    Shot Bro. I’m from NZ too. Currently riding around Pakistan. Thanks for the tips. I don’t bother going for the motion blur with NDs because I don’t want the incredible sights I’m seeing blurred at all. But I appreciate it’s for that cinematic look, and not vlogging like I do. Great video.

    I was having trouble with pixelation on the pavement moving in front of me. Like a band of extreme graininess and halo of pixelation around the bars and clocks. Light poles looked like PS2 Gran Turismo graphics. Was trying, in my ignorance, all kind of setting changes and probably just making it worse. I used yours today and my footage looks excellent now! I finally have a baseline to experiment with and if I mess it up again I’ll just revert back to this. Just wanted to say thanks because I was getting frustrated.

    Hi.. the problem is, digital stabilization works best with fast shutter speed like 1/200 or at least 1/100... with smooth road you can get away with slow shutter (or ND filters) but as soon as you got bumps or rough streets the footage will be unusable... i have full set of NDs that i finally never use on the scenario where i need digital stabilization, which is like almost every time.

    • @captain_midlife
      @captain_midlife  2 роки тому +1

      I use 1/50 or 1/60th constantly and our roads are rough. Do you think my footage is unusable?

    • @PapiCoco
      @PapiCoco Рік тому +2

      @@captain_midlife oh really.. my footages looks terrible, i even set it on manual... but once i raised it on 1/100 its getting smooth and best on 1/200 up. Are you sure your street are rough..? it was all seems like smooth asphalt... or maybe your bike suspension helped a lot...? I even think to buy one of those gimbal for 25fps rate.

    • @captain_midlife

    Hi and thanks for sharing. I am starting to set up for a motvlog. The only problem I have is wind noise. I am using a lav mic connected to GoPro media mod and have the mic tucked and hidden in the helmet with foam filter and fluffy cover. Anything above 60kph becomes distorted with wind noise and clips out.
    Any tips on that issue?
    Thanks again

    I can see your channel going a long way :) keep it up and I love your content... Do you color grade your footage? I use the exact same setup but videos come out a bit too vibrant if I leave it in gopro mode and if I record raw its too washed out.

    • @JoshuaCarpenter316
      @JoshuaCarpenter316 Рік тому

      If you don’t like go pro color, use raw and color grading isn’t too hard. Seems washed out at first but you can get a lot more natural look by just tuning in the contrast, vibrance, shadows and saturation, just slide bars unless you want more or less of a certain color, unless you’re trying to highlight a certain area that will work with most raw, d-cinelike, 10-bit, d-log, etc. most look rather flat until graded a bit.

    • @captain_midlife

      Raw? In a GoPro?

    • @JoshuaCarpenter316
      @JoshuaCarpenter316 Рік тому

    Just a question about the mic array on the media mod. Do you have them disabled and only get sound from the cable mic in your helmet?

    How do you deal with changing weather/lighting conditions with the ND filter? On my recent trip I had days where it was sunny in the morning, cloudy and raining in the afternoon and then back to sunny again. I forgot to change my ND filter so some of the footage ended up being either too dark or too light. Would be awesome if there was a variable nd for the GoPro.
