I get what Fish is saying. And I'm sure he believes what he's saying, too. But your company just signed the hottest, most anticipated free agent since Ultimate Warrior, and in a match that means absolutely nothing, you decide to...kick out of his finisher?!?! Not a Punk guy, but that's just not the right play. If Fish is this seasoned veteran, he should've known better.
I thought I was the only person who felt this way. I go on the observer board and voices of wrestling discord and get told how I’m dumb and don’t know wrestling :(
Yep, noted tough guy and MMA nobody Bobby Fish flexing on skinny fat Phil Brooks isn't exactly endearing nor a good look. Just comes off like a d***head bully. No wonder dude is back to working high school gyms.
This guy doesn't want to put over CM Punks finish because he was bad at mma and his "kicks looks awful" and because Punk isn't "legit" But he will put over the 5'7 160lb guy that puts his hands in his pockets and has a phony Superman punch. Ironic how he’s so judgmental about Punk’s move-set, yet has no issue selling for allll the other wrestlers on the roster with shit move sets too. You won’t sell for Punk because his kicks are shit but you’ll sell for Orange Cassidy’s Orange Punch, Claudio’s swing, Jericho in general, etc. ?
Agree 1000000% sounds a bit like sour grapes. Just put people over, just put everybody over. work together. Also let's remember people this is scripted this is all scripted. One person has great technique the other person's techniques sucks who cares! put on a good match and shut up. Does Bobby fish really think there are fans watching this on TV critiquing all punk's real martial arts acumen? Punk doesn't have good technique but Bobby fish has great technique? who cares? Hey bro it's not a real fight okay? Put on a good match try to have a lot of Charisma and remember this is all scripted do it for the money. what are you doing lately mr. Bobby fish? To me as a long long time wrestling fan it looks like the business is filled with megatons worth of jealousy among the wrestlers. Don't know very much about Bobby Fischer except I think that mustache is silly but as always I wish him what I wish everybody health, wealth, and happiness. I wish all these wrestlers and I mean all these wrestlers could just get along with each other so they can make money and we the fans could see some good matches😂
I’m a fan of his but it’s kind of ridiculous to talk about a problem selling Punks silly mma inspired kicks when god knows how many Young Bucks superkicks he sold during the ReDragon days.

@oldboygamer9985 the old-school decided this and everybody he's doing a superkick is not trying to be a martial artist or pretending to be one like CM Punk. There are no imaginary places in pro wrestling and it's own little world that you're not a part of Mark and never will be because you're not man enough to get in the business . The p in Cm Punk stands for Petty. I'm so tired of excuses after excuses being made for Punks poor attitude. He is the most bitter and petty person in Wrestling. His personality is confrontational. Why does he always get a pass for his poor behavior?
Whether you're a Punk fan or not, Fish comes off so weird and bitter here. You can use any excuse you want, there's one wrestler between the two of them who is over regardless of their level of expertise in martial arts, and it ain't Bobby Fish.
Couldn't agree more, in fact they're all ganging up to bash on Punk. If you're such a big man you shouldn't feel the need to go on a podcast and bitch about someone, keep it between yourselves.
Its pretty obvious here that Konnan and Disco don't like Punk because they like the Bucks and think they are all good guys, so they have people onto rag on him. There's no top guy that would be ok with some mostly unknown doing this and they ALL KNOW IT you don't have your top guy out there working with a guy to give him an opportunity and you are ok with the guy kicking out at 1...thats insane. Punk would have been in the right to tell Tony "Who the fuck is this guy to kick out at 1" he would have been buried by anyone this is hilarious@@paulmcd1982
The incident with Bobby Fish is another example of what happened to CM Punk in AEW. Fish has not drawn 1/100th of the money that Punk has, but he felt that it was acceptable to go into business for himself on national tv. It was completely unprofessional on Fish's part, and Tony should have dealt with it at the time. Fish can sit here and belittle Punk all day long, but it doesn't change the fact that Fish is essentially out of the business, while nearly every company on Earth would hire Punk, if they can afford him.
@@kyleday5026 Say that to the extra 200,000 fans watching every time he showed up on dynamite. He can draw 1/5 of their entire audience. The network Tony Khan is partnered with wanted CM Punk to headline a saturday show and he was used as a bargaining tool to get another show in saturday. But yeah sure he's not a draw. Highest AEW merch sales, even when he's fired.
The conversation glosses over that Gall was not the noob that would have been at a level of someone like Punk; the UFC sandbagged him a bit. Gall choked out Sage Northcut in his next fight, won three more and went to a decision with Mike Perry. They clearly picked a "1-0" fighter they thought could get a name off the Punk fight, when Punk was only in the UFC because they approached him to have his beginner fight there instead of some regional promotion. Someone the level of the guy Batista fought would have been more in line.
Thats the thing Gall was no shulb and had a pretty respectable record over what 6 years in ufc? 100% Punk didnt belong in ufc but thats on Dana and ufc tho Punk was going to do amateur fights but they offered him a contract cause there was ppv money to be made off his name

