Sylvester was EVERYTHAAAAAANG and I will always pay homage to him BUT Martha's note at 3:44... BABBBBYYYYYYYY now that was LIIIIIIIIIIFE. So sad I never got to enjoy him live.
To Really know this song is to know those three actually loved each other...Two are gone on to the heavenly choir and Martha is taking it easy these days but still touring! Kudos to you all!
I cant stop listening to this song. I truely love the harmony & upbeat-ness of this song. I love those 1st 2 verses!! & Big ups to Sylvester not being scared to be himself!!!! Pride!!
Its amazing how songs just takes you back , but I keep revisiting the Sylvester videos over and over and it makes me so happy. These songs brings tears to my eyes just knowing that time in my life will never be again, but thru videos I can relive my youth, pretend I can still dance, I smile remembering where I was and who I was with whenever I hear Sylvester, Martha , and Izora playing my jams. The tears I have are for Sylvester, and all my gay friends back in the day who was taken away before they really had a chance to live, and make their futures, Sylvester must have felt he needed to keep strong, and not give in to outside pressures to conform, because he accomplished what he set out to do letting nothing stand in his way knowing he was putting all he could in the time he was with us. So I cry for him, and all the great memories his songs left me with, and for all my friends who let this teenage straight girl into their world back then showing me Sylvester and his music, and allowing me to have some of the best times ever. Also RIP Ms.Izora for tearing a song up. Well wishes to Martha. To these 3, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...🎤🎤🎤
I really love this! Thanks for sharing this. I miss Sylvester & Patrick Cowley, Izadora Duncan & so many more who have left us too early. They will always be remembered by their great talent! That's what keeps them alive in my heart ♥
Amazing! Simply Amazing. These 3 took you from your bedroom straight to church and back. And how nice to see Patrick Cowley in back behind Martha doin' his thing on his synthesizers- such a rare clip of Patrick, as I've only seen a short snippit of another one in which the camera quickly pans by him. Those 4 were it. And when they performed on Sylvester's LIVING PROOF album they rocked that San Francisco Opera House!
It didn't get any better. I so wish he was still here. He was the QUEEN! LOL! He really couldn't be controlled. He did pretty much what he dreamed. I followed Sylvester from my teen years, my getting married n having my kids, until he passed, thanks to my gay friends they cramed me with his AWESOMENESS!! I fell in-love with him, I loved him more than they. I was the ONLY female among all my gay bff's I did hair n make-up but most of them did too. They did it just because. We met in high school the gay boys LOVED my make-up, they gave me tips, n I gave them tips. LOL! Sylvester was our idol. WE treasured him. He will NEVER b4gotten.
The sad thing is, out of the singers in this video, only one is alive, the criminally underrated Martha Wash, a vice that was constantly stolen and used for models to lip synch to
it was such a fun time. Our Sylvester was a ground breaker.I wish he were still with us so that we could thank him and pay homage to his courage. He left us too soon but then again, that gig he has in heaven????To die for....
i always marvel at the thought of where sylvester would be, if, he were still around today? he was always an innovator of dance music. so, i'm sure that he'd be into the newest/ hottest style of music. whatever, he'd be doing? i'm sure that he'd be a success at it! ;) i do miss his presence, so. :(
"FRANKLIN FUENTES" UA-cam CHANNEL he'd be retired. not one to shy the lights if he couldn't be the center off and away with them..... gracious one every other night or they'd exhaust me. and I was an in my prime teen then.
Love and Peace! I when Sylvester sang it was a real Party on the dance floor! Not to mention the Two Tons of fun Martha and Izora the voices of angels!
wowww I can see Patrick Cowley on Keyboards/Synthi…? My all time Hero seeing him playing in real...? I have some tears in my eyes Wowwww what a Legend Mr.Patrick Cowley the godfather of Electronic Dance Music...? Thank you for the Video Clip Amazing......
Saw them perform this live in San Francisco late 1970's at one of the gay clubs south of Market, OMG the memories! This video is closest to what I saw live. Love it!!!
I remember Sylvester back in the 70s,,he was of the singers that opened the door for disco to come in,,his songs were and high energy level,,I remember once in awhile I'll sing this in my head,,almost 50 yrs old,,time goes by fast..😭
that was a fun time back then, pure talent, live funky ass band,no gimmicks,no voice box,no autotune,no computer generated sounds at all, thank you so much for downloading this,it made my evening
I LOVE hearing this live. "Living Proof" became one of the albums I NEVER let anyone borrow. They could only borrow it if they were bringing me along with it, haha! The bass player and Patrick Cowley looks so yummy! It's a shame that a horrific, idiotic virus (look at the letters) took the lives of Sylvester and Patrick...so much more was to be done.
You stepped up and gave we hick ‘occkers ‘ something to take our breath away .. peace , love and all that grows you, me an all of us…. RIP John , loved that pirate sleeve look so so much , your remembered well as a big hitter and one of a kind performer . Triple threat like Marcia , just saying .. ps Kate Ceberano in that ausie line up too xoxoxo ❤
This song to me is reguvinating to me. And September 6 would have been his 74th birthday 🎂. RIP Sylvester and thank you for your music and it is still being heard even in 2021..
I was in my early teens when Don Kirschners rock concert was on, i think it went on at one a.m., i would come home from school, and a shift at work, i was getting a glorious $4 an hour, i would eat dinner, shower, take a quick nap, set my alarm for 30 mins before showtime. WOW. I would just sit back and be amazingly entertained. Mondays i would go into NYC, midtown after school and before work, to buy the .45 or LP of the song that i loved the most. I realize now that i have more years behind me than i do in front of me. Baby those were the greatest days. When i would go out with a group of friends and get into a club, or the PALLADIUM on 14th st. It was sheer heaven. Their was no Political Correctness, we never used LABELS, gay, lesbian, black, white, Rican, we had a DIVERSE crowd, always looking out for each other. Anyway to bring those times back, i would gladly take it. G-d bless em, we shall all meet again.
I’m assuming you are referring to Martha Wash because Sylvester never did house music... it wasn’t around in his time. Sylvester did disco and R&B music
What a pity that producers - e.g. Giorgio Moroder - didn't see enough "fantasy" in Sylvester. (S)he (and the Weather Girls) had more potential to have more hit singles - like many artists in this genre.
RIP Beautiful Man and Izola...This Ms. Martha is Still Slaying!!! Sylvester and This Band Just Slayed, "Over and Over" ( My Favorite Song)...
NOTHING like hearing Sylvester & Two Tons of Fun sing this LIVE!!!
Until this day, Sylvester is still mesmerizing..Bring this music back.
This is live! This is amazing! No tricks. No fakery! Just pure, live, spot-on harmonies and a killer band backing them up. Wow!
Sylvester was EVERYTHAAAAAANG and I will always pay homage to him BUT Martha's note at 3:44... BABBBBYYYYYYYY now that was LIIIIIIIIIIFE. So sad I never got to enjoy him live.

Narada Michael Walden hit every important point; a crisp, positive read. A great honor to Sylvester.

Sylvester James Phillips 1947 - 1988 iconic
That damn bass line! Damn!!!!!
Speaking of the word unsung, Bob Kingson is one of the most underrated bassists of that era!
David Overton hell yes!!!!!
The Scatman is that so? What other songs do you know of that he’s played on? (Not necessarily of Sylvester’s, but in general)
I treasure this time frame...Love those Weathergirls and Jeani Tracy
