Billy Gunn gave a recent interview where he was asked if he liked coaching. He said he loved it, but it was really hard sometimes. He said that he had a few guys on the roster that regularly came to him for advice, but he said that most of them refuse to listen to anything, and it got very frustrating sometimes.
Billy Gunn never drew a dime outside of DX. he might know some good things about fitness and match structure, but he is a nostalgia act. he was never over on the microphone or in the ring on his own. not once. it was always with New Age Outlawz, with DX as a group, with Road Dogg, with HHH. the best advice he could possibly offer is, find your spot, and hold onto it as long as you can.

@@MisterAlerion You could just give your thoughts on Billy Gunn and leave the "draw" stuff out of it. I'm sure old man Billy Gunn can help others "draw" with his knowledge more than old man Fish can with his struggle MMA style lol.
He was legit terrified of his employees for Christ sakes. He really needs to grow a sac. Is this how the Jaguars deal with him? If so he screwed when dad leaves him the empire
Are you an employee of Tony Khan's? How the hell would you know how he relates to his employees - by watching him on SCRIPTED TELEVISION programming? Jesus.
Agreed. People giving third party channels extra views and getting people talking about your drama isn't necessarily a win for your actual company. It would be like people talking about the Jaguars but the talk is how bad team is in standings and locker room drama.
I love the way Punk talked to Tony like a child. "Don't worry, Tony. We're all learning here.". Because that's what Khan is. He's living a stupid video game fantasy and has to have his hand held in the real world.

I really enjoyed Konnan's comments at 8:00. That perspective and wisdom translates to the corporate and business world, not only wrestling promotions. Do you always want to hire the guy with the big school degree and outgoing personality that might not jive well with the team you're trying to build or sees the job as a stepping stone or might create unnecessary drama? Or do you want to invest your time and money in the guy who might not have as much talent or overall potential but is loyal, reliable, never causes problems and you can mold into who you need for that particular job in that company. It's a tough decision sometimes and many first time managers and business owners only learn that lesson the hard way.

@@antonycuff4512 I tell you what if he sends them home, and Punk keeps eating at that bakery. Someone will end up calling him A F.P.O.S. Then he will be pipe bombing the bakery and whomever called him that.
I think everyone is to blame. He told no lies about The young bucks and omega, but I'm sure Punk is not easy to work with and probably isn't a great "locker room guy". The point is that Tony Khan needs to step up and he the boss and stop being a fanboy or AEW isn't long for this world.
Or he needs to hire someone to do that if he can’t. Tony needs to deal with the high level shit, and bring someone (or even a team) in that can provide leadership in the locker room.
@@frankstudent Exactly, why did he bother bringing in guys like Arn Anderson, Big Show, Mark Henry, etc. for? Could Punk have been a bit more diplomatic towards Tony? Yes. Could he have maybe toned down his attacks on the so-called EVPs and cut Page a bit more face saving slack? Yes. However I agree with almost 99 percent of what Punk said, especially about Page thinking he that he hardly listens to advice and on the EVPs using their dirt sheet connections to cut out the legs of the biggest face on the roster. The way I see it the “EVPs” are basically AEWs version of The Kliq. Tony needs to toughen up or get a strong figure head to represent him when it comes to dealing with the talent.
Could the evps tone down their passive aggressive nature? Could the evps stop being whiny bitches? Could the evps stop spreading lies? Could the evps stop being nasty gossips? Could the evps realise that they actually aren’t very good at anything? Could the evps stop being birthers? Could the evps stop being homophobic whilst being gay for each other? Could the evps grow up?
Nah, Punk proved that everything Triple H, Eddie Kingston, and Hangman Page said about him true. He looked more unprofessional in that media scrum than ANY of the people who criticized him in the past for doing exactly what they said he would do.
I think Punk doing it as he did was perfect. You want to run to the press and talk shit about talent on the sneak. He will wait till the press is gathered and address them all in the open so there are no misunderstandings or denials of what was said for better or worse.
@JuanitoMaxxCarnaje so it's ok for his bosses to run around and talk shit about employees to other managers run their mouths... Kick in his door etc because their mad the employee called the manager out? All or none of them should be fired. Make an angle out of it and move on
I don't like passive aggressive stuff and whether it be the bucks or Kenny Omega, when you run to the dirt sheets and tell them lies a real man is going to push that stuff right back at you and put it all out in the open. Now here's what I will say about Punk. The guy is a classic oh they did it one time ,I'll forgive this they don't know, oh now I'm going to explode! And that may be the chink in his arm but it wasn't on him to go to the "executive not really executive assistance" because they don't know how to be and accuse and ask them did they say it. In the way it's structured little that can be done with passive aggressive people. Ones that say things behind your back and whisper to others when all the while it's just a cover.

