I love it so much that her wonderful little mind thought, "We're going to the Jungle!" for a second before she settled on the zoo. In her world both are equally possible! That's how exciting every child should think the world is!
It’s incredible 😁
Gotta love kids! Lol. And she is very smart to associate the two.
John is amazing for wanting to make sure the kiddos know they are part of the family 🥰
He really is
Best is that he could share that thought while getting his makeup done. Good job Darcy.
I have fostered about 300 kids in my 40 yrs of fostering and it is so good to do inclusive family holidays and outings with all kids. Many have never been on holiday and it makes the placement very strong to treat all kids as equals it breaks my heart that some carers put them in respite. I still have a lot of.contact with kids l had when l started my fostering journey. I only have 1 8 yr old girl now as my health is declining but love every minute of being with her she has learning difficulties but is a real talker so never a dull moment. She broke her arm for the fourth time last week on the neighbours trampoline and wandered home and said mum my arm is broken can we get an xray but l want dinner first. She has two breaks one above and one below her elbow and she chattered nonstop for 3 hours in the emergency room. I caught her last night hanging out the top window of her bedroom watching stars at 1am this morning she assured me that her arm is broken and the cast will protect her from.more breaks. I got what we call puppy dog eyes that she needed a hot drink and a biscuit to go back to sleep.
Darcy asks all the important questions "Where am I going to eat?!" 😂 Yass darcy that would be a concern for me too. 🙌❤️
As a former foster youth that usually went to restbet while my foster family went on vacation. Thank you, Watching you guys on your journey makes me have hope.
One of the more memorable experiences with one of my foster daughters was a weekend trip with my brother, his wife and son. We went to Missouri see the eclipse a few years ago. We had so much fun and I found out on the way there, it was the first time my foster daughter, who was 16, had left Oklahoma. The whole experience was more meaningful for us all once we knew that!
Amazing experience to share!
I just wanna say I think it’s wonderful you’re getting Miss A a gift for when she goes home. There was a season in time where I had two younger sisters in a foster home. After they came home (about a year) we tried to inform the foster family of birthdays so they could see them still but it didn’t work out.
It’s admirable that you made the attempt 💛
Whitney, thanks for the great video!
I was single mom when my boys were growing up. I didn't have a lot of money so I found ways to do anything that cost a small amount cash.
We did so many things, like a trip to Death Valley and the Grand Canyon but also stayed close to home and would take the boys to a place near where we lived that had small scale trains but large enough to ride on them (Medford Oregon Railroad Park). Sometimes, it's worth it to spend the money because the memories are priceless!
I was a voracious yard saler when my boys were little, for the same reason. I could get lots of great stuff for a little bit. I used to take my kids too and allowed them to buy one item. We used to have a saying at yard sales and Antique stores:
"Look with your eyes, not with your hands".
Thank you for all you do. Marianne
Love this!
It’s all crusty on the outside 😂.. your garage sale footage was amazing! John is a beast with that camera work!
Yes he is! And miss a was right, it was a bit rough around the edges but a gem inside!
"Where am I going to eat?" Darcy asking the important questions. (Speaking of eating, that Moana backpack for the snacks is too cute!!)
That Bath and Body works Stress lotion smells so good! Have you tried the others? I have Sleep, Comfort, and Energy, and they all smell amazing (Comfort is my favourite, though). I'm not fully convinced they "work" for what they're supposed to, but even if it's just a placebo effect, they smell wonderful.
Miss A's sisters are going to love their gifts. :) And that bracelet for Miss A is so pretty. What a sweet (and tangible) reminder that you'll always be there for her even after she goes back home should she even need some extra support (NOT saying her bio family won't be supportive, but sometimes it helps to have extra people in your corner, too).
By NO means am I telling you what to do (and gift giving is lovely and generous, of course), but keeping the Baby Alive doll is a pretty good idea. Kids learn through play, so it's just one more thing to normalize and promote diversity for your kids, their friends who may come over, future foster kids, cousins...any kid. It could also help non-white kids who visit or future foster kids feel more at home if they see dolls that "look like" them already in the home. :)
"He has lost all of his garage sale privledges." lol Poor, cranky Sawyer. Seems like he was feeling more like himself after his nap, though.
"The jungle!" LOL Well, she is super correct that monkeys do, in fact, live in jungles. However, I'm not sure Cleveland is known for it's jungles. Too cute. I bet the zoo was just as fun, though.