Bobby Fish is 46 and still not over. He was the fourth wheel in the Undisputed Era, an afterthought in AEW, and he has a hard-on for CM Punk because he didn't get on with his friends, the Young Bucks. Hence his ire here.
Sorry, Bobby Fish was obviously dismissive of and disrespectful towards Punk. It came across pretty clear both in the ring and backstage, and he's blaming Punk for it.
@@notgonnalieitsprettyfunny7884 Not at all, but in this case he really didn't do anything to Bobby Fish. Bobby had a shit attitude towards Punk from the beginning over his belief that his martial arts suck, and used it as an excuse to no-sell Punk's moves (which is unprofessional). Absolutely no problem with Punk burying this clown to Tony given the situation. Punk worked with a lot of other talent who he spotlighted, without issue.
@@williamferraro6581That is correct and Bobby is attempting to sound like he is in the right riding off Other things to do with Punk. When it happened, you could see the disappointment on Punk's face with the kick out and how it messed with the presentation. As the person who screwed up, Fish was supposed to make it right and take it on the chin right then backstage. But what he Did is tell that "squeeze" story from the Beginning and act like he did Nothing wrong. So this interview reveals that he Did have a funky attitude towards Punk and that the truth is Highly likely that he did what he did for his Own reasons....and in That situation Punk was right. Fish didn't do business...and now tries to blame Punk for his own s hit attitude on what he did.
Now let's have someone come on and tell stories about Bobby Fish. (My point is: you can ALWAYS find someone to say unfavorable things about someone. Not that anything Fish is saying is 'wrong', but please maintain perspective, people.) And I love how he simultaneously holds the position of "hey it's a work man" and "can you believe Punk asked Moxley to sell for him?" Fish seems like yet another guy who doesn't get that it's a business and it's about money.
I'm having a hard time thinking of another (sober/clean) wrestler in the history of the business whose had as many incidents with others as CM Punk, especially in one year; and especially with guys who had no previously known issues with others in recent years (e.g., Regal) or ever.
The squeeze excuse lmao he is obviously lying. Nobody would think punk would be telling him to kick out of his FINISHING MOVE!!! This dude sound like he listens to Russo all day everyday
You kicked out of the biggest guy in the companies finish. He’s not “politicking” he’s saying “what the hell is this guy doing?” You’re not in some middling indie fed or karate friend time wrestling in Japan. You’re on national tv.
I can't believe that they are sitting here agreeing with this guy - especially when multiple top guys in AEW have had their own locker rooms and SHOULD protect their finishers.
Bobby fish is 100000% right about everything but he's the same cunt as punk as he complains and on live tv does that. Same way punk complains but goes on a media scrum/tv and takes shots....