I think anytime Punk is talking about MJF during this interview it is a work. I believe Punk actually likes MJF and probably enjoyed working with him. All the other comments you can tell is a 100% shoot

He got himself riled up over pointless, kindergarten shit and his feud with his butt budy colt cobana that he forgot to put over the match and further his renewed feud with MJF

The Spot Bucks’ problem is that they are fixed minded and can’t deal with constructive criticism. AEW has always had 2 visions. That why Cody left. Cody wanted 80’s WCW Saturday night, and the Spot Bucks wanted an overproduced PWG/Indy show. And Tony sided with the Elite and Cody bounced. Punk has his vision of AEWand I doubt Tony will side with the Elite against Punk this time around. Also, what if the way Tony got Punk to come to AEW was him affording him a piece of the company?
I thought i was the only one,the AEW do feel like PWG show only in bigger stadium.PWG have this pattern where each match have wrestlers to do suicide dives.
The issue is that anyone would think you have to have one or the other. The whole show has never needed to be all of either. The ideal show would’ve been a bit of both, to appeal to a mass audience. But I think Cody realized that was never going to happen.

Punk was impressed with AEW because of the Brodie situation where everyone kept it to themselves and didn’t share his business. So now there’s these rumors and stories being planted about him and Colt Cabana, so it probably made him feel upset and angry that this kind of stuff is happening. That he is still being attached to Colt Cabana’s name when he has nothing to do with him for years now. And that it’s coming from certain people. Maybe he has proof it was the EVPs maybe he doesn’t, but it’s obvious there’s more to it.

I agree with most of what he’s said just not how he handled it. He emasculated TK doing this. For anybody who still held out any hope of TK being in control that ended in this scrum.
Tony’s responsible for this mess. I think more and more, it’s becoming a reality to him that he’s no longer running an e-fed on the message boards. I think he felt like he was running a e-fed using real people. Now he’s realizing he’s running a real promotion with fake workers. And those guys will tell him whatever he wants to hear to get to where they want to be. He just needs to stop telling them anything they want to hear, so they can remain buddies.

Unfortunately you can’t be the boss and be everybody’s friend. It just isn’t possible. Conflicting interests. It’s also why I know that I myself am a bad manager because I prefer being friends with people over cracking the whip.

He helps run Fultham , the Jaguars, and operates an analytics business. He needs to realize the first wave of big stars he brought in like Jericho, Moxley were ready to start this new endeavor. Now he has the next wave, and they weren't with this from the beginning . I think the exchange between Moxley and Punk was actually a bit true. Moxley is the heart and soul. He literally has shed his blood into the company. Punk is the dollars and sense, he brings an ego that sees himself as the unquestioned top guy. He is above the rest, and that is the issue.
This show pales in comparison to the original podcast that Konnan had with Mr. Saint Laurent & Court Bauer. I know for practical reasons, their show had to come to an end due to Court resurrecting the MLW promotion and Konnan’s desire to have a bigger podcast. I know Konnan came back on the MSL / Court podcast once shortly after Keepin’ It 100 started. It was the “original three” show, and it ruled! MSL & Court ended the podcast shortly after that show as MLW got a new TV contract and the promotion was rising in popularity, even more so than the original promotion’s run in the early 2000’s. The problem with this current show is the inclusion of Disco Inferno. Disco is only good for small doses. Court & MSL would only bring him in for a small segment or an interview, they knew what was up. Here, you’re getting Glenn with no time limit and he just sucks up the oxygen in the room and won’t shut the fuck up. I would subscribe instantly if Court can step away from the MLW promotion once a week, MSL can step away from his duties at IBIW and Konnan can get together with those guys again to do their original podcast, it was money! All the Konnan catchphrases (I’m in Iran right now, The Kazoo, mispronunciations, Backgammon Boy, Wildcat Willie, The Roll Call, Brotherdudes, etc.) all started on the original podcast with Court & MSL
Keep in mind that employees, particularly employees that were executives were going to gang up and assault someone with a busted arm in the locker room.

Nothing punk said about the elite is wrong, people want to says how punk's a cancer to AEW but don't want to see that there was always a divided locker within AEW the elite with their people, Cody with his, & Jericho with his, wasn't the rumor going around how the evp weren't talking to one another (mainly cody & the elite), the young buck refusal to work with FTR (should've been a title vs title match but couldn't stand that more people like FTR) there was no point of a trios title, Adam Page isn't a star he's a mid carder which is why is title run was a failure, & colt cabana was literally doing nothing my standing with the dark order doing nothing so what different did it make moving him to roh? The elite problem is that they are so full of themselves that they really do believe that there shit don't stink & they know everything & do need advice (& there proof of them refusing advice from people) but no all of the elite fanboys will continue to point the finger at someone else I wonder when punk leaves who will be the next person they will point the finger at

Konan is diplomatic
Every fan should listen to Konan on this show, to understand some of the issues a booker deals with.