You look really pretty in that top and those earrings you were wearing on the Sunday morning!! You're beautiful all the time though, so it's nothing out of the ordinary. :)
I miss vacations. I was supposed to go away for my 30th birthday in May, but COVID had other plans. I'm REALLY hoping I can go somewhere in May 2021 for my birthday and graduation, but that's not looking too likely at the moment either. Both places I would consider going to have been COVID hotspots (and one is out of country, and that's a no-no with borders being affected by COVID). Of course, that's a bit away so maybe things will change, but I'm not exactly looking to contract COVID (or spread it asymptomatically) for my birthday/graduation. I'm glad your family has been able to travel, though!! And I love, love, love your thoughts on normalcy and including foster kiddos in your family as a true part of it. :)
Hope you get to travel soon safely! Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Your family is so awesome to consider diversity and inclusion. It will make a huge difference in their future! TY so much!!
You guys are a great family. I really like you too whitney, great personality. Amazing smile
“Just in case she gets *snacky* “
Snacky is a way of life.
I've been considering fostering/adoption a lot more in the last year. One of the things I thought we weren't allowed was to go on vacations with foster kids. Growing up, family vacations were one of those precious memories. I'm so glad to see its a possibility!
Who else almost cried when she showed the family bracelet haha
I really love how close and dear Miss A, is with your biological children. I think that is really special and i hope they can always remain a bond. ❤💕❤💕
Same here
Thanks for sharing your trip and experience. I love that you explain the different perspectives and take into consideration the bio parents' feelings!!
You both make very good points. Lovely vlog. And your top that you’re wearing at the end is gorgeous! Glad you all had a good getaway ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your vacation. Loved it! ❤❤❤❤❤👍🏽👍🎶🎵
Nothing better than a vacation, long or short.
Just when I think I can't adore you guys anymore you go making me love you guys more! I love that you guys think of her siblings and support that relationship! You guys are awesome! 🙌❤️
Glad you all had so much fun. Best of luck to Miss A
Awesome family values. Love you guys
They have stress relief for handsantize at bath and body works.
Enjoyed this vlog of the village fam!
Um, okay Darcy - I am so jealous that you got to FEED the girraffe! That is so cool!
Isn’t it?! She loves it!
Wow, I did not know that garage sales could be so large and organized and with all much stuff!
Yes! Hidden treasures.
This vlog was so well done and really fun to watch :) you all are such a fun family! I love how you show things like forgetting a carrier or stroller, vlogging without makeup, etc, it is SO relatable and puts a smile on my face :)
So glad you enjoyed it ❤️❤️❤️
It looks like you had a great time!
I am so thankful for you guys! I’m learning so much about foster care and the system! We still have another 5 years until we can foster. But thank you for your advice!
❤️
Amazing museum. Loved the Elvis & Jimi Hendrix displace. I live here n Memphis where Graceland is. Elvis is my altime favorite. His house was lit up n pink for a few days. Yes foster kids should b allowed to go on vacations with there foster parents. U 2 r great ‼️💗🥰❤️💜
Pretty funny that Sawyer lost his garage sale privileges! I don’t think he is too broken up over that! Looked like a fun trip, especially Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the zoo!
Hope you feel better!
I just went to Cleveland in August for the first time. I LOVE the RnR HOF!
How cool!
I'm orignally from Huron, right on Lake Erie. We were 7 houses from the lake. Have so many fond memories living there.
It’s a beautiful view 💛
Love your channel
Love this Vlog 💕👍 love from Australia 🇦🇺
Speaking of Australia, saw a Koala for the first time at the Columbus zoo!
That flat is super beautiful. :)
It really is!
What a fun trip! The loft looks amazing! We just got a GoPro and haven’t taken it out of the box yet lol but the quality of your GoPro video is amazing!
Enjoy using the GoPro! Mainly I now shoot with my canon eos m50 but the garage sale footage is with john’s GoPro 8!
@@BeTheVillageCommunity I use a canon m50 too. We plan on using the GoPro when we’re out and about and active. They get embarrassed when I bust out with a big camera in public lol.
YAYYYYYY JOHN!!!!! You're 2 cents is worth a million bucks as far as I'm concerned!!!
Poor Darcy I’m allergic to mosquito bites too it’s the WORST!
when I get bitten the bites swell up really big (width wise) & look like welts. Benadryl normally takes the bites back down to size, but I know Benadryl makes most people really tired.
How does Darcy feel about knowing Miss A will be going home soon?
We’ve talked about this and we will talk about it again in the future :)
I LOVR LOVE LOVE that you were thinking of keeping that doll because is was so called “different” than a lot of the other ones. I think that is one of the coolest things that you thought of that to promote diversity... I don’t think many parents would think of that! I hope I’m like that when I become a parent, honestly!