Same thing. And let's be honest here, AEW refs are the most incompetent refs since there's been wrestling. They're not really professionals at what they do.
So let me get this straight: You can’t call yourself a locker room leader, but you can call yourself a martial art “expert”. Also, imagine telling the biggest star in the company “I’m not selling your move because the way you do it looks like crap.” Imagine if someone said that to Hogan over his punches, big boot or leg drop. The irony of him telling Punk to “have some self awareness “.
@quickcar5255 Punk was also not even the biggest star in AEW. Dude couldn't even draw more ratings than Orange Cassidy and top two least attended PPVs in AEW history were based around Punk's return and his dog collar match with MJF.

AEW is going down the exact same path as WCW, I watched it in the 90's and I'm reliving it all over again now. Weird how loved AEW was until CM Punk arrived and they all watched the numbers drop and chaos ensue backstage. No one likes to cheer for the losing team, and the entire company lost when they gained that one guy.
Punk only helped AEW, without him the company wouldn't have lasted this long. We are slowly seeing the effects of not having a true top & money making star in the promotion. 1) Record low ticket sales for live/tv shows 2) No increase in Dynamite viewership 3) Extremely low TV ratings for Rampage 4) The trainwreck & disaster that is known as Collision AEW was a sinking ship from the get-go once they proved they were NOT WWE's rival/competitor. This is like the 5th time I've heard someone who worked with CM Punk say he tried to make himself locker room leader without the support of the locker room. Cody said it Booker said it Jericho said it RVD said it And now Bobby Fish is saying it.

@@RichardCrane-j2uAccording to Jericho, Punk did claim to be locker room leader in WWE. Cody was talking with Jericho before AEW even got Punk signed. Cody mentioned that someone claimed themselves to be locker room leader, but didn’t want to say it was Punk, as AEW was still trying to get him to sign. Jericho, on the other hand, had no qualms about saying it who it was. I never heard Booker actually say it, but in the story that Cody and Jericho told, Booker laughed at the notion of Punk being locker room leader, threw something on the floor of the locker room, and basically dared Punk to try and make him pick it up.
So let me get this straight... Bobby Fish's whole beef with Punk in AEW was because Punk did shitty in UFC? Idk whats more pathetic, that he held a grudge about that, or that fans blew the whole things out of proportion.
Sure.. If you ignore his comments about Punk's moves looking bad due to a lack of real skill.. Or Phil's political antics. Both things being issues outside of the UFC.

"Embarass the people that trained me" To be fair the RoufusSport team already had a level of controversy and embarassment before CM Punk ever trained under them. From the allegations of bullyjng to Ben Askrens stand up. If anything the criticism of Punks stand up game coupled with what we saw from Askren during his time starts to build out a picture that maybe stand up is something that isn't always covered well over there. Which is odd given that the Roufus brothers made their names in kickboxing.
I mean you can really say showtime was the only fighter out there that had a standup game even Sergio isn’t even close to a good standup guy. He’s better at mixing it up and using his wrestling to dictate his fights.
The Pettis brothers trained there and both are world champions so I would not blame it on the gym. As the saying goes, you can cover a cat turd with chocolate but it's still chocolate covered cat shit.
I really liked Bobby when he was in NXT. I like Fish a lot less after watching this interview. He said that he didn't respect Punk because of his UFC failure. Combat sports and wrestling are two very different things. Unless I missed something Punk did not do anything to Fish before their match. Punk wasn't disrespectful to Bobby at all. Bobby went into business for himself. He didn't do the job that he was paid to do because he had a personal grudge. The guy deserved to be "released" from AEW.
“I thought he wanted me to kick out, so he could pick me up and give me another GTS because we had a good match.” Bro, you’re Bobby Fish not Brock Lesnar. Why would you think anyone would want you kicking out of their finish, let alone world champ of the promotion CM Punk?

