- Today marks exactly 146 years since the Battle of Isandlwana. For decades, this war has been known as one of the Zulu nation's greatest conquering moments in the fight against colonialism. Historian, singer and songwriter Mbuso Khoza details why it is important to tell the story of Isandlwana.
Tune into Newzroom Afrika DStv channel 405 for more.
Baba Khoza, one of our scholars, we are proud of u
And to think that he doesn't have a formal education background is astonishing considering how eloquent he is🙌
I'm proud to say that my grandfather was there in that war e sandlwana and after the war he left KZN and settled in free state.
Liers
He was indeed a warrior.. I'm sure you too are a great grandpa by now.
Kwakuw ban umkhulu wakho wena we Silo?
He fled
That’s deep
How I wish Khoza would have met the best historian in the continent ubaba uPhathisa Nyathi frm Zim who passed away a few months ago. We would have heard the greatest conversation of all time!
I am really proud of this old man. He has resuscitated our heritage and diffused all the myths about our culture and hustory
Injulabuchopho ubab’Khoza🙏🏾

Ek hou van die Zulus. Ons het nog altyd baie respek vir hulle gehad.
You can tell that uBab'Khoza wanted to continue but the time was against him
How I wish he would have met the best historian in the continent our Zim historian who passed away a few months ago ubaba uPhathisa Nyathi, we would have heard the greatest conversation of all time!
Aldrin is a fan. Easy to see❤
we need to tell these stories
Very interesting
Teach this at school. We don't care for the English history. Africa is rich in literature.
But you are conversing in English via English inventions (programmable computer and the world wide web). 🤔
@lyndoncmp5751 duhh I need to make my point to the masses 🙄
@lyndoncmp5751 but the internet was created by a Nigerian
Sorry my good sir the internet is a black invention do your research.
We are teaching it in Grade 10 history.
Powerful

Mkhathini🎉
AmaXhosa fought and defeated the whites for a period of a century! One win after the other. No one talks about that, no public holiday about it.
Then talk about 😅 you can be popular
Wow! A treasure trove of knowledge on the history of the Zulus. Question is, how much of it is true, since his-story is written by the victors, in this case by the Zulu sell-outs. Let's hear from other knowledgeable babas.
Relax, all the historians have told the same story millions of times....go ask Queen Elizabeth if you need "more confirmation"
U Somtsewu Shepstone , once came to Matabeleland to try & impose Khanda disguised as prince Nkulumane his puppet king after the death of King Mzilikazi in 1868 but King Lobhengula who took over the reigns intercepted him at western Zim near Botswana.
beautiful mind
Call Zoza Shongwe
Dankie Penuel Show

