If you want quiet, you would need optical mechanical keyboard with double dampening rings since membrane keyboards still produce clacker noise mostly because they are cheap, IBM did have some REALLY high end membrane keyboards back in the day I used one of them and they were so quiet I had to look down to see me typing just because I could not hear the keys at all. Shame they stopped producing those, Unicomp has some newer models though.
Nice review!, I bought a brand new MX keys, but right when I started using it, the backlight would go on and off in a loop, even if I was away from the keyboard or if there weren't any light changes, have you had that issue at all?, I'm trying to decide whether to get another unit that hopefully is not faulty, or go for a different keyboard.
I have the MX keys and Master 3, bought it back in early 2020. I am going for a minimal look now and ended up buying the MX mechanical keys in white along with the Master 3s. I have found that the best way to use these products is with the unify receiver or bolt receiver.
I think the issue was actually with bluetooth. The response time is just too slow for competitive games with bluetooth connections. It depends on what type of games you play though. If you play casual card games or things like minesweeper, then it's totally fine. However, if you are gaming on more intense action games like rocket league or general first player shooter, I think it might be a bit more difficult to win. Good review though. Glad to hear that this keyboard is good for your use case!
I could see that being an issue. I've had pretty good luck using it to play MW and some of the battlefield games. Sure I'm no competitive player, but I haven't really noticed any responsiveness issues. Obviously that will be different for everyone.
I play a lot of Overwatch, PUBG and other things on a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. I've never had issues with response time! But it can depend on your Bluetooth receiver on your PC!
Just bought the keyboard, never had a wireless keyboard before, and I also have a Logitech wireless mouse paired with the same unified receiver. I didn't expect the keyboard be top notch in gaming but tried playing Doom Eternal and and found it almost unplayable. I didn't notice anything significant at first but felt like I was playing worse than usual. Then increasingly started noticing things like mouse stuttering and keypresses, both keyboard and mouse, not being registered! Probably some wireless problem. I have been playing it with the same mouse a lot with no problems whatsoever, but now when the keyboard is also in the game, it's so bad. Slower paced games are fine though. Just gotta pull out my trusted old wired keyboard for some more action oriented games, it seems, which is a bit unfortunate. If this Logitech could also work in wired mode, it would be great because otherwise the keyboard is nice to use.
Alright, tried to use two unifying receivers, one paired with the keyboard, another with the mouse and what do you know - game was smooth as silk, no stuttering, nothing. I guess problem solved.
I had a stuttering/freezing issue with the Unifying receiver on other Logitech devices and it turned out to be interference with the Wifi antenna on the back of my desktop case. I switched to a USB port on the top/front of the case and it solved the issue. Just another thing people might want to try
I live in a small apartment and my keyboard (HyperX Alloy Origins) while great is just too loud. Sometimes I need to type late or just want to play a game before going to bed and it's impossible not to wake up my wife. This is one of the candidates for a backup keyboard for those occasions, as there is nothing mechanical and quiet as this unless one goes deep into the custom keyboards territory and don't have neither patience for that nor the money. I know it's not as well suited for gaming but I guess it would work well for my needs. I tried it briefly in a store, it's very well made and has an excellent feel to it.
Hi, I am using öx mini right now and I am curious about the durability of the keyboard. I put it to my regular backpack and some keys might be pressed in my bag. Will there be a problem?
I used g915 for the last year, mostly for work. Last week the - key died on me. It either acts twice or not at all. I even got locked out of an account because I had a _ in the password... I didn't expect a mechanical keyboard to have issues this fast, especially a $300 one. Now I regret I didn't know about MX series, it is exactly what I was looking for, but cheaper and probably better than the g915
I've had G613 and it started to suffer from the same thing as your G915, they tend to call it "key chatter" (you press character once, it appears 2-3 times). It's still under warranty but they are unable to replace it so I'm probably going to get a refund. Not sure what to buy though... add another $100 and get G915 with extended warranty or the MX keys. Never had any delays on G613 as the Lightspeed is absolutely awesome, so I'm a bit worried about the bluetooth in the MX.
Any comments on how the battery life has maintained itself over the year of use? Wondering if the battery itself has degraded at all over the long-term. Do you still get the same battery life now as when you first started using it?
I still think I get the same battery life or at least pretty close to as when I first started using it. With 40+ hrs of use per week I have to charge it every 3ish weeks.
Well, considering the fact that logitech did come out with the mx keys mechanical, I am actually really curious to hear your thoughts on them. Loved your review and I believe you covered all aspects of the mx keys very well (I am using the mx keys mini)
But, as great as Wireless is, I rather just have a cable, if you need a cable to charge it, then the cable is still present, wireless can only replace once wireless can also provide power at the same time which currently the technology to achieve this weights 1 ton, I guess we would be 15 years away.
Hi, is that a oil stain on your space bar? I'm considering mx mini white or black and I think some black keyboards get these oil shiny stains that can't be removed. Is your permanently there or it can be cleaned?
@I Like To Hack Things Thanks for your great review. Please can you tell me if your keyboard always lights up when your hands are in close proximity. Mine very often only lights up when I start typing. Also, a Logitech representative told me that in DARK conditions the keyboard should stay illuminated for 5 minutes after typing ceases. However, in dark/poor lighting, my keyboard illumination goes off after only a few seconds of stopping typing. Please could you tell me how it should be. Thank you.
Hey there, thanks for the review. I bought the MX Keys aswell but i do have one issue: If i have my hand on the keyboard without moving, backlight turns off after a while and on again as soon as i press a button, which gets a bit annoying over time. Is it different with the MX Master 3 as a bundle? So does the backlight of the keyboard stays on even if ur only using the mouse?
I've notcied that the light will turn off every once in awhile. You may be able to configure that with the logitech software. As far as the bundle question, the keyboard light doesn't turn on when I'm using the MX Master 3 mouse.
That keyboard looks great, but it appears that you can only connect 2 devices. 1 via Bluetooth and the other via USB Bluetooth. For most people this would probably be enough. Unfortunately I needed the ability to switch between 3 systems.
I'm using the clicky g915 tkl version version and I absolutely love to type on it!!! It made me obsessed with typing every day 24/7 and the battery lasts for days!!!!
I've been using MX Keys keyboard for a while and I like it LESS every day. Why? There's no good reference to get your fingers into the right place without looking down so I'm constantly in the wrong position and making way more mistakes than with any other keyboard I've used. For example, the function keys are exactly the same distance off the numbers--bad. Also, the logo on the "cmd" key looks similar the Windows key so I'm constantly confused which button is the Start button--I don't want Mac keys on my Windows keyboard. I also prefer dedicated multimedia keys over dual purpose FN keys. I do like the feel of the keys and can type quickly when I'm in the right position. It's VERY expensive, but I ordered direct from Logitech and got the palm rest for free. Finally, good luck getting your custom MX Master buttons to work--Logitech Options is CRAP.
It has a quite good lithium ion battery, it charges via usb B and you can use it while plugged in, although it doesn't support "wired mode" (as in, you can still use it via USB receiver/Bluetooth while charging with the cable)
I'll never understand people who complain about everything. You have to charge this keyboard once every 3 weeks for a couple of hours and you're complaining? Wth? Lol
I like memrane keyboards way better than mechanical. I've used both for years. Oh and I hate loud keyboards, I want it to be dead quiet.
I was leaning towards this keyboard and now I'm sold. Great review. Well done. Subscribed, too.
Hey Clark, happy to hear that my review helped. Looking forward to hearing what you think of the keyboard.
Did you buys ?
wow, such a good and honest review. I just bought one. thanks mate.
Awesome!