Wait wait wait wait..... so Bobby assumed Punk got in Tony's hear specifically about the GTS, and then assumed Punk was being passive aggressive, and then chose to treat him that way from that point on..... Did Tony ever say anything to Bobby about it? Did Bobby's booking get effected by it? Were other people treating him any sort of way about it? .... or did he just make an assumption about somebody he admittedly already had no respect for based on what happened in UFC? Isn't it possible that Punk could tell that Bobby clearly had no respect for him? lol Bobby jumped to "the undertaker is a real locker room leader" just because Punk tried calming down a heated situation? and who got in who's face? I'm sorry but if i already don't like somebody, i'm going to see everything they do as a problem in some way or anything, even if it isn't one, because i don't fcking like them.... that doesn't actually mean they were being a problem... it just means i have a problem with them..... This is basic social shit.. But then a kick can look sloppy because you are selling it too. You have been in a match for sometime and you are exhausted. That kick could be your desperate attempt for a comeback. I can get behind Fish's stance on Punk trying to assert himself as locker room leader. What a lot of fans will not get behind is Punk's moveset looking fake. This generation was raised on Cena who has a sloppy style & shouts match instructions so loud the cheap seats can hear. Even before Cena the top guys were never the most technical wrestlers
At the time Punk and Fish wrestled, Punk was coming off an extremely long layoff. Obviously, there are going to be issues with cardio and ring rust. Any guy coming off a 9 year layoff is going to have weaknesses. As a veteran who was essentially functioning as a job guy in the match, it was Fish's job to act like a professional and make Punk look good. Instead, Fish chose to go into business for himself and expose those weaknesses. It was extremely unprofessional, which seems to be a recurring theme in AEW. Basically, AEW is what PWG would have been if they had a rich backer. It is just a place for The Elite play with their friends. As long as incidents like this continue to happen, AEW will never be more than it is.
Problem is, prior to this incident, nobody was going into business for themselves in AEW. Literally no one. Funny thing is, in all instances where someone would go into business for themselves and be unprofessional about something, Punk is always in between. This coming from a Punk fan by the way.

He clearly just admitted he was being unprofessional and didn't follow what they had planned. So yes CM punk had a reason to be upset. BE PROFESSIONAL DON'T DO YOUR OWN THING
I kind of liked watching Fish and O’Reilly in ROH, although I didn’t get the red dragon thing. This is the second or third time I’ve heard him being interviewed and he, like many, lacks the same self awareness that seems to permeate the indies.
More hand bags and children stuff. CM Punk definitely sounds like a doosh, but Bobby ain't exactly coming off here like the adult in the room. Sounds like Bobby was more bothered that Punk was the top guy, and he didn't appreciate Punks work. Probably why Bobby has always been a bottom to mid card guy. He's top guy for a reason Bobby weather you like his martial arts or not. Either way, the whole AEW locker room is toxic children nonsense. It's embarrassing.
Has anyone told Bobby Fish that CM Punk's spin kick is a work? This isn't martial arts, Cm Punk isn't trying to actually be-head his opponent with the kick.
Bobby is salty towards Punk and is just running his mouth. Punk is a huge star and the biggest merch seller AEW had. He's just jealous. Besides Punk was dealing with children and now we get to see that Punk was in the right.
This sounded like a lot of jealousy to me. Punk wasn't great in the UFC, but he was a guy in his late 30's who had zero previous experience, and who had his first matches in the top company in the world after two years of training. He was fighting guys who were much younger and probably had a decade of training and experience under the belts. The fact that Punk had the guts to attempt it, and didn't get completely destroyed says a lot about how tough he is. Fish doesn't even have the guts to try, so he can act like Mr. Tough Guy all day long, but it doesn't change the fact Punk did something that most people would never even think of doing. I have a ton of respect for him, and Fish should too.
The pro way to answer the question was "I thought he called an audible, I kicked out and I shouldn't have. end of story", no need to be trying to bury him and try and pretend like it wasn't a big deal to be in a match with him. Punk didn't need to be in the ring with Bobby Fish. As for Punks UFC career... what does that have to do with anything relating to kicking out on 3? maybe his saltiness about the UFC stuff was why he kicked out. Pro's don't kick out on 3 when they have discussed the finish, that is an old school way of looking strong while losing and saying fuck you to your opponent. Any top guy would have went to management afterwards, that's what you do when someone tries to sandbag you on live tv.
Im sorry, but hearing Bobby Fish say that CM Punk embarrassed and disrespected martial arts and then seeing him go for a takedown during a boxing match makes me laugh 😂
Very disappointed in Konnan and Disco not challenging Fish on this. Fish went into business for himself on national TV against their biggest star, and essentially over nothing (he didnt like Punk's martial arts and thought the iggies were "different'). I gotta unsubscribe on that one. If your whole mission is keeping it 100 and supporting the business with unbiased, honest reviews, then you better be real in the interviews. You let someone smear the business without any challenging questions, just sycophantic responses.
I’ve listen to a lot of podcast and a lot of people talk about this. I think I’ve got it figured out. They don’t like CM punk because he makes more money than they do and does whatever he wants to. He probably acts like a bitch sometimes, but still makes more money than them, and they can’t stand it.
Fan of Bobby Fish's in-ring work, but how unfortunate he thinks this way. Danielson would never talk a wrestler down like this. Not every wrestler is a 5* athlete, so he made it sound like he can only have good matches with good wrestlers. That's not how the show works, lol. I do feel Disco really tee'd this one up about the UFC and then he just ran with it, though. Then Konnan tried to reel him back in.
That shows how much of an ego Bobby has to sit there and make claims for an entire audience that Punk is insulting their intelligence, when in fact, Punk was working how he always has had, especially with his kicks to the side of the head. That's always been one of the spots Punk does, and then both wrestlers drop to the ground after. It's a break spot. This just sounds like a bitter old dude who is fishing (Pun intended) for something to complain about Punk for. It speaks volumes when a top guy who you were in a faction with over in WWE for 4+ years in Adam Cole wouldn't even vouch for you to stay in the AEW, which is why you ended up over in Impact.