Representation matters
Wow, John needs to speak up more, you both are absolutely amazing .
Hi, from the shores of Maine. 🌊 🦞 🌲
One day... we will get there 😉
That loft looks awesome!! I hope y’all had a good trip!
It was! Really enjoyed our stay.
Oh I forgot u got some very good buys at the sale.
I love Lake Erie 😍
Miss a said it looked fake lol.
Your house is beautiful 😍😍
It’s a VRBO loft we stayed in just for a couple nights.
"The jungle!!" So confident! 😂😂🐒🐒
(p.s I hope you have a better-fitting baby-wearing device at home because my back was aching for you on this trip!!)
We do :) this was a temporary fix and yes... my back was hurting lol
I had to stop this and comment after John spoke about making the kids in your home feel included...YES!!! I am not a foster parent (one day I hope to be) and I’ve never been in foster care, but I have always been absolutely infuriated when I hear of families going on vacations and leaving their foster kids at home, buying Christmas gifts for their birth children but not buying anything for the other children, making the foster kids use their own allowance or whatever to buy their own gifts...it’s just WRONG. I guess I put myself in their shoes and I think of how I would feel if I were that child and was being treated that way. If you’re going to foster then those kids need to be treated as you would treat your own kids. Just because they aren’t your kids doesn’t mean they should be any less valued by you and if that’s how you feel, then DON’T be a foster parent. #rantover
I did respite for a vacation once, my now daughter has multiple medical needs and I was a single mom of 3 two year olds. So she stayed with a friend of mine while I took the twins to Florida for 3 days
❤️ and that’s why every family and child is different. Of course we all make the best decision we can at the time! Much love to you.
"It's crusty outside" yeah that's 2020 for you lmao
There definitely was some nice weather here in Cleveland this past weekend. I've actually never been to Cuyahoga Valley National Park but I know it's a fun place. Glad you guys enjoyed your trip!
❤️❤️
❤️
Miss A needs to do a UA-cam channel when she leaves...
You are close to where I live by Lake erie
I had to go to respite caregiver so my foster family could go on family holidays
I'm sorry to hear that. Are you comfortable sharing how that felt?
There's a thing called bug bite that you can order for around $10. Non invasive, no chemicals. I got one for my grandson (5 yrs old) that is also highly allergic. Works wonderful!
YES the bug bite thing is a life saver
you can also dab a little tea tree oil on the bite.
I use to be super allergic to mosquitoes as a kid. They would get swollen and blister and was not a fun time.
I gotta get better at my garage sale game
🤣
Get a BiteAway to help with the bites. It’s hot for a short bit, but the bite then shrinks and goes away very quickly thereafter.
Just bought it with same day delivery, thanks for the tip! Miss A has so many bites 😢
When I was growing up we had neighbors (no idea how the afforded the neighborhood because as far as we saw they never went to a job) that were horrible trash human beings. They used to go on vacation and take their bio kids with them and leave their foster kids at home. They sometimes had 6 foster kids. There is a long story about them going away and leaving the kids alone with no adults and practically no food. We found out because the kids came over asking to borrow a loaf of bread. Of course my mother fed them a real homemade dinner and called the foster agency but the kids weren't immediately removed. They were not fostering for the right reasons, to them the kids were just a paycheck. We ended up moving because of them. My parents spent 2 years trying to get them shut down but it never happened. My mom just couldn't handle watching the poor kids living like that for years and no matter what she did it never got fixed.
💕😇👍!!!!
My son if he gets bit they are like golf balls !
Same with Darcy!
How on earth did I not have whitney's channel on my subs on UA-cam (I've known about it for the better part of a year thanks to watching john's channel and I think I've been watching john for almost 2 years now....) Yet I have John's... hmmmm....
Well I’m super excited you’re here now 💛
I was hoping to see Fiona the hippo!
Amy Sloane Fiona is at the Cincinnati zoo.
When we visit our zoo in Cincy I’ll show Fiona :)
Could you go on vacation to a different country with a foster child?
Yes, just more hoops to navigate but doable!
It’s definitely a good idea to have a diverse range of dolls.
when you record videos , do you tell Miss A to stay in the room or she just chooses to stay ? bc I noticed she has not been in the vlogs as much
I record strategically, I never tell her to not be in it. A lot of times she’s just lounging and on her phone or watching tv or something.
What is John’s channel??
Cincinnati picker!
First ❣️
👋🏼
During sales the lotion is usually $5-$6.
I miss Miss A
❤