@@frankstudent Exactly, why did he bother bringing in guys like Arn Anderson, Big Show, Mark Henry, etc. for? Those guys know how wrestlers should behave backstage from experience of being in WWE where these problems are nipped in the bud before they blow up like this. Tony needs to hire a "bad cop" so he can be the good cop. Because he seems to want to be friends with everyone he hires.

I find it amusing that we are supposed to believe a dirt sheet report of what happened after the scrum, right after Punk spent about half an hour burying the dirt sheets.
Yeah but people are running with it for whatever side they agree with. Whether it's the Elite calling out CM Punk and challenging him. Or people creating their own fan fiction of CM Punk and Ace Steel being Farooq and Bradshaw beating up dorks.

Tony Khan needs to black ball the dude
16:23 being a kid in New Mexico, I freaking loved Konnan back in the day!!
“Like an e -fed” right! 😂
He seems like he’s the opposite end of the McMahon spectrum. He’s trying so hard to not be that extreme that he’s on a different end that’s ineffective. Unfortunately you can’t be the boss and be everybody’s friend. It just isn’t possible. Conflicting interests. It’s also why I know that I myself am a bad manager because I prefer being friends with people over cracking the whip.
It's a dumpster fire. Tony Khan is responsible. I'll still never watch their show but this whole thing is hilarious.
Props for this. Because that's sort of the thing I don't think TK grasps. This is absolutely good for drama and entertainment. However, others will be getting the views and monetization not AEW itself lol.

Let's be real....this wouldn't have happened in the WWE under Vince.
They have had many many issues between talent play out on TV but they always make sure to make things work in a professional manor....ie Edge and Matt Hardy.
Vince told them both if either of them takes liberties with each other then they're going to be fired as soon as they come through the curtain. He regulated that shit.

To this point Tony has not proven that he can be the boss because he's too interested in being friends.

@@Sassssky one of the things I respect about Conan is the fact that even though he has worked with aew and Tony Khan, he never has been shy about giving constructive criticism to them.

Tony's real issue is that he wants to run the company and allow creative freedom to the talent. It will always have issues like this because people have different ways of viewing what's good in wrestling and all voices will never be equally heard in the company. He ABSOLUTELY has to be the final say on the direction of the product, but allow the creativity in how the talent gets you there...

Konnan has said several times that he wasn't interested. He's been asked in the past. You can't force someone to work somewhere. He has his hands full with AAA.
Yeah. Although Tony's quite arrogant about the position he's in; doesn't seem to realise he's only doing it 'cos of his daddy's money. He's not there because of his skills.
Third time listening to this from start to finish ..the best take I've heard and with Punk coming back....it's been good to hear this again knowing what we know now!

Disco INFERNO is complety wrong with the Lauler analogy. Adam page and CM Punk Tittle Fighrt was in LAS VEGAS and was the first $1million dollar plus gate for the company. He draws 1 million plus quarter hours on National TV and the YOUNG BUCK EVP OMEGAS loose 200k.
This CM Punk thing is the first time I've taken an interest in any current wrestling since 1999.
3 EVPS approach a talent in his locker room. A fight starts. And people blame the talent. This is why I hate the wrestling business sometimes. Jim Cornette is completely correct.
Disco is 100% wrong.
Punk said “if you got a problem come see me about it”
The elite did so, and it got physical with punk throwing the first punch and his right hand guy throwing a chair.
Punk was the one who went nuts in post scrum, Punk was the one who thought stuff was being leaked when it wasn’t the EVPs, he’s the one who went into business for himself 3 weeks ago, Punk is the one who gets into arguments with everyone he’s met, Punk is a twat and he’s showing it now.

Joey mercury talked about it in his WWE documentary. I’m sure Joey probably did try to do something to lay it back because that’s what a friend does. Konnan nailed it to. I agree it's about what's best for business cause if it's not your ALL out of a job. Tony needs to tell them there's the door whoever doesn't want to to make it about the business.
11:22 - thats cool Konnan, except they are literally the ones playing politics.... sooo maybe you should have given that warning to everybody else in the locker room. lol
Konnan is D-riding the Elite. The Bucks and Kenny are hella overrated. The viewership didn't drop when Kenny took his break. In fact they lost viewers when they came back.
For all the problems Vince had, Eric had, or Paul Heyman had, people knew they were in charge. Eric failed because he got too chummy with the boys. Paul failed because he had no business sense. Vince succeeded because he didn't get too close to any of his top stars, and he knew business.
Tony Khan needs to get counsel from his father imo. He isn't a dumb guy, he knows business.
Just started listening into the show a few weeks ago, and I appreciate what you boys put out.
Great content; keep up the great work!

I tend to side with punk here because he was pretty thorough in his cabana thing. Dude wasn't lying. I guess you can say... punk is a pro wrestler who understands pro wrestling is a business. These other guys are cos playing pro wrestlers
