'I Went to Drink Tea and Got Captured': POW Story-confession

  • DISCLAIMER: the POW gave his clear consent for filming and publishing this footage. POWs are protected by the Geneva Convention and treated accordingly in Ukraine.
Serhii Shahinskyi comes from the Russian-occupied Donetsk. He was mobilised more than a year ago. After several severe wounds, he got accidentally captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he got medical treatment and decided to tell his story to the world. According to his words, Russian commanders treat mobilised as 'disposable.' They do not count them. The story of Serhii is about loss and injury. But now he has a chance to return to normal life as soon as the war is over, and he serves for possible crimes he had committed during the war on the Russian side.

total disrespect for their lives? Those, who do this do not have any idea of human feelings and empathy. If I was this POW, I´d never want to return. A new life can be started elsewhere. - Glory to Ukraine, we stand with you. 💙 💛

In every war, no exception, front line soldiers are considered commodity, not human. Should you not know it, you would reconsider going to any war. It's the reality.

The commander shot their dog for being afraid and hiding in dugouts.
That breaks my heart. God's innocent creatures and suffering so much too.
The defenders and so compassionate of God's creatures.
This POW seems sad about that.
I judge people by the way they treat God's innocent animals. This is the first time I've heard of Russians letting animals stay with them.
It seems like most of the Russian troops no are not quite as violent as the Bucha Butchers.
Y'all have probably seen the the video of the older man taken prisoner. They walk him up and I guess the commander says oh you're an oldie... the gentleman left. They treated him very decently and humanely.
I was glad he surrendered. I hope all Russian troops will surrender or go back home.
    Glory to the heroes 💙💛💪💪💪