Exactly. Punk shouldn't be singled out for it , he DERSERVES his perks. I mean hasnt't the guy been bullied enough by his family, fans, Vince McMahon , HHH , UFC , the Elite , Jungle boy . They can't handle someone that sticks up for himself and be the voiceless of the voiceless . He stands up for LGBT and that's why wrestling is so great now, he made wrestling gay again 🎤

Face it, wrestlers aren't rocket scientists, and noone should take anything they say or think too serious (unless "not" doing so leads to them smacking you. 'Cuz THAT would most likely hurt.).

Weirdly enough, this is the first time I’ve heard of Bobby Fish. Apparently he thinks Wrestling is about how good you are at Martial Arts.
🤣 right?!
MMA is too much of wrestling nowadays. If I wanted MMA, I'd watch UFC. Always hated watching O'Reilly in NXT. Riddle uses a lot, but he mixes in the wrestling too. He has a good balance.
@@CoolCATs2814 MMA is not wrestling and never has been. Wrestling is a story based show where even the wrestling tells a story. MMA is all about fighting and winning without any input from a creative team.

Has anyone else seen Bobby Fish's MMA fight? He was in full head gear with shin guards. Bobby Fish was in NXT in his 40s, came to AEW and was let go a few months later. You guys should interview someone of more substance. This guy couldn't sell candy to children.
Where’s the lie?
Wait wait wait wait..... so Bobby assumed Punk got in Tony's hear specifically about the GTS, and then assumed Punk was being passive aggressive, and then chose to treat him that way from that point on.....
Did Tony ever say anything to Bobby about it? Did Bobby's booking get effected by it? Were other people treating him any sort of way about it? .... or did he just make an assumption about somebody he admittedly already had no respect for based on what happened in UFC?
Isn't it possible that Punk could tell that Bobby clearly had no respect for him? lol
Bobby jumped to "the undertaker is a real locker room leader" just because Punk tried calming down a heated situation? and who got in who's face?
I'm sorry but if i already don't like somebody, i'm going to see everything they do as a problem in some way or anything, even if it isn't one, because i don't fcking like them.... that doesn't actually mean they were being a problem... it just means i have a problem with them..... This is basic social shit..
All of this shit Bobby was talking about was personal opinion shit... as far as things Punk actually did, it amounted to "gave me the iggy," "was talking to tony after the match," "told me it was no problem," and "told everybody to keep it down" when things in the back were getting heated..... sounds like a real trouble maker to me....
Who is Bobby Fish to have any secret expectation of how somebody should treat him based on a standard in his own imagination set by things he's heard about the guy? Am I the only one who thinks that sounds completely unreasonable and narcissistic?
Hi Phil 👋

