The best video that shows and explains an ebrake adjustment on utube! Thank you!
I had a shop do brakes on my car. The emergency brake worked fine until after they worked on it... Now I'm taking it to a different mechanic and getting this done. And making the other shop give me my money back! Thanks for the detailed video! 👍
Alimech you seem not to be answering questions here. You only appreciate those who said excellent video. Try to respond to questions as well. Most of us learn from those questions and the answers you follow up with
same here, my parking brake worked fine until I replaced my brake/rotor/caliper at a big box shop, now they want another $1000 to fix the parking brake
Bro this was really good. Simple, straight to the point and easy to understand. Very clean job 😊👍🏼
Thanks for the great tip! When I started working on my family's cars, they were adjusted by tightening a cable, usually under about the middle of the car. Yes, I am so old that I remember when dirt was invented.
Wow very nice camera angles and explanation! This is the clearest video I've watched on how to adjust the parking brake for my Camry.
Mine is the exact opposite. I had a friend replace rear brake pads and the Parking brake shoe and if I’m on a slight hill and take my foot off the brake it won’t go up without pressing the gas. I feel like there some slight restriction and I’m having to press on the gas like 10-15% harder to maintain speed
Incredibly good video including the quality. Very informative with crystal clear video. Excellent job!
Thanks, all good to do my rotors tomorrow
You're very clear and precise on your explanations, great channel you have here man. Liked and subscribed 🤙
Thank you , i was easily able to adjust my parking brake by watching your video.
I've put up with my parking brake in the camry getting worse for 3yrs and now not holding the car at all. Today that all changes 😎
Thanks for the way how to do adjustment on parking brake. excellent video and easy to understand.thanks again bro.keep it up impressive work on next video.
The instruction & photo are in good quality. This make video clip become helpful and practical.
Thankyou
Nice took so long to find this video. One time I left my car on parking brake and put it on drive and it was moving and is what I need to do
Excellent video nice and clear thank you for that preciate it buddy thumbs up
Great video. Awesome explanation and everything. I just have 1 question when adjusting how much resistance should the rotor have when you spin it. I understand you should still be able to spin by hand but how hard should it be when spinning? I’ve watch another video where that person explained to keep adjusting until you can no longer spin and than loosen it by a couple clicks and that way both sides would be equal. Do you think that’s a good way to tell how much to tighten it?
Thanks!
Good job. What you call a 13mm bolt for pulling off the disc rotor is in fact an 8mm M8 bolt that has a 13mm AF head!
Thank you Brother. I am having similar problem in my Camry. I will try fix it soon.
Bien explicado saludos de Monterrey
I really liked this video. So pushing up on star wheel tightens parking brake shoes and pushing down loosens them. Correct? I would always get it mixed up.
Thanks for the great video! As an amateur car enthusiast, I've got two questions:
1. To open the brake shoes and get them closer to the rotor, is there a particular direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) you need to turn the small gearwheel using the flat screwdriver?
2. Do you need to do this for both rear wheels? Or is one sufficient?
Apologies in advance if my questions are too dumb. Appreciate a response. Thanks!!
Dear Ali - Great video As ususal !
I have a short question. I want to change my rear brake dust shield (2013 Lexus RX350). I believe I have to remove the bearing first. Do you know if I have to take the entire energy brake apart, or would I be able to just release the cable and reroute it through the new dust shield? Your reply is much appreciated!
Is it true turning the adjuster wheel upwards would expand the pads closer to the rotors for both the left and right sides? Therefore makes it tighter when pulling the hand brake handle.
Good video, but next time also mention, please, first, to put your brake caliper back on you have to push piston back with a special tool (or wedge or whatever suitable for you) and also you have to monitor brake level liquid (where your small brake liquid tank is located) whilst pushing the piston. Second, adjustment of your hand brake should be done kind of simultanuously on both rear wheels and you should check and test it rather by hand and NOT by counting of how much gears you clicked. Also I agree with the comment about cleaning compelte drum brake unit with brake cleaner liquid or spray as that will remove lubrication from the pairs of friction (which are gliding/sliding pins of the brake pads), however I don't mind of spray liquid cleaning the drum itself. Third, I wouldn't recommend people to check and test hand brake tightness by simply engaging the brake and setting automatic gear, because it is ridiculous mate!! Use any natuaral or artificial ramp elevation/inclination rather than your automatic transmission. Other than that, man... This video is the true good video of how hand brake should be adjusted (NOT on the hand brake lever, but on the wheels). Good on you!
