- It wouldn’t be fair, after a couple of hours of driving, to judge the W990 against the W900L’s 18 years in the market, but I have to say it showed very well. If the truck had any other badge on it, I think early approval numbers would be off the chart.
“The W990 is not just a new version of the W900L. It’s a unique product,” says Kenworth Design Director Jonathan Duncan. “It’s a very different cab and the truck has very different proportions. We wanted to make sure it was a modern product. It will live in a world surrounded by modern design. Look at modern automotive design; people come to expect that in their trucks as well. This truck makes no apologies for what it is. It’s a proud truck for proud drivers.”
The new kid in town will have to elbow his way up to the bar and jostle a bit to find his place, but I’m confident the W990 will earn a spot on the order boards. It’s a great truck, even if its modern looks don’t yet appeal to some more conservative truck buyers.
I've had my W990 for a lil bit over 2 weeks and it's definitely a sharp looking truck and a dream to drive. I've been driving T880's since 2014 and this W990 rides better than those trucks, not to mention that it turns pretty good as well for being a set forward front axle truck.
Got a 2022 w990 4 axle with 18 speed i pull a 4 axle RGN heavy haul i like it and all but my heart will always belong to the w900
How does it turn?
As good as anything else, or like a W900
W990 is a fantastic truck ❤ specially with big red X15 cummins aka The Cat killer😂
"flagship to be" yet there's no special sleeper option
Finally!!! Been waiting for this!!
Are you guys going to do a review of the kenworth K270 and or K370?
I'm running into an option and a hard choice for 2 trucks I have never driven.
T680- financial wise better. Paccar automatic. I say automatic but im not fluent with the different types of automatics. Running the Paccar transmission.
W990- 18speed Eaton with Cummins x15 100th anniversary edition.
As running owner op and being fairly new to the newer trucks. Are there advantages with the Cummins over paccar? I hear different things from everyone. Any suggestions?
Nice truck isn't it?
At the end you call the truck a W900,habit?
you are great
hai
PACCAR engines are actual trash. Isx is loads better
Cummins is the biggest garbage engine on the market right now. Especially after it was sold to Chinese. Paccar has improved a lot since 2017
@@Edwardsz13 none of the new engines are any screaming hell! After the 13 year learning curve, Cummins X15 is slightly better than when they came out. I still prefer the old NT855 or a Cat 3406.
Cheers
@@carlthor91 the only Cummins I'll take is N14
We have 8 paccar engines in our trucks and they are pretty good engines. They are all 2014 and newer. I been told that the early ones had some problems.
Yeah I like the sound of cummins
Nothing like W900L
Just curious, what was the load weight, sorry I'm not a trucker, so I may be using the wrong terms.
at 2:40 he says empty or lightly loaded, so basically he's just pulling a trailer
He said empty or lightly loaded and an empty curtain sider trailer like that usually weighs around 15500lb.
