      Let's see, EU authorities have to get to know about it first, a device is not automatically banned.
      Perhaps a declaration like in California is enough. The RoHS guidelines were made stricter again this year.

    Very cool little demo. Those drums at the end were awesome.

    My 2 Cents: Moog Spectravox is a vocoder and filterbank that delivers vintage sound and flexible modulation routings. It can be used as a synth on its own, where it shines especially in the physical modeling of percussion instruments. The filter bank's spectral shift, in combination with the LFO, is great for creating phaser effects or alien voices.
    As a vocoder, I have to say that I find other alternatives to be more convincing, though. The analogfx - vxc-2220 vocoder, for example, offers a patchable patchbay for the vocoder bands, too, but provides a clearer signal when it comes to vocal processing. Also, I have missed the option to mix the unprocessed signal with the processed one. This is something that other alternatives offer and can drastically help to get a clearer audio signal.
    Although it improves a bit when feeding an external carrier signal, it is still far from the clear robot voices you might expect from a vocoder. Also, as a vintage vocoder, I find other alternatives such as the already mentioned VXC-2220 or Behringer's VC340 more convincing. The Spectravox still plays well in the filter bank game with its spectral shift, but for me, the use case would be too niche. But as always: It's just a matter of taste - check it out for yourself.

    Thanks for the demo! The marimbas and percussion are okay, but as a vocoder, it doesn't convince me. I'm going to skip this one, I think.

      Agreed. There are better (hardware) vocoders out there and also for spectral morphing or filter bank tasks, there are more convincing alternatives in Eurorack-land

    Really like it. Might miss the sliders from the early version but I see why they did that.

    the envelope when vocoding using an external carrier sounds so choked and honky on all the demos i've seen whether it's vocoding voice or drums. very disappointing from what i can make out compared to something like a roland svc 350

    WHERE ---- IS ----- IT ---- MADE????? Made in USA????? or.......?

    • @limbicbits
      @limbicbits  29 днів тому

      All parts like potentiometers, switches, transistors etc
      most likely in china, the power supply possibly in Taiwan or Vietnam. Included cables maybe in Vietnam, packaging usually comes from china …
      Or do you refer to the final step in the chain which is putting all the things together? I guess this was done in the United States

      @@limbicbits You understand my question right. Is this a real Moog product, like every other one in all of history, or is this the first 'overseas' product.

      I doubt that it doesn't comply with RoHS rules, as these are already being sold in the EU.

      @@limbicbits That's definitely possible, but still confusing. Why the RoHS standard cannot be met is beyond me. Are these PCBs from the pre-Inmusic era?
