I'm sure the reddit crowd would be laughing and cheering, but the uncomfortable fact is that every meme like the tractors only serves to get more Ukrainians killed in a war they can't win.
It looks good. On a lot of occasions - at least two in Mariupol alone. The BTR 4 has smashed multiple enemy ifvs and apcs, including engaging two tanks. Damaging one and destroying the other.
@@22.calibermaster98 The two videos are concrete. There's nothing to be "sure" about them. It's a fact. In the first video the BTR engages 1 tank at a distance(damaging it, probably survived) and then destroys two APCs, plus a team of russian soldiers behind one of them. The second video it destroys an IFV and engages a tank - managing to pierce it's lower armor, between the tracks and destroy it.
Indonesia marine had tested the BTR 4 and found that it's amphibious capability is poor, and if am not wrong they also found that the hull is kind of rusty
You're correct--their manufacturing process was not good to protect the hull from corrosion--same problem was noticed when Iraq rejected an imported batch. They need to change their hull coating processes, perhaps do something like the whole-chassis dip process used by VW. Although that requires a lot of investment--probably money they did not have.

Ive been very impressed with how ukraine has used these, initially i thought they seemed awfully large and potentially heavy but the seem to have plenty of get up and go, and great movement in urban environments. They also seem to really use there weapon systems to more effect, the btr-82s ive seen often are moving slow with dismounts next to them, or just seem to be static, where the ukrainians seem to get where they need to go and use there btr to respond to more armored threats threating troops. I would love to see the mv1 continue after the war, it certainly seems more forward facing and better equipped for what they need.
@DiversityIsOurStrength Well that's extreme for any BTR, but comparatively to other BTR's the BTR-4 would be slightly better at stopping spalling from smaller arms and fragments from explosives if entering from the front of the vehicle. Israel's Merkava MBT uses the same principle of placing the engine forwards to utilize every part of the tank for added protection without sacrificing space or speed

Russia has never replaced the lost ex-soviet industrial complexes when Ukraine turned away. Regaining control over Ukraine would enable Russia to rebuild deep sea navy and modernize vehicles and aircrafts at far greater rate than before. So many important weapons and machines in the Russian army have been made in Ukraine... It's one of the less often spoken causes for this war, though at this rate it's questionable whether there will be something left to salvage...
they already have 4 barrier missiles that can penetrate 800mm behind ERA or around 1000-1100 without ERA also that 30mm canon fire 30x165mm rounds that can penetrate 46mm of RA at 60 degree angle or about 90mm at 0 degree angle for comparison side armor of modern tanks is around 30-80mm of RA
not surprising considering they are decades old equipment, with hardly any modernization And 30mm autocannons have been proven devastating many times before (as far back as OP Desert Storm).
But how well does it handle mud conditions? You can't talk about mobility in Ukraine without talking about the mud right now, it's a bigger issue than amphibious capabilities, I think. Certainly, this aspect is more talked about.

BTR-4M was already tested by Indonesian Marine Corps back in 2017. Its amphibious capability are worrisome because when BTR-4M goes at full speed in the water, the front hull always sinking beyond normal limits. And 1 of 5 tested was actually sinking during test on sea state 3. BTR-4M is a good IFV in lands, but its amphibious capability in the water is total engineering joke.
For inland water crossings in the middle of continental europe, the BTR is great, but if you want to take it out in the pacific ocean, that could be very problematic, which I doubt the BTR was designed to do (swim in ocean vs river)
BTR-4 was a promising design, but the fact that various countries who bought them ended up discarding them for horrible quality control (hulls were often heavily rusted and showed signs of cracks) meant that Ukraine wasn't able to deliver. Seems like Ukraine wasn't able to fully develop a new vehicle and instead, was using the hulls of much older ones and attempting to repurpose them. The only large scale order they had which was successfully completed was the Pakistani order for T-80UDs, and many of these included some small improvements from the Ukrainians, but overall were simply T-80s that were sitting in storage and sold for a few hundred thousand dollars a piece (absolute bargain). T-84 Oplot was trialed by Pakistan, and was deemed a failure because it couldn't shoot while on the move and showed a number of different quality issues. Overall, Ukraine had the potential to become a major arms suppliers and even counter the Russian arms industry, but unfortunately a number of big ticket items they produced more or less turned out to be lemons. Partly due to corruption, but also lack of funds. Really sad
Corruption, bureaucracy, Kremlin agents and a bunch of "red directors" of the communist regime, who fortunately no longer exist, are a plague for our country. We have the potential for the production of armored vehicles, large transport aircraft, missile and artillery weapons, anti-ship and tactical missiles, space equipment and much more. We have many educational institutions for training new people, and there is also a large number of old personnel for these industries

BPPU is not stablized. BTR-4 really needs to be seen in the context of the french VAB or more the german Fuchs as an attempt to produce a more analogous equivalent on the BTR-80 production infrastructure for competition of foreign markets which it excelled at. So much so it was used a reliable test-bed/stoppage for a whole series of these remote turrets as an IFV for what is intended as the mas upgrade of BMP-1(remote turret) which also has a massive foreign export sales potential.

The BTR-4 is by far the best protected. The engine placement adds more protection to the squad behind it
@DiversityIsOurStrength Well that's extreme for any BTR, but comparatively to other BTR's the BTR-4 would be slightly better at stopping spalling from smaller arms and fragments from explosives if entering from the front of the vehicle. Israel's Merkava MBT uses the same principle of placing the engine forwards to utilize every part of the tank for added protection without sacrificing space or speed

It’s good to go over rivers and small lakes. You’re pushing it in sea state 3.