Yeah, pretty awesome tutorial for the amateurs like me. However, I'm strugling to buy the right 13 mm bolt to remove the rotor.
I got one, but the thread may not be the same angle/pitch. Any more detailed spec for that bolt, please?
Is this the same for ford falcon BA?
Good day I have an infinity i30 maxima but my hand brake is a foot pedal an it's really lose but I don't know if it carry brake shoes in the back I know it's four wheel disk do you have any info on this an how do I adjust it I recently bought the car used
You very calm explaining what you are doing and using well selected angles. Your rear wheel have both types of brakes? Disc and polie?
Do I really need that rubber plug back in or its okay if I didnt put it back in?
What a great video!! my only question is , do i have to adjust only one wheel or both of them?
Very good video, I will apply your advice, could you give me the name of the spray you use to clean the brakes, thanks.
I love ti
Thanks for the tips. Just wondering how do you ensure both rear tyres has the same amount of ‘grab’ when you engage the handbrake? Is there an indicator or it’s just done by feel for each rear wheel? Thanks
Count the teeth When you turn the adjusters, and after you done, engage the brake and drive the car forward if its front wheels drive, if both wheels locked, you r good to go, but always count the teeths
is it supposed to spin freely on awd vehicle as well
In my 17 Camry, when I'm in reverse and hit the brake, there's a clicking sound. But there's no clicking when I'm in Drive. Any thoughts?
great video, subscribed.
excuse my question if it is silly. but is this process done to all 4 tires or only the back ones, or what exactly?
Thanks Ali
Do you do both sides of the rear or just the drivers side?! Excellent video!!!
Thanks, yes of course, that's my latest video ua-cam.com/video/z57Whp-9dFg/v-deo.html but different car, if you wanna see more and understand the process better
Cool, thanks!! The car I'm needing the ebrake adjustment in is my '17 Sonata Sport, and I'm thinkn it's very similar to the Camry you did here!!
mine was not adjusted with the hole. I had Firestone replace the brakes, roots, and caliper and they didn't bother aligning the holes
The part where you used a flat screw driver ,is it for the hand brake or the pedal brake ?
my car that problem and also when I turn the car right and left and y uturn I hear the sound inder car around the brake. And when I pust brake too show on. You know what is problem? I have 2015 camry se
Did I miss something or can you not just adjust the parking break by rotating with the screwdriver through that hole without removing the rotor? Why was there a need to take out the rotor in the first place?
My handbrake makes noise when driving, I think it's touching but I can still roll tires fine. Is this issue with something else?
Lol just now I ask my mechanic regarding adjustment the foot brake.
He said it can’t be adjusted!!
I’m not a mechanic and I know it can 😅😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂❤
Is it normal to hear some friction after adjustments, even if it spins freely? If I adjust to where there is no friction sound, the ebrake doesn't hold the car when engaged.
I have a toyota Mark II 2004 gx110. When Handbrake is on and if i move the gear lever to R or D, the car moves. It shouldn't have moved if Handbrake was on. So is this video's fix similar for my problem ?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW
no, it shouldn't move, it should lock the read wheels, even if u put on D, it should drag rear locked wheels, but don't let it spin
@@AliMECH if i follow these steps on this video, will it help me. i mean does my car have this problem which u mentioned in ur video
Good video my friend, Will using a brake gauge be more easier when adjusting?
Did you figure out why its not automatically adjusting your foot brakes? You manually tightened it... so it will happen time after time again.
Yes its adjusting but not that much, the car was still moving, so yes maybe after few years it will need adjustment
Torque down the lug nuts to specification.
Impact wrench on lug nuts ?? Thats a HUGE NO.
I have a 2016 Camry and it looks nothing like this particular car - I followed your advice and cleaned everything, then put it back together, but was unable to adjust the brakes.
brother same process to a 2010 toyota prius?
Yes, you can watch my latest video, I explain which wheel should be bleeded first

Great video! My only concern would be spraying brake fluid everywhere you risk removing all of the required grease, typically 6-places on the back plate, upper pivot where shoes come together and so on...
