Not that 'Merry' for the thousands of people forced into fuel poverty because of the 'Green' charges forced apon them through their bills, not to mention the pensioners that have died of the cold because they had to choose to eat rather than heat
The new York City
They suck power out of the grid is what they do
This is an animation for kids! They generate power in winter too, if we are talking a wind park scale and say 30 turbines are frozen. All have blade and internal heating. Only 1 of them, that is currently having the best wind conditions starts heating up thus consuming only a little bit of electricity. When the turbine starts generating power other 5 turbines can start heating up. And so on. This way they can offset the consumed electricity in seconds.
Thats not how it works. They’re all connected to the grid and draw from it when they’re idling. And it’s not a little bit of electricity either. Just the hydraulic motor can draw up to 2k Watts. Every turbine in idle has its hydraulic motor running maintaining pressure ready to pitch the blades when the wind picks up.
@@henrygoodbar9477 wow ok. Have you ever been inside a wind turbine. They only suck power when they are pitching into wind. The hydraulic motors don’t run all the time. Only when there is pressure loss, or when the hub rotates. Also 2 kW is nothing compared to how much electricity it puts out. New turbines put out 15 million kWh without a problem. And consuming 2kW every hour whole year, which is not true, would be only 17 000 kWh. Where is the problem?
They use power any time they are not producing.
@@henrygoodbar9477 yes but very little power, especially compared to the total generation.