I have to look back at his kicks but I feel like Bobby just doesn't like Punk, period. Telling Mox to sell is not bad lol. But yeah, if it looks bad, then I understand. But then a kick can look sloppy because you are selling it too. You have been in a match for sometime and you are exhausted. That kick could be your desperate attempt for a comeback. If you are letting it known backstage that his mma is bad then it's starting trouble. Just like when the Bucks were blaming Punk for Colt's release. It's a fact that Punk never spoke about Colt again after all that mess about suing each other. The guy cut off his own brother for stealing from him. When he's done with you, he's done.
He's bullshitting. Why would he think Punk wanted a tag team guy to kick out of his finisher? Absurd. And he's criticising Punk as a worker, 😂 I'm no Punk fan, cant stand him, but this little fella is deluded. Punk is clearly a very good professional wrestler, and his martial arts background is irrelevant. Does Fish realise that wrestling is staged?

Cause he is butt buddies with the elite and potentially Alverze and Meltzer I am taking everything this mf saying with a grain of salt. Not to mention, what I am getting is, fish doesn’t like Punk cause he had a poor attempt at MMA?
What’s annoying is, that was years ago. We don’t know if Punk’s MMA has been sharpen or not, and the meat swallowing Disco was doing was annoying.
@@DWMCrasher98nonsense. Kingston and Sammy revolved around Sammy going into business for himself on the mic, then Sammy and Andrade got into it because Sammy claimed Andrade “hit him too hard”. Don’t play this game these people have been getting into spats over what happens on tv since day 1.

@@DWMCrasher98you said in “all instances” punk was in the middle of it. That’s incorrect. Punk leaving changes nothing. Big swole had issues before punk and aired that Tony was “smoking her drugs”and partying with the wrestlers - this tells me the company has lacked a respected boss since day 1. We don’t know the majority of issues because they don’t leak. When it comes to punk every single thing he did was leaked to Meltzer. Anyway it’s unfair to pin the companies issues on punk. They’ll continue and the company won’t last because Tony wants to be everyone’s friend.

I think they were talking about Punk being good back in the day. Now he is a sloppy, slow, 60 yo looking man. The fact that Tony Khan even let Punk return in the shape he was (especially this past summer, jesus christ he looked embarrassing) shows he has no control over his talent.
Seem like bobby was jealous of punk 😂😂😂
I think 90% of the AEW lockerroom was jealous of punk
That’s all it was
He clearly just admitted he was being unprofessional and didn't follow what they had planned.
This isn't martial arts, Cm Punk isn't trying to actually be-head his opponent with the kick.
he knows it is but looks weak bobby is old school if it looks weak he wont sell it exposes punk
Bobby is salty towards Punk and is just running his mouth. Punk is a huge star and the biggest merch seller AEW had. He's just jealous. Besides Punk was dealing with children and now we get to see that Punk was in the right.
It's like this new generation of wrestlers don't believe Punk earned his status.
Bobby talks trash about Punk's roundhouse kicks but sells superkicks??? 🙄🙄🙄
Bobby Fish : "I mean folks where's the lie?" *Couldn't hear pin drop*... someone yell CM PUNK!
Biggest takeaway: Bobby fish is jealous of Phil Brooks. But folks... Where's the lie?
*Crickets*
Put them in a ring and let them settle it for real. Bet Punk wouldn't do it.