Bab khoza madoda. Bathathe!!!!
The Zulu's and Boer's fought together against the British army, where was the ANC apartheids movement at the time of the wars??? Their religion came to South Africa in 1913, long after most of the wars was won. How many of our people was sent to concentration camps by the British and many young men murdered by the British army hanging them to windmills! The ANC movement has no claim on any land in this country except those who fought for our independence!
The Boers and Zulus never fought together against the British. The British only fought the Zulus for a short while.
The Boers/Afrikanas killed and brutalised far more black Africans and over a far longer period.
Britain kicked South Africa out of the Commonwealth because of its racist behaviour during Apartheid.
❤
With all respect as a Zulu person in Kwazulu Natal i don't see how remembering this battle works in our advantage, as we Speak our current Monarch is a disaster.
Again with all respect we need to prioritise growth and with the Youth being such heavy drinkers this battle wont matter in years to come.
By the way how would we feel if the Afrikaaners celebrates their victories or the English celebrated their victories.....We will always cry Racism until the day comes and we learn to grow or use that history to create growth within ourselves but for now i just see a downwards trajectory.
😢
Am I wrong to say that the story line of this man here has some elements of Things Fall Apart by Achebe?....
We celebrating defeat? Cause the war was lost the last stand was Bambata. We are still defeated.
It's not about losing, it's about standing up to bullies
@@itsnevertoolatetodotherigh3271so why dont we celebrate the khoisan as well?
Siyaphi isingisi baba Mkhathini mawuchaza ngezinto ezithinta zethu thina Bantu abampisholo iyacasula lento oyenzayo
👏👏👏💃💃💃
Mbuso Khoza is pot on. The ilobolo has been grossly interfered with colonially.
Great work ,,,,
1- In order to understand history well, we must return things and events to their original names, not hide them through the lies of God or through fake racism,
2- The name of the war is the war of the kaffiers against European religious colonialism, it was named this name because the African tribes rejected divine /god and religious superstitions.
The ancient Zulus do not document history and events through writing, but through songs and storytellers,, These songs and these stories were not prayers, but sciences, wisdom , wars and wedding songs and how to deal with life, then become religous song after the churchs stole it for Christianity like how Ndlozi and IFP do today ,,,
3- The queen and the Europeans felt a great danger, especially after some Englishmen and some Europeans left their religion and turned to life with the king in Ulundi .
4- The queen and the churches supported the converted African Christians and exterminated the Africans who refused to embrace divine and religious superstition, this situation still exists in the Zulu Kingdom and all African and European parties.
5- All respect and appreciation for what he said about lobola, it is slavery and a crime against humanity ,,lobola was never part of African culture and civilization, but was always part of the slave traders and mercenaries of religions, these are the customs of the Hebrew Israelites that the Protestants always support.
6- We should be proud that we are of Kaffiers origins and that the Kaffiers resisted the occupation to the end and is still resisting, the Kaffiers in South Africa did not only resist the European Protestant and Anglican occupation, but resisted all churches of various types, they also resisted the Hebrew Israelites, white Jews, Hindus, Muslims and spiritualists.
7- The current king is a product of colonialism and a symbol of defeat, weakness and slavery.
8- If you bring two 14-year-old boys, one of them a Zulu believer and the other a non-believer (Kaffier), you will find that the believer only knows the Bible and the names of the prophets from Adam to Jesus, while the non-believer knows all kinds of herbs and knows how to deal with nature, animals and danger.
Well said, few will understand you. In short western civilization favours the assimilated and isolate those who believe in africanism
Lol yes a kaffier means non believer (in arabic) but do not compare Christianity to other religions yes there was Judaism but Christ finished the work. Christianity is not a European religion nor were they the first. The ethiopians were the first Christians and they never got colonized, i wonder why. However the zulus are also bantu and are no different to other south africans.
Mkhathini uyihlahla uyibeke ngononina
Narrating a Zulu history in English...? Kanti nichazela obani ngoba angizwa lutho nilokhe nokwitiza lapho!
Lol unamanga
Unamanga bafo
"Narrating"
Buyela eskoleni impilo ayipheli e KZN
It a national TV and we want whites to understand what we are talking about
The Zulus must just remember they colonized South Africa aswell. They weren't the original inhabitants of this land. We, the children of the Khoi/Sun, are the real owners of the land. But we were the friendly inhabitants of the land that welcomed everyone. To our own detriment.
The Khoi and San were not as friendly as you think also how can they been land owners when they were hunter gatherers that moved from place to place and never settled anywhere
@TheArchives-o9f The fact of the matter is they are the first people on the land. Not even history know how long they were here before the Africans and Europeans came. That makes them the original owners of the land. How do you think ownership of the ground started? Stop playing dumb to fit your colonizing agenda.
Kak praat nie...
There was NEVER any Koi San in KZN !!!
DomDoos !!!!
@truth-Hurts375 Jy skel seker met jou mense by die huis so neh sleg ding. Maar ons praat nie van KZN nie ons praat oor Suid Afrika. En ek sê mos nou vir jou die Khoi/Sun was die eerste mense in Suid Afrika en was verjaag deur die Zulu's toe hulle in Suid Afrika gekom het.
Go do a little research before attacking people. Slimeball!!!😡😡😡
Khoi & San are dessert dwellers, found mostly within the western parts of SA, going into Botswana and Namibia. They're hunter gatherers, hence they live within these regions.
Zulus & other "Bantu" tribes inhabit the central and Eastern parts of S.A, due to the need for fertile lands, needed for agriculture.
There was no need for war at all, there was no need to compete for land or resources. That story you've been told is a lie.
If only people had the same energy and compassion for the khoisan. But they say we are all african lol i really doubt that. Tribalism is really real.
It's Bayethe (Bring them) not Bayede as the Zulus say!
Also Balethe.its the samething
Maxim machine gun won the war
Mayibuye iAfrica!
Regurgitation of the White man's approach of Black history from Krige, Braynt, Samuelson, Jenson, Cope etc.
This war is over glorified
Isandlwana battle cant happen today,. ANC would sell out, the way they have sold KZN to DA even after MKP won majoriity
Ayikho lento uyithethayo bra. MK got 45%. Not a majority.
@@DragonReaper1998 You've completely missed the point Ntwana, ANC got 40% Nationally yet y'all shout "Majority Party" we're not there, 45% of that province voted TO BE LED BY THE MKP, still the people weren't respected with their votes to drive markets and maintain the status quo
@njabulomthethwa4988 There was no point missed at all. If a coalition was formed by other parties to dethrone ANC like what happened in KZN, that would've been fine too but that didn't happen.
As much as 45% of people voted for MK, 55% of people in KZN did not. Most people in KZN didn't want MK. Biggest party does not mean you get to rule. You can only rule with a majority.
@@DragonReaper1998 don't waste your energy this guy is a ZANU PF spy
British colonialism was treacherous
It ended the slave trade, introduced modern human rights, democracy, the judiciary process, life saving medicines, schools, universities, hospitals..... and football.
You're far better off because of British Colonisation.

this means king Shaka never meet the white people
Highlighted comment, the facts is our ancestors was educated people when they came to South Africa. Our history can factually been proven while your version is based on hearsay because your ancestors was illiterate. We brought education to South Africa and nobody else we brougt health care to our country, we developed our country, none of the blacks were in South Africa in 1652, only the Khoi San, this is confirmed by the Germans who was in South Africa even before the UK. Denial of factual prove is your problem not ours!
