I always thought they were saying "The bear said I can" instead of "The best that I can" LOL. This was and still is one of my favorite songs!
Because the song's about the dude wanting to love a girl while a bear denies him that.
At the beginning of the song, I used to think they were saying "peas and hominy" instead of "peace and harmony".

From now on, it's "the bear said I can" when I sing along to this song 😊😊😊
If you grew up in the 90s it's kinda weird how much things have changed....
Shit if you think things have changed since then imagine growing up in the 70s 80s whole different world
It’s sad man. Since I was born in 79 I can’t speak for the 70’s haha but yes the 90’s was so simple and fun. God damn I miss it
Not only is their music timeless, they are from my home town Columbia South Carolina which is a bonus!

What a great song, it is and always will be
Does anyone else they think are seriously under-rated
not sure you can say underrated, they did have one of the best selling albums in history.
@@derek1604 I was just saying the radio doesn’t play them as often as they should. I also didn’t know he was lead singer on Hootie and the Blowfish either.
This song rocks!!!! Hootie and The Blowfish are the coolest rock band ever from the 90's.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
mmwonka dude.. just heard this track a couple weeks ago and I forgot how fuckin good it is!!
Ain't rock,it's more country with a little bit rock but the sound, incredible ❤❤❤
One of the best concerts. I have ever been to. He sounds exactly the same live 💪
Can confirm! Saw him in Ohio singin his country blues. Broke out the Hoot and the audience exploded
What an amazing talent he has! That voice sounds so good no matter what kind of music he is singing.
This song could heal the world 💜💜💜💜
The band that took me from a country fan to a rock fan. This is the album I go to when I need to be picked back up. It was a thrill to be from the Columbia, SC area as a middle schooler when these guys were taking off!
I’m a fan of both kinds of music! I love his country music too.
My memory of this great band brought me here - still as great as first time I ever heard them.
This sh!T was my jam during the 90s!!!!
This song still holds up in 2024!
Hootie and the blowfish are such a unique band, take each band member they each randomly represent a genre of rock and togethe they create somehting unique and beautiful, there has never been a banf like them
_"Is anyone else hearing Hootie and the Blowfish, mkay?"_
"..softly in the background..." :) ...mmalright...
This song reminds me of a great, carefree time in my life, when me and my partner in crime had the best time. I'm 44 now, where did those years go. Amazing song and group, one of the best from the 90s.
i found the song i was looking for... thx Pc principal.
Love this man’s voice!!!
Hootie is the best "drinking alone" music. I still have the original CD. I just listened to it today actually.
Cracked Rear View was one of the best 90´s albums. Still got mine too.
Drinking alone and burning some tree listening to it. Super prime
drinking alone as i read this[:
Haven't heard this since I was little and just started randomly singing it in my head the other day. Now I can't stop listening to it. I miss being a kid.
Oh dude bro
Would you be able to recommend songs that are like this?
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! :)
I MISS BEING A BABY BACK THEN
Same! I’m 31 now.
Hootie and the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View was my very first CD, my second CD was Green Day - Dookie.. Still goes hard today, even in that south park episode!
WOW Clint H. my 1st too :) Yup green day! awesomeness!
Wasn't my first but had both
My first CD was a Jerry Seinfeld standup show. I listened to comedians when I went to bed instead of music most nights. But I sure did love Billy Joel's best hits!
Oh man they were my first 2 cds too just flipped. Dookie first then hootie! 3rd was smashing pumpkins melancholy and the infinite sadness. Followed by 311 and Mariah Carey fantasy haha. Hootie was the best album of that bunch and smashing pumpkins a nice 2nd.
The 90s were so good! I loved them!
Damn I love how 90's this song and video are, it was a simpler time.
When I was in the second grade, my dad bought me a CD player and the only cd I could find was hootie. I listened to this song every day for like 2 years. I hold this album near and dear to my heart.
MAD BAM same but mine was on cassette and I used to rewind with an HB pencil as it was faster then my rewind button 🤣
I’ve broken out in song hearing this in restaurants before and I enjoy every moment of it. Brings back so many memories.
I hope you have gotten free meals!
My favorite song on a well put together album..Hootie and The Blowfish had 94\95 on lockdown..way to go guys
