
Where you in North Italy? Crete is fine ,if you want a large town you can also consider Athens (dry climate ,less humidity , one and a half months of (Athenian) winter)...

I imagine most of your English speaking expats are British. I'm from the U.S. but lived 10 years outside my country so assimilation or getting homesick is never an issue...it's coming back that makes me sad!

The Liguria region was quite tolerable when I've been there and that was the region I had always set my eyes on, though I've only been there June-August. I know pollen can be an issue for me as far south as Naples. And in Rome and Naples there was such an unforgiving and nasty humidity at times...I wouldn't live in the south but maybe parts of Sicily could be better. As far as Crete I was thinking Chania or Agios Nikolaos. I hope to be very close to a nice beach in retirement!
loved seeing this video. I spent 3 months on Nisyros in 2018 when i was at univeristy doing a geolgoy degree. myself and three mates made geological maps of the volcano for our degrees. So nice to see Popi , Irene's restaurant in the square with the tree, all the familiar faces and memories of the island.

I love Greece. Most places got a few downsides to it but I have a hard time thinking about one for Greece. Last time I was there I got some home made raki from a local restaurant to take home with me.

Definitely affordable.. I love the island jumping. It's cheap to do and these small communities with around 1,000 ppl really makes it interesting. I hate big crowds like Paris.. Amsterdam is different the people are so kind.

Hi Gabriel ! the island you mention and you didn't know the name and that something is going on on it is called Gyali ,is a volcanic located halfway between the south coast of Kos and Nisyros. It consists of rhyolitic obsidian lava domes and pumice deposits. The island has two distinct segments, with the northeastern part almost entirely made of obsidian and the southwestern part of pumice. ! Have a good holidays !

Oh god. Gyros used to be like 1.6 euros, then it went to 2 euros+ and now at 3 euros. It's actually mega expensive for our standards and people are going crazy about it.

I got two Gyros for like 6 Euro (there is no Euros, no plural of this word) when I was in Greece, god damn, was so stuffed, couldnt eat next couple days, but was so hungry when I ordered it
I wasn't paying attention on Nisyros. But it's 2.60 euros per liter on Tilos. That's more than $10 a gallon. Luckily it isn't a problem because there isn't far to go. I put 10 euros in my motorbike and it lasted for two days.

Naxos is a very tourist island, it good the price is still good

It consists of rhyolitic obsidian lava domes and pumice deposits. Just read "Most Hilarious Thing.."... I liked the story on Hwy 50... in 2004 I volunteered at the Telluride Bluegrass Fest then went out to northern Calif then rode Hwy 50 the other way-- from Sacramento to Gallup, New Mexico.... I also stopped in Fallon, NV and even wrote a song about it...

Oh god. Gyros used to be like 1.6 euros, then it went to 2 euros+ and now at 3 euros. It's actually mega expensive for our standards and people are going crazy about it.
3euros is cheap given that a cheese pie for example is 2

I got two Gyros for like 6 Euro (there is no Euros, no plural of this word) when I was in Greece, god damn, was so stuffed, couldnt eat next couple days, but was so hungry when I ordered it
You take 2 (pita)gyros only if you are very hungry! Next time better take 1 gyros and a portion of potatoes...

I wasn't paying attention on Nisyros. But it's 2.60 euros per liter on Tilos. That's more than $10 a gallon. Luckily it isn't a problem because there isn't far to go. I put 10 euros in my motorbike and it lasted for two days.

I was watching one of my other videos of Nisyros from three years ago and they were 2.50.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos maybe 2.50 in islands. In mainland they were 2-2.20 and as of today they are 3.30+ in mainland. That's like 50% increase. It is weird that you found gyros with 3 euros.
