    I bought this monitor 1 week ago and noticed quite high (compared to my experience with my old monitor) input lag, when playing on lower than native resultions. Yes, i upgraded to firmware F7 right from the start, so it isn't a problem with outdated software, but rather with signal processing delay. I'm writing this in case someone encounters the same issue in the future and to provide a fix/workaround for the given time. You can set the scaling method from "display" to "gpu" in the nvidia drivers, which completely eliminates the added input lag. Same goes for the AMD driver, but for that i don't know the exact settings since i don't own an AMD card myself. For some reason the monitor is slower in upscaling 1080p images than the gpu in this case.

    • @freekvanemaus
      @freekvanemaus 4 місяці тому

      Monitor built-in upscaling is not really suitable for gaming, it's really only used for desktop applications and can produce input lag among other problems. Obviously the tiny chip in the monitor is nowhere near as powerful as a GPU. For in-game upscaling you should just set your display resolution to the native resolution of the display, and use DLSS, FSR or XeSS from the game menu when available. Lots of modern
      games support this. If not, just use the scaling from the driver settings but these are usually inferior in quality to the "AI" upscalers I mentioned before.

    It would be super useful for buyers if you could put a (subjective) scoring on how each monitor performs in the response time testing. For example, inverse ghosting 40% of score, input lag 15% etc etc. You could then give us a total “score” for each monitor based on their overall performance across all graphs based on your interpretation of what matters more to real world performance.

    I'm been using the M32U for a couple of weeks now. It's a nice monitor and I didn't notice any back light bleed. the response time is ok, not the best not the worst. HDMI 2.1 is not 48gbps but works very well with PS5 and Nvidia RTX 3000 series. My problem is, I'm been comparing the monitor with my LG OLED CX and that's not good because the OLED TV is a beast. all I can say is, for the price of the monitor (I pay $800 plus taxes and shipping) is not a good value. TV's now are getting real closed or better than monitors, bringing gaming features like low input lag, zero ghosting, VRR, ALLM, HIG plus you got Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and apps. if you don't like big screen go for the 27 inch if you don't mind big size go for a TV with gaming features.

    Samsung's new 4k 144 Hz monitor is coming out soon as well. Can't wait for its review!
    I hate when people whine about how 1440p is good enough (good for them but 1440p looks like garbage to me) and how 4k does not need high refresh rate displays.
    To those people, this how you use it: You can just turn the resolution down to 1080p in-game and play with the high refresh rates! And play at 4k for the single player games with the lower frames (like Red Dead Redemption 2). -.-

    • @josephbastin2009
      @josephbastin2009 3 роки тому +2

      @@drunkhusband6257 Ah, I see. But, not for me though unfortunately. It's extremely obvious to me. I hate that it is since I'm forced to play at lower frames.
      I have a 4k 60 Hz monitor and a 1440p 240 Hz monitor currently.
      1440p is just 1.78x better than 1080p whereas 4k is literally 4x better than 1080p. The image looks so perfect!
      (For a 27 inch monitor, I don't mind it at 1800p because of the pixel density but nothing less than that)
      I think it's just that I am sensitive to this more than others. Some people don't even really consider graphics as a thing that factors into their gaming experience (not that I don't play games with bad graphics if is good in other areas). I'm the kind of person that goes bonkers when there's good graphics to the point that I would spend hours taking pictures of the game to only admire them later!
      This monitor appeals to people such as myself I guess!😅

    I just got the Gigabyte G24F for 190usd the other day. I mean under a 200 budget for 165hz (oc-able to 170hz), adjustable stand (height and tilit), small desk footprint? Sounds too good to me. But then again it's my first monitor, so I'm getting the best bang for my buck, on paper at least.

      @@bikemike1945 i know the exact article you’re refrencing from tweaktown. Its literally a paragraph long with no dates (it doesnt say “coming this year”). All lg said is they’re open to the idea and they’re “coming”. They hadnt even released the 42 inch oled tv that was slated for spring. The cheapest oled tv you can get is $1200 ON SALE. If you’re expecting them to release a gaming monitor for anything cheaper you’re crazy. The age of the tech doesnt matter at all. Its the fact that lg is the only producer of mainstream large OLEDs so they have complete control over pricing and releases. They’ll release small oleds when they’re ready/profitable.

    Got this monitor but it's constantly flicking to a black screen when I change apps (games/etc). I can't seem to find a fix.

      Update 2: Rarely had issues, now literally out of no where I've been getting black screens every 5-10 minutes. And I'm not even running anything that's graphical (just web browsing). At this point, I think I'm going to have to just get a different monitor, this isn't worth putting up with and gigabyte seems to just not give a damn.

    I've had this monitor for a few months. The fact monitor manufacturers can't eliminate cross talk blows my mind, especially considering the Asus VG248QE did it perfectly over 6yrs ago WITH A 3RD PARTY HACK/APP!!!
    & He's right about a bit of red being added to the image with strobing (Aim Assist) turned on. Its like a red double image yet it does increase sharpness. It enhances clarity but at a noticeable degredation in color, so pick your poison.
    When my eyes dart from one area to another, I see a bit of red my eyes can't perceive normally. I recorded it in high speed with my camera & the screen turns all red in between frames for just an instant.
    M32U is awesome for work, but gaming clarity isn't as good as I was expecting. I have no other reference for strobing effectiveness, but find it sad this is one of the better ones.

    I'm considering buying the M28U but I've seen many reviews complaining about black screen (maybe even shuts down) that appears for 4-5 seconds after exiting any full screen app (some people reported that this could be resolved by disabling G-Sync and FreeSync), have you experienced this issue?
    And also what do you think about the text sharpness and crispness as I intend to use this monitor for work as well and text sharpness is key for me.
    Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

    Question: I've heard plenty of people and a couple of reviews saying this monitor and the M32U only have a pseudo HDMI 2.1 port with only the HDMI 2.0 bandwidth, in other words, practically half the bandwith of the 2.1 spec. I'll admit I was lazy and only watched the conclusion, but you never mention it through out it, did this slip you by, is it just hearsay or did I miss you say this and maybe it's not such a big deal?

    Was planning on going 1440p 240hz but I'm debating going 4k 144hz instead. So many games are badly optimized so I rarely run into a scenario where a game is actually using 100% of my 6800xt at 1440p. Kind of feels like a waste of money not using 4k with this card.

And 1 more thing, if you want to activate HDR, you need to be in the 10-bit (8-bit + FCR) 'mode' or you can activate in the 8-bit 'mode' as well? Back to you Steve. Sorry if my language is shit, I do not understand monitors.

    If I didn’t already purchase an Asus XG27UQ (4k 144 Hz), I would have seriously considered this monitor; but I’m perfectly content with what I have now. Running the monitor using an RTX 2080 Ti and I can comfortably hit 144 fps in a lot of games that I play without making too many compromises, and can handle the varying range of refresh rates without too much ghosting/inverse ghosting.
