Movin' On - Transport Tycoon Deluxe tune - with live instruments!

- MOVIN' ON - A tune from the classic 1994 game Transport Tycoon Deluxe, written by the wonderful John Broomhall, and performed by me on Sax, Drums, Bass, Keys, Piano and EWI.
For some reason I sat on this one for a while. I think it was about a year and a half ago that I recorded and filmed this little tune from my favorite teenhood computer game, Transport Tycoon. Countless hours I've lost to that game, all of them accompanied by the lovely OPL soundtrack by John Broomhall playing from my creative soundblaster, and this tune stood out to me especially. It's just so groovy.
But - for some stupid reason - I didn't publish it. It was something having to do with usual petty perfectionism crap, I wasn't happy with my awkward piano and bass tracks, and wanted to re-record them, and then I lost the drive with the project file somewhere and only had the temporary mix I made for the video editing, so I just chucked it aside. My brother Shimon reminded me of it's existence last week, so I found it and listened to it, and it sounded good enough for me as is, so I finished the video edit for it sooo... here it is :)
Big thanks to my brothers Vania and Shimon for helping with the filming, recording and editing of this ditty.
Amazing performance and incredible attention to details, guys. This music should (and will) live forever.
TTD is not a game, but a lifestyle. The one where you feel insanely happy just watching the trees grow, the seawater glittering in the sun, and steam engines steadily puffing all the troubles away. The one where you care more about the lonely forester living in a mountain hut with a piece of asphalt next to it that has got in your way than your everyday chores. The one where you remember and keep thinking about all the 99 railway routes but tend to forget the contents of a 5-item shopping list. The one where there is neither real competition nor a need for one. The one where funky jazz has drastically reshaped your inner self. The one where you suddenly find out that it's 7PM and you didn't even have breakfast.
And even now, 25 years later, we all are still residents of this wonderland.
Wow, I'm really happy to see someone cover TTD songs.
And with this quality...
I wish there was a lossless live version somewhere!!
deluxe? pssh play the original
This game is one of the reasons why I love jazz music today. Amazing cover! Hope to see more songs!
One of the best game soutracks ever! At least for me 😊
Amazing stuff! Please do more TTD tunes!
Another one is coming soon
@@jayzhead sooooooooooooon
@@jayzhead Is it soon yet?!
@@m1geo Yeah it's been a while :) I did Cruise Control but ended up using it as a bonus track for kickstart supporters of my album and never did get around to making a video of it. If you want just the track I can provide a link :)
@@jayzhead please? Pinned comment?
Dude TT soundtrack is awesome. Been listening since 94. Great execution as well.
This is such a fantastic cover. I used to play TTD for hours every day before I started playing World of Warcraft. OpenTTD isn't quite the same, even if it has a lot more quality of life improvements over TTD.
Brings a lot of beatifull memories playing TT. I have always loved the music, but now (when i am 40 ) I can recognize how great and timeless the songs really are. Perfect reproduction, thank you
WHAT! Best soundtrack of all time. Glad I'm not the only one who listens to it. Great game too. Do cruise control next!
I was actually considering Cruise Control as well, but I'm pretty sure I can't pull off the bass part for that. Maybe I'll do that with a couple of friends.
@@jayzhead It's been well over a year now, where is it :D :D
@@jetaimemina "Maybe" being the operative word there... :) Been busy with other projects, I'll get to it :p
@@jayzhead Nahhh the "Maybe" was about you doing it with a couple buds, the song is non-negotiable ;)
i actually prefer OpenTTD's soundtrack, but this is the second best soundtrack.
I can't get enough of this. This is exactly what I remember the music sounding like (even as I know it didn't ;P)
Amazing! It's an exact copy of the game music, but it sounds even better. Great job!
What a multitalent, the one and only John Broomhall just shared this with me and I love it! Great job man!
Wow! Really? I had no idea he was even aware of this... John is a legend in my book, the soundtrack for this game was always one of my all-time favorite pieces of midi music ever. So much funk out of an OPL3 soundtrack, unbelievable, so many compelling groovy tunes. I learned tons from him about composing and arranging ✌
Took me like 1 min to find out all these guys are the same
/tired
Btw it's cool, keep going
what happened @2:15 the piano guy though
Holy shit, take my upvote. Please release a TTD live album.
