From a distance, the Cadillac looks good, and I like the black exterior and white leather interior. However, the interior is in rough shape, and the exterior could use some work. However, with some work into the car, I'm sure it will look better.
Even though you may not have the money or time, changing the door panels and front seats, getting a pair of taillights, and patch up the exterior scratches, will make this Caddy look slick.
On the bumper vertical fins, are no lights, only a plastic/ vinyl cover the Sun has deteriorated and rotted away.
There hasn’t been a video that I haven’t enjoyed watching from your channel Randy. This one in particular was very entertaining and enjoyable, especially with Monkey Wrench Mike. That old boat hasn’t been on the road for who knows how long, it just needs some TLC, something that it hasn’t experienced in a long time. This car is worth fighting for and I’m glad to see you aren’t throwing in the towel on it, this car really deserves a second chance.

Randy, I LOVE the old Cadillac's I used to own a 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, and loved it! it was underpowered, but it was such a cushy and relaxing car to drive. a part of me wishes I had never sold that car.

My best friend’s mother had a Light Blue ‘76 El Dorado. That battle tank was one of the smoothest, quietest car I have ever been in! I remember she was having something checked and the mechanic told her to turn the car on and she said it was on and he didn’t believe her until she reved the engine!!
Restore it and sent it to Mecum!
I can't stop thinking that the crew of the Ship DALI that hit the bridge is so similar to that Caddy.

There is a lot of things wrong with this Caddy, but they are all little things. I don't think I would want to try driving it an hour and a half home the way it sits though. I would see if I could leave it at Mike's for the moment and get a carb kit, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and the right valve stem for the tire, check the coolant, and bring a small tool kit and an electric click clack fuel pump with some wire and a toggle switch just in case. That car has a hydro boost power brakes on it and they are a great system when they are working right. They actually used that same system on some Fords Mercurys and Lincolns as well as some heavy-duty commercial trucks instead of air brakes. Overall I think you did pretty good on this car for the price.
That thing is the danger of buying old Caddies that haven't been taken care of. Mechanical problems, interior problems, etc. It ends up being real time-consuming and expensive.

Nice car I had one back in the day you think it WILL GET 9 MPG WRONG TRY 3 TO 5 MPG. used it tow my boat and with the AC ON it got 2 MPG but I liked it. Be careful of the rear window the top loves to break them $$$$$ and that trany ig a GM TURBO 400. To improve performance advance the timing change camshaft and add dual exhaust it should add about 60 HP???

A dear friend of mine, now long passed, treated himself and his wife with a '76 Eldorado after serving our country, state, county and hometown for over forty years. His was baby blue, w/white leather interior, white convertible top, and the 500cid engine. That Caddy became such a "thing" with his extended family that he left it, in his will, to his Granddaughter along with a Mustang (same color, with a white convertible top and 5.0L engine). To the best of my knowledge, she still owns and drives both cars. By the way Ford could not stand it that GM had produced the 500cid and "one upped" with a 550cid engine that got even worse MPG if that is really possible.
My guess is that you have multiple bad grounds on this rig. And if the top is run off of hydraulic line sand fluid, then I think you have a leak in tje system somewhere.

You guys must be new to the Cadillac Eldorado, the missing lights on the rear bumper are just night reflectors not brake lights
they are great cars but a very different animal, they were the flagship of the Cadillac "personal luxury coupes" but the thing about them is, nothing you will find on that car is like a normal Cadillac, parts for them are more difficult to find and exclusive to Eldorados they are far more expensive than regular Cadillac parts it takes serious money to work on or restore an Eldorado
fully restored that car is easily worth $50,000.00 to $80,000.00 so if you got one of the last Cadillac convertibles ever made for $4,300.00 in any sort of running condition, you have NOTHING to complain about at all
and by the way, Boss Hoggs car in the Dukes of Hazard was NOT an Eldorado it was a 1970 Cadillac DeVille convertible, the last rear wheel drive Cadillac convertible ever made,
Burt Reynolds used an Eldorado convertible in his portrayal of Boss Hogg in the movie adaptation but never in the TV series

The auto auction houses seem to be the masters of the junk fee. It was over 20% add-on in sucker fees for the caddy. 🤢 I tried to peruse cars on Copart and found that they wanted 99 bucks for the privilege of being a "member" !!

I owned a burgundy 1976 convertible Cadillac El Dorado I purchased from French consulate with a CD sticker on the bumper. Worst mpg of any car. Sold it for $2500 in 1985.

I'm a sucker for a boat. My dad had a 66 Lincoln Continental convertible with suicide doors. He was a machine salesman and machine shop owner. I remember taking my drivers exam in a 73 Lincoln Continental, it's the one I learned to drive in. We took it into empty parking lots and thats where I learned how to park it. He said if I could park it, back it into a spot, I was ready to take my exam. I passed my exam the first time. I own a 2016 Lincoln MKZ, nice car, but nothing like driving the old Lincolns. Brought back some memories on this one Randy!! Thanks!
