The powers that be showed their brilliance by tying their new cash cow to a post while they run off with a team that is not as much fun to watch. Arike Ogunbowale should be on that team, the best isolation player hands down. CC leads the league in assists. Each assist generates 2 or 3 points. Reese was not even invited and she is the best rebounder in the WNBA. But it is more than talent. The new exciting players are generating buzz and interest. Who do we want to see? The FUN players to watch. Let's be honest, the olympic games are there to generate money (and for countries to puff out their chests and claim to be superior). But the bottom line is that sack of gold. And they spilled the whole sack out and left one coin in the bag. Way to go Team USA! ;-)

Agreed - they would be paying to play in the League but because the NBA bails them out every season, they don't get the adrenaline-drive of being financially struggling to push them to make actual changes in their league. And all these women crying about the level of talent and skill in the league - NO, just no. If you were that good, if your product was ENJOYABLE you would have been selling out arenas long before this year, but you didn't. So now you have a league of bitter b*tches trying to kill their golden gooses (or goose, cause let's be honest there's really only one) and then justifying it by saying "This how we ball in the W" - news flash: NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR PRISON BALL LEAGUE! Clean it up so people want to spend money to come to your games and spend money on merch, watch you on TV, etc. or STFU about "Not getting the respect er deserve" - you are getting it, it's just that you deserve none so you get none.

The WNBA had a revenue of $200 million dollars last year, up from $60 million the year before. What you are thinking of is PROFIT. NBA player's don't earn 50% of the leagues PROFIT, they earn 50% of the league's REVENUE. Similarly, WNBA players earn 10% of the league's REVENUE, not 10% of the league's PROFIT. If you are saying that the product the league and the owner's are putting out is inferior to the NBA, why should their share be 40% larger than their NBA counterparts? The WNBA is a growth property and their media rights deals are undervalued. Once they expire in 2025 analysts predict a deal worth around $125-$150 million a year.

The people who have invested in this league, like the recent group of angel investors(which includes Baron Davis, Pau Gasol, Udonis Haslem, and Condaleezza Rice,) who invested $75 million, are not expecting immediate returns. Rather, they have made a long term investment with expectations that their stake in the league will grow; as long as there is growth, the league will be viable and attractive to investors.

I think 2 things can be true at the same time. It can be entertaining to see low level, yet competitive basketball being played. I can differentiate a game of women blowing layups and shooting air balls to a higher level I see in the NBA, and still enjoy the game. Until the WNBA gets to the point they are surviving on their own, and not relying on the NBA to keep them in business, they should expect the criticism and be appreciative. Many of these women in the WNBA went to college for 4 years, and don’t seem to have the slightest understanding of how business works. The WNBA should be out of business right now, the only reason Lexi is on that show is because men in the NBA has given her that platform…or she would be playing overseas and nobody would know who Lexi Brown was.

Thats why she garnered so much attention) so until they admit and accept that as reality and not an attack, its always going to be a circular conversation.
