The problem is that the conversation is not even honest. They lead with merit, has she played well enough to even be considered and the answer is yes. She op 15 is scoring top 5 in assists and 3 points shots made. But listening to some of these shows you would not know this. We all know in any sport the final spots of roster construction are subjective. NFL 53 or an all-star team etc. Thats what has me ticked off. They make it sound like there's not even a case to be made and there is. She has better than or equal stats of at least 4 players. I also feel they should have invested in the younger players like Reese, brink, Catilin and a few others that u can make a case for that would better represent and grow the league. These are not very smart people running this operation.
To suggest that they have the 12 best players on this team is a lie. They could have better served their cause and still win gold iwth a youth movement. How selfish is taursi and now it looks like griner is a man and nobody is talking about this.

The WNBA players have been complaining for years, pretty much since the league began about not getting enough attention. Now they're upset about one talented player bringing in fans and possibly more revenue. For me as a black man, it's not about race, some of the black players seem to think she shouldn't be as good. There are some white players with just as much hate, although the hard fouls so far have mostly come from black players.
You can bring water from the moon and some women will say it's not cold enough.
So, fans watching to see if Caitlin plays will undermine the "integrity of the game" in the Olympics but it doesn't undermine the "integrity of the game" in the WNBA? Nobody will watch WNBA in the Olympics thanks to the all the televised negative talk toward Miss.Clark.. These debate shows are getting ridiculous..
A lot to unpack in this video...
(1) If stats are your metric for Olympic qualification, then Caitlin Clark is not even one of the top 15 players in the league, so be thankful that WNBA and NCAA stats don't mean squat when it comes to Olympic basketball selection because...
(2) The basketball program uses a 3-year process of tryouts, practices, FIBA World Cup Tournaments and pre-Olympic qualification games to select the 12 players for the team. Caitlin Clark has not went to any of them, so she wasn't "snubbed", she wasn't even in consideration. Only the media and CC fans thought she was snubbed.
(3) Because the of the 3-year process the coaches are able to strategize several starting five rotations and substitutions for specific teams and in-game adjustments. Removing one player knowledgeable of those schemes for one who is oblivious to them will create confusion and self-inflicted mistakes. The USA team was a Breanna Stewart missed 3-pointer away from losing to Belgium, so they likely found a way to not let that happen again. This is not the time to experiment for marketing reasons.
(4) Who are you gonna take off this roster? If you take any guard off Arike Ogunbowale will replace them, not Caitlin Clark, because she has the most experience playing overseas and participated in the Olympics team process. Diana Taurasi is 41-years old, but earned her way thru her performance durong the process and with her experience. When healthy Chelsea Gray is the best point guard in the world, full stop (Aces don't need her on the floor at the moment so she can rest up for the Olympics and then return play in the WNBA regular season a little more rested than the other PGs in the league).
(5) Speaking of rest, you do know Caitlin Clark has been playing basketball for little over 8 straight months - 10 months if you count practices during her senior season. And it is true overseas competition, especially guards, play a lot more physical full court than in college play; what CC got so far the WNBA season was just the hors d'oeuvres, international play is the main dish. You really want to play her in the Olympics with the risk of burnout or injury during Olympic play or WNBA play? If everyone tuning in to "see Caitlin Clark" play, the best strategy would be to allow her to have those 3-4 weeks off to R&R so she is fresh and ready to go in the second half of the season, right? Isn't that best for business? Which version of Caitlin Clark you want at the Olympics? NCAA Caitlin or WNBA Caitlin? 'Cause right now, WNBA Caitlin ain't looking too good. If you're going to promote a new car to the world, do you want to promote it with the brakes squeaking and engine stalling or would you want to get those issues fixed so you can promote it at a later date when everyone is patient enough to wait for it. Caitlin Clark making her 2028 Olympic debut on American soil after a successful 4-year run in the WNBA? More box office than 2024 Paris.
(6) The Brittany Griner IG video was years ago. Practically everyone who follows her seen it. Glad you were able to catch up. It's not the hot topic you think it is. Women come in all shapes and sizes. Don't start ish you have little to no understanding of.
(7) Women's Olympic basketball will have eyes and viewers on it as always. May not be as many as track & field and gymnastics, but it will have eyeballs. There was a reason Dawn Staley held the SC/Notre Dame season opener in Paris: to promote women's basketball in te place of the 2024 Olympics. Basketball fans in France saw Hanna Hidalgo and Milaysia Fulwiley, freshmen, putting on a show; they're gonna be anticipating what USA will bring with their vets in international competition. Dawn Staley plays chess while casuals play checkers.

Other than the last Olympics which I'm sure Covid played a part, they won the VAST majority of their games by 20+ points.
