Basel is a city on the Rhine River in northwest Switzerland, close to the country’s borders with France and Germany. Its medieval old town centers around Marktplatz, dominated by the 16th-century, red-sandstone Town Hall. Its 12th-century Gothic cathedral has city views, and contains the tomb of the 16th-century Dutch scholar, Erasmus. The city’s university houses some of Erasmus’ works.

Basel was the seat of a Prince-Bishopric starting in the 11th century, and joined the Swiss Confederacy in 1501. The city has been a commercial hub and an important cultural centre since the Renaissance, and has emerged as a centre for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in the 20th century. In 1897, Basel was chosen by Theodor Herzl as the location for the first World Zionist Congress, and altogether the congress has been held there ten times over a time span of 50 years, more than in any other location. The city is also home to the world headquarters of the Bank for International Settlements. The name of the city is internationally known through institutions like the Basel Accords, Art Basel and FC Basel.
In 2019 Basel was ranked among the ten most liveable cities in the world by Mercer together with Zürich and Geneva.

Imagine arriving here in the morning, someone handing you keys to your car, pointing to a building and saying, "That's where you live now.", and giving you the keys to an apartment. Then they quietly walk away. Thank goodness my grandmother taught me high German. This really happened to me.
Right at the start (0:15) I saw some great architecture. The cultural capital of Switzerland, full of art museums, a center for education and philosophy, and before I saw this video I had never even heard of Basel! I sure feel stupid!
The buildings are from Herzog & de Meuron they are architectures from Basel. Their buildings are all over the world and look very abstract. Basel is a very small city but is packed with 40 museums, no idea why though.

This time I am disapointed. I know Basel very well and I wonder why you just drove along the Mainroads. In this Video you missed this City somehow. It would have been no big deal to drive along more smaller, normal roads, so we could have seen more where the people live. Not the Highway and the roads nobody drives along, or lives there by free will. I wonder if you did it in your other videos to, probably. How a pity! -But still, I love these Videos :)
