Love it Rik, that’s how my mum made lasagna and it was delicious. Love your style of cooking, making it easy to follow your recipes which all look superb 🏅
Made this yesterday and plenty leftovers for dinner tonight….. brilliant Rik, thank you for sharing!!!! I was tempted to suggest you do a book, but your videos are superb, and I’d miss your presentation technique. Your laidback, no fuss attitude towards cooking is so refreshing. Good man🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧
I will be trying this recipe easy peasy and looks very tasty. An English guy at SARASAS school where I worked used to make and sell cartoons of Lasagna but he went back to the UK.
When you realize Lasagna has a deeply British root it's crazy. The Romans or Greeks I can't remember had a version of it too but what were all mostly familiar with is what the Brits gave us.
Lasagna all over the world but the thing is the British version and variants of it are made everywhere! As you say crazy to say its a pasta dish - I love it! Best, Rik
Suggestion to all viewers on the question as to whether or not this is true Lasagne. Look up the definition and read about its origins. It said there are two common styles of Lasagne. One is Italian. The other referred to as American is prepared exactly the way Chef Rik made it. We all need to have a more open mind when it comes to food nowadays. There are so many fusions in many dishes from almost every country. When in doubt, we can always Google the definition and obtain more information. Have a pleasant day everyone. 😊❤
Thank you! Well done, good reply! I've given up on the purists that haven't a clue what is available in other countries, they all like the sound of their own voice. It's the world we live in. That's me being honest as ever. Thank you. Best, Rik
Cheers Rik that looks great! I often just use minced pork here in LOS as beef mince is a little bit too pricey but still works well. I've not made a lasagna for years but use pork or chicken mince or sometimes a mix of the two for spag bol and of course kick it up a notch with chilli flakes. Ta mate
I used to make Lasagne a lot but haven’t made it for ages cos it’s only me. I’m going to start making it again cos I do love lasagne. I always make mine very much like yours and your bechamel sauce is exactly like mine too. I used to make sauces with cornflour till I began cooking for the nuns and also in an aged care facility. I learned to do things a lot different.
If you can resist the temptation let it cool place it in the fridge reheat the next day it really seems to intensify the favour noticeably. Love your recipes Rik 👍.
Excuse my ignorance but how is what you call Italian lasagne different to this? This is the only way I have ever seen it made - ragu sauce, lasagne sheets and bechamel sauce.
Lasagna, often associated with Italy, actually originated in ancient Greece. The name "lasagna" is derived from the Greek word "lasagna," which refers to a flat sheet of pasta dough cut into strips. The concept of lasagna then made its way to Italy, where it evolved into its current form by adding traditional Italian ingredients like tomatoes, meats, and cheeses. The modern version of lasagna that we're familiar with, layered with these ingredients and baked, was developed in Italy. However, look at the title again: BRITISH LASAGNA - nothing to do with Italy. So glad I found your channel for Brit comfort food recipes. Cheers!
Hope you enjoy! Thank you. Best, Rik
I’m going to cook this British Lasagna, looks delicious!
Hope you enjoy it. Just eliminate the Italian Lasagna from your mind when you do. Best, Rik

Thanks so much. Best, Rik
Add a dollop of Coleman's mustard into the cheese sauce, it just adds to the flavour of a truly English lasagne.
Thank you. Best, Rik
I'll try with Coleman's - if try with Worcestershire sauce, two tablespoons, thank me later.

As British as Yorkshire Tea is. Lol
@@luigiluigi2098 Love Yorkshire Tea. Best, Rik
@@luigiluigi2098I don’t drink any other 👍
British? Online it says Lasgna was invented in 14th century Italy

Ground beef, Italian sausage, olive oil, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, sugar, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, ground black pepper, ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, lasagna sheets, fresh parsley, water.
Do a Scottish one. Deep fry it 😂

I'll stick with an Italian vegetarian lasagne, thank you, that looks nasty! But, I do like many of your creations.

British? and no Worcestershire sauce?
Not in here! Thank you. Best, Rik
@@BackyardChef I noticed Rik, which is why I made comment. I thought all British Lasagna included Worcestershire sauce? Two table spoon = delicious.
I'm sorry, but that is not lasagna. What you've cooked looks delicious, but it's not true lasagna.
Who said it was"true lasagna"? You need to read the title, I think.
I agree with 462.. I rate all your videos. Your an amazing top chef but this was soo painful to watch
No it's very good but it's not lasagna!
@@BackyardChef no ! It's very good but the lasagna it's italian food ! This not lasagna! Sorry
