  • Hey everyone! This video tutorial is going to take you through the steps I use to create cuttable SVG files from photos. I want to show you how to make SVGs you’ll be proud to make into gifts or confident to sell. SVGs that:
    1. actually look good/recognizable
    2. can be cut and weeded easily
This is an intermediate level tutorial, so don’t be afraid to rewind, rewatch and ask questions in the comments!
You can use any photo in this tutorial - I’m using a real photo of my friend’s dog, not a professional stock image. This technique will allow you to turn home snapshots into SVGs that no one-click tool would be able to generate for you.
    The basic steps:
    - Open the image in photopea.com and apply artistic filters to the photo
    - vectorize the image and export the file as SVG
    - Open the file in your cutting software and cut out of vinyl, HTV or cardstock
    - Assemble your craft project!
After you get the hang of this technique, it’s possible to create a totally unique, one of a kind vector image you can cut with your Cricut or Silhouette machine in just a few minutes.
You can stop messing around with those one click photo to SVG converters that produce terrible quality vectors that are impossible to cut!
