It feels like it’s been forever & I’m so happy to be back! Figured I’d post something different while we’re all waiting on this bathroom to get done! Thanks for being patient with me as I keep on trucking in this house of mine. Missed you all so much! 💓
We - especially my daughters - missed you / your videos. Nicely done with the "fireplace thingy" (yes - exact technical term my younger one used 😅). Your house projects are coming along quite nicely.
AWould you mind telling me how big that Tv was. and the fireplace? I am formulating my own fireplace plan and I was thinking of a 75inch TV over a 70 inch fireplace. which should be close to the same actual width. Just trying to visualize it. Most of these builds I see do this with a 60 inch fireplac, and 65 inch tv. Yours looks bigger.
If it makes you feel any better, nothing in a new house is square, straight, or level either 🤣 I love your new fireplace wall 😍😍 and your new floors! 🙌
But older homes are even worse. Our original house was built in 1978 -- we moved in a couple of years later and mostly things were pretty level and square. We just moved into a house built in 1951 (we've downsized) and it's amazing how different it is from our old house. We had a skilled guy put together the shelves we had in our original house, which looked fine there, and he made them level which means they look off kilter in this house! I'm trying to figure out how to handle that because I'm obsessive enough to notice it every time I look at them!
That is "Fire"! Literally. Wow, great job! I love at the end, how your accent wall from the other side of the room is in the reflection of the glass from the fireplace. Inspiring video.
Hi Ya' Sam. You're correct. It does seem like it's been forever since we've seen you. I have certainly missed getting to share your projects. I like this fireplace/tv wall thingy. I'm with Chris. The bigger the tv, the better. I think that you and Chris are going to spend many happy evenings in front of this tv wall. Glad you are back and thanks for sharing this video with us.
I LOVE the creativity and innovation in the TOTAL creation of your entertainment center with an amazing fireplace...WOW! Thank you for sharing HOW 2 step by step. LUV U...U ROCK!
Your video was in my home feed. I love the fireplace TV build. When we moved into our new home 23 years ago, we chose not to pay the money for the fireplace tv unit. Now, I really want to build something like you have built. It looks amazing! I have wanted an electric wide fireplace for a long time. I might hire someone to build it as my husband and I aren't woodworkers at all. Love what you created. Linda
Fixing to start building mine this weekend. Going to be 8ft wide and have a hearth with hinged top for storage. Have a 60" fireplace insert and 75" tv to mount over top. I cant wait to surprise my wife with it. Think im going to cover it with nickel gap boards for a old school look. Thanks for the video and tips.
You are driven and keep moving forward. Talented and very resourceful. Good job on the project. Your other strength is that you are so relatable and possess a wonderful disposition. I hope your channel flourishes as you flourish. GBY.
Hi Sam, welcome back, missed you. What a kick ass fireplace, I love it. The TV blends in well, when it's not on at least. I think you did an awesome job, great choices...take care...cheers
Electric fire places are awesome. Great for ambiance in the summer time without heat. Or with 240V can heat up nicely! We had the option to do whatever we wanted and still went electric. Love it.
Turned out incredibly cool! Such an inspiration. I have the same project on the to do list, except i have windows either side to center fireplace. I also let Hubby get new ginormous tv, which now overhangs the window trim a bit🤔 gonna have to get creative to design a shape to accommodate the elephant in the room. Possibly a whole wall of built ins? Your framing method will definitely come in handy working with old unlevel walls and floors. Thanks for your excellent content 😻
Chris definitely made the right call on the TV size. I think a smaller screen would have looked "lost" against that bold, beautiful black background. Really great video and amazing work. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wow this is gorgeous! We got our first home last year and I've been thinking of adding something like this to our primary Bedroom for a heat source. We have central air, but the house is heated with propane 💰💸💰🥲. Heating the room with something like this would be more efficient for us most of the time and would help us save on some cash 😂. Glad to see you posting! 😀
I don’t know if that’s true, electric heat tends to be the most expensive, but it is relative to fuel and electricity costs, of course. AND, if there is a fun reason to be using that electric heat it can offset some of the pain if there is not a cost savings to be realized.
@@jeremyspecce agreed, it's extremely region specific when it comes to electricity cost, as well as the size of the space you're heating, and other variables like insulation, home materials etc... I was speaking specifically to my situation, and numerically, it is less expensive for my use case.
Looks absolutely great, Sam. The TV is just the right size for that spot. Just curious though, does the fireplace actually heat or is it only aesthetic? Keep up the great work. Bill
The fireplace looks great, and that TV is huge (what is it with men & big screens?). Also the floors look amazing. Hope you can get back to the bathroom project soon. There's nothing more frustrating than wanting to do a project and having to wait for parts, ugh.
This looks absolutely beautiful, I think the TV is a perfect size . If it was narrower than the fireplace may have looked odd. The electric has the advantage of having a fire without the heat too. If someone wants a real big screen you could put a crown on top. Then stand the crown off about 3 inches and put a projector screen hidden behind the crown, that rolls down in front of a smaller tv for a real theater experience and a small TV for everyday use. I have a 120 screen in my living room trust me it's amazing for movies.
I subscribed with just watching the floors lol I’m buying a older home and been looking at ways to update! Starting point is refinishing my hardwood floors 😊! Beautiful floors you have
@@diyhuntress You're most welcome😁 I've been trying to get my mama to agree to let me do something like this for her new home. This is exactly what I needed to give her a visual!!
Fireplace is great! We’re looking into a gas fireplace but not only are they very expensive, they also are not as good environmentally as electric ones. (Though they’re far better then wood-burning fireplaces or even high efficiency wood-burning stoves.) Unfortunately, I was turned off by the electric fireplace inserts I saw but my mind may change because yours is beautiful! I’m totally with you on the TV. Too big! But compromise is at the heart of good relationships so you’re doing the right thing. And your fireplace still looks fantastic with the black boards diminishing the impact of the giant TV.
Please please…where can I buy that exact electric fireplace? That’s by far the best looking flame on an electric fireplace I’ve seen this far!!! GORGEOUS JOB!!!
Beautiful job...love the floor...fireplaces just add so much to a room and you framed yours out nicely...(although I pictured you installing a hinged door on the side with storage and access to the outlets). Next project...surround sound for the tv? 🤔
This was helpful for sure. I’m about to tackle one myself. I want to do some accessible side compartments and a mantle above the fire place for mine. I plan to put my tv higher so when I hang stockings the stocking holders won’t block the tv. I need to make sure the remotes for my electronics can access them so I’m thinking of an epoxy river cabinet front above the tv.. idk yet exactly. Thank you for this though, great job.
Fantastic job. It looks great! I think the tv size is just right for that space. It’s gonna be great on movie night. Is it mounted on a support that can move the tv in and out to access the storage box behind? Can you show how in a short clip?
