Thank you for this. 99.94. Epic! It will never be beaten. A Japanese sports magazine compared the best stats & averages across all major sports. Bradman won hands down. A great documentary & warmly appreciated. From a grateful Pom.
Absolutely great documentary! I heard this in one other documentary that “For those of us who didn’t see Bradman play, we’re lucky to have watched Tendulkar play.” I think that sums it up for our generation. We’re extremely lucky to have witnessed someone closest to Sir Don. Would have been a privilege to have watched Sir Don play! 😊
Future generations need to be made aware of legendary cricketers, appreciate their style, how they trained, and how they dedicated themselves. Don Bradman was a cricket hero, as was Len Hutton, who was mentioned as well. It was a treat to watch the video.
When the don toured england in 1930 1934 1938 and finally 1948 he missed the driest summer's and the best batting wickets, all the more remarkable his record here in the old country.
Test Matches batting record of Don Bradman in 10 Cricket Grounds he played during his entire carrier From 1928 to 1948 1:-Adelaide Oval:-7 Matches,3 Centuries,3 half Centuries,970 Runs at avg of 107.78 2:-Brisbane Cricket Ground The Gabba:-5 Matches,3 Centuries,1 Half Century,736 Runs at avg of 105.14 3:-Brisbane Exhibition Showgrounds:-2 Matches,1 Century,223 Runs at avg of 80.67 4:-Melbourne Cricket Ground:-11 Matches,9 Centuries,3 Half Centuries,1671 Runs at avg of 128.54 5:-Sydney Cricket Ground:-8 Matches,2 Centuries,3 Half Centuries,703 Runs at avg of 58.58 6:-Headingley Leeds:-4 Matches,4 Centuries,963 Runs at avg of 192.60 7:-The Kennington Oval London:-4 Matches,2 Centuries,1 Half Century,553 Runs at avg of 69 47 8:-Lord's Cricket Ground London:-4 Matches,2 Centuries,1 Half Century,551 Runs at avg of 78.71 9:-Old Trafford Cricket Ground Manchester:-3 Matches,81 Runs at avg of 27.00 10:-Trent Bridge Cricket Ground Nottinghamshire:-4 Matches,3 Centuries,1 Half Century,526 Runs at avg of 75.14. . Bradman Against Opponents in Test Cricket 1:-Vs England 5028 Runs at avg of 89.79 (19 Centuries and 12 Half Centuries) 2:-Vs India 715 Runs at avg of 178.75 (4 Centuries and 1 Half Century) 3:-Vs South Africa 806 Runs at avg of 201.50(4 Centuries) 4:-Vs Westindies 447 Runs at avg of 74.50(2 Centuries) Bradman didn't Played against Newzealand
This thing about Bradman having fallen short by 4 runs to have a career batting average of 100 runs per completed innings overlooks the fact that almost throughout his career he kept averaging well over 100. His average stood at 105 before his last Test series against England and it stood at 101 before his final innings which is why he needed only 4 runs to finish with a fallen average of 100 which, alas, was never to be and which has led to this misperception about he having failed to reach that pinnacle of glory in the final analysis. A baseless understanding of the great man's lifetime batting achievement, a testament to popular unreasearched shallow estimate of things.
Bradman was once asked if he ever seen any batsmen who were as good as he or better. DGB: Yes. Several. Other: Then why haven't they averaged as high you. DGB: (thinks hard) They just kept getting out. Another time, when DGB was about 70, he went into the ets and faced two medium pacers for half an hour without once being beaten. Jeff Thompson watched this from the pavillion, then walked into the committee room where a Test team selection meeting was in progress, and asked, "Why isn't that bastard playing for us?"
He is, but in terms of what that was about at the time I side with Chappell. They needed to be progressive in regards to player remuneration and they weren't. Bradman had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the current era as it was. I think Chappell is an odd type holding a grudge over something like that for as long as he has despite coming out on top though. Much worse things in life can happen e.g. people being the victim of violent crime, terminal illnesses etc - to me it's always indicative of how professional sports people don't live in the real world.
I respect old legends..but since he was Australian...These Aussies would credit him..my take is..If he did face the West Indian quicks of the 60..79..8os I think he would not have averaged..If u compare the Aussie and Windies of the 60 and 70s his average will be 1/2 of it...or less..Even Bradman will acknowledge that he did not real hostile quicks or Spinners of great quality .so as much I may add that Bradman was a quality batsmen that he was made out to be...I think many ..many cricketers from Australia or India or Pakistan or West Indies were much better technically batsmen...So my observation on Bradman is reserved as when cricket was in its infant stages...
Nah mate, Sir Bradman. If I was the captain of a team and had the choice of the greatest all rounder or a batsman who is going to score a century on average in each innings in tests although it's a tough decision I'd have to go with the batsman - Bradman was almost like have a 12th player/batsman. Sobers is awesome though. I remember watching him on TV in the Australia vs The Rest of the World early 70's. What a man.
Wow, so that means the likes of Jack Hobbs would have an average of 7 today when you apply your reduction. Seems feasible lol. The fact of the matter is he still sits way out in front of everyone, including your heroes Kholi and Tendulkar. No one is ever going to catch him. That test average will be there for the rest of your life to taunt you and others like you. When you, me and everyone else around now is dead and long forgotten, Bradman will still be there on top. With no one ever getting close. All the subjective arguments under the sun won't change that.
Really batting at 5 making 70s always left stranded from si calked better batsmens making 5 0r 6 i was maybe 6th or 7th best batsmen at club but won batting ave.4 years straight Aturf why is that ? Number or better batsmen ??@@andrewmaroc113

Yes, statistically the best sportsman of all time. Do you have a link to the article?

Not relevant.
Once upon a time there was a great legend.
That toss for the 5th test. Bradman didn't even need to say that they'd bat. It was a given.
McCabe may have batted unbelievably on that day ,bradman ,a consistency was what made him great.
A truely extraordinary man
500 views for a great documentary...pity
Marvel of cricket. Immortal legend ever born.
All geniuses are flawed and his privacy was his. Genius nonetheless

God I miss 2004
Sir Donald Bradman was simply the greatest batsman to ever walk on a cricket field.
Sachin Tendulkar
Great player and person.
Corrupt
It should be noted that Bradman averaged 50 + in The bodyline sieries.
4 matches, 396 runs, 1 century, 3 halfs, 396 runs at 56.57
As far as I remember.
On sports mount Rushmore.
Who is the greater cricker- Bradman or Sobers? Nobody else even comes close😅😊😊
Ian Chappell is a bitter old man. Shame on him. Bradman is the greatest we've had and ever had
This comment is spot on. Ian Botham summed him up.
He is, but in terms of what that was about at the time I side with Chappell. They needed to be progressive in regards to player remuneration and they weren't. Same here 50 55 ave if that
Gary sobers was a better player and a hero to the West Indies community
You don't understand cricket. It's Bradman and then daylight. And I am a huge fan of Sir Garfield.
Second behind the Don - Gary definitely the best over last 60 years. Don was a freak - unmatched.
You've forgotten Herbert Sutcliffe, George Headley (known as the Black Bradman) and Graeme Pollock. All three averaged over 60 but less than 61!
Nah mate, Sir Bradman.
