  • HOW TO ADJUST HANDBRAKE PARKING BRAKE. HANDBRAKE LOOSE FIX!
    If you need to adjust the handbrake, parking brake cable on your car because the handbrake feels too loose and does not work we will explain how to do that in this video. Most of the vehicles will use similar design to adjust the handbrake, parking brake so this video will work on multiple car makes and models. Our handbrake was too loose and as a result the car could easily roll downhill because the handbrake / parking brake was not functioning correctly. By adjusting the handbrake / parking brake we were able to easily fix that and our handbrake felt firm and working correctly again. Make sure that you do not over tighten the handbrake cable too much to avoid the handbrake dragging all the time which could be dangerous and lead to accidents.

    Back wheels of the deck, handbrake off and turn the adjuster nut until the rear wheel start to bind, then back the nut of a turn or two till the wheels are free.
    If the cables are stretched and there's no thread left on the adjuster rod, take the nut of the adjuster rod, use such as steel washers to make a spacer, putting them on the rod, then screw the nut back on so the washer spacer is between the nut and the cable equaliser bracket. This will allow extra adjustment.

      You say till the breaks are free m8 if handbrake is loose does it make the car feel like it's being held back by the breaks

      @@craigrichardson5367I tightened my handbrake like how it’s done in the video and while it wouldn’t hold the car most of the time it was much better then before. I drove it one day and then parked it back on level ground. The next the the handbrake was extremely loose and didn’t hold the car at all on a tiny slope. Any idea what to do?

    Would a handbrake in this condition cause the rear pads to bind against the rotors? My handbrake is really wobbly but still engages well, and both my rear wheels won't spin. I suspect they're 2 separate problems but worth asking just incase it could be related.
    Two front wheels spin fine.

      What did you find out?

    • @stephaniesheridan5474
      @stephaniesheridan5474 2 роки тому

      @@jayflow4260 Where the handbrake cable was attached to the rear wheels...it had seized so the brackets that were keeping the brakes applied (handbrake on)...were stuck in the same position even with the handbrake off.
      The brackets just needed lots of wd40 and wiggling back and forth to "unstick" them.
      Hope I explained that ok haha.
