One year since hurricane Ian hit this little island. It really did a lot of damage out here. All the tree's are bare. There is construction everywhere and every building got some kind of damage. South Beach (that I always call "Charlies" for some reason) at the end of the island was burned to the ground and they are coming along on the rebuild. Internet and phone is spotty out here. The state park was open, the beaches and the lighthouse is open. The bakery is gone now but there is still a place to sit and enjoy a lunch, dinner or coffee. Iguana's are wild here and not native to Florida. They are currently wiping out the Gopher Turtles by eating up all the turtle eggs. There is a guy that goes around out here and shoots them. He gets paid by the piece and possible by the size. More dead iguana's the more money he makes. Used to be 4 and 5 foot iguana's running wild out here in late 90's early 2000's
It was another absolutely beautiful day. The sun warmed my body and family warmed my heart. I love spending time with people who care about me in this life. Thanks for the ride Fam! I Love Everyone! Don't tread on me. Live Free, Die Free! Spread Love everywhere you go.