This is one of my favourite ever game soundtracks, and you did such a great job with this cover. All the songs in the game are so good. Great work!
Ahhh yes, sweet memories of exploding enemy buses and burning trains...
This. Is. AWESOME
I am impressed. Can I ask for another OST in the transport Tycoon?
do the whole soundtrack, release it as an album. I'd buy it.
this is really awesome, well done!
I love this one!
Awesome!! Please do more :)
This video is incredible, the come back in after the break down... made me forget about my chronic pains and my crippling loneliness;
Very nice
Today I Learned - There is such a thing as an electric oboe.
This work should get way more exposure than it got.
Rock on! err... Jazz on!
Nailed it!
TTDL и цивилизация, набор тушенки, аптечка и солнечная батарея для зарядки ноутбука- и можно выезжать на необитаемый остров.
If you are planning on covering further tracks, please consider "Stoke it"
Change my mind. High speed electric trains are a perfectly viable transport option for transporting grain and cattle...
next could be: Road Hog, Can't get there from here, stoke it, goss groove, broomers oil rag...
A game music with zero haters ^_^
John Broomhall is a legend
i saw this in my UA-cam recommended and liked immediately and was not disappointed
excellent,
i'd add finger snapping just for the hell of it but hey great to see the game receiving love 24 years after release (nondeluxe was 94 i think right?).
UA-cam sent me here because I've been looking at vintage synthesizers, and of course John Broomhall is a legend in this arena. It's videos like this, that make UA-cam worthwhile. A diamond in the rough for sure. Well done!
Awsome. If there'd been a superLIKE, I would press on it!
So cool! Adlib sound re-imagined.. just a little less echo on the sax ;)
Please Do Cruise control
Its been 4 years since I commented that
Keep them coming! :)
VERY NICE. It's a shame this have so little views.
Keep it up, and why don't you cover other songs also?
Other songs from ttd? Or other songs in general? 😁
You also should try to play that groovy "Snarl up" from TT OST, man!
Why are there not more TRT covers? This is great!
very good! more cover please!!
Thanks for this great live perfomance
Thank you 👍
Hahha.. one man band.. AWESOME!
So good! Justice done! TT had the best soundtrack ever.
Grandes recuerdos de un pedazo de juego.
Que de horas le eché
EWI instead of hollow body electric quitar/stratocaster? Well... it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, just didn't expect that.
Great rendition, though the sax could be less dry. Needs more sense of space. :)
Wow that sounds dry to you? There is like a half-second tape delay on it 😜 I usually make my sound much drier than that these days. There's something fun about a dry sound, it's my kind of thing. Thanks for the comment 👍
Very Nice! His Video need more Clicks! I love Transport Tycoon ♥My first Playtime his Game where me 3 Years old :D Sry for my bad english i am German Dude^^
Made me forgot what I was doing on the internet. This is great, more please!?!!
That's magnificent!
thank you a lot for this video-clip!
That's great, really.
sounds really cool 👍
you only did the one?
I'm crushed!
the TTD soundtrack is so good and none have ever made as lasting impact for me!
(i have always preferred the "adlib" version but i love every version i have heard)
Hi, thanks for the kind words. I also did Cruise Control, but only released it as audio because I made no video for it as of yet. You can listen to it here if you wish drive.google.com/file/d/1Ge65QNQ2lpYnY3ax4swbSbQ9RNEtbxpd/view?usp=sharing 🌟🌟 Also there is a complete big band arrangement for the whole soundtrack done by John Broomhall himself, he did it for the iOS version of TTD if I'm not mistaken. It's available here on youtube, just search for it. It's great 👌
@@jayzhead that's a really good cover of Cruise Control! your group hits the mix of classic feel with live instruments for me!
love
Great stuff.
The most underrated video on UA-cam. So awesome!!! You deserve much more views. Unfortunately we live on the pop "bullshit robot music" era.
Can there be more please?
Pretty darn good!
De esto se trata la música