I just get this keybaord and this is one of the best typing expiriance that I ever have. I feel like writing for ever with this keyboard

love this review. made me confirm on purchasing this for office use!
So if that's the review after 1 year, that means that remains as good as the first use. Great!
Yeah I would say so.
Thanks for checking out the review!
Hey, i was just wondering, what headphones are the ones from the thumbnail. Great video btw

I just brought this at Best Buy I charged it up fully I'm about to connect it to my new chromebook before I move on will it connect to my computer

I was worried there for a minute! I use the USB Bluetooth receivers on my gaming pc as well, that probably why I never had issues.
Glad it's working!

Now mx mechanical is available!
Hi. Logitech released the MX Mechanical Keyboard. You got what you asked for :)😊
Nice review man

I was recently looking at the g915. Thanks for your feedback.

what is difference from mx kays for business?
Do you use a palm rest and if so, do you think it helps? I'm trying to decide if I should get a palm rest for my MX Keys.
I don't use one, but I can see the benefits.
Any comments on how the battery life has maintained itself over the year of use? Wondering if the battery itself has degraded at all over the long-term. Do you still get the same battery life now as when you first started using it?

mx keys mechanical is not worth you money, cheapass build

My MX Keys is fading after a year. So I'm not sure if its original or not
How is the ergonomics of Mx keys? Do you need a wrist rest for it?
A wrist rest can't hurt to have.

I've had similar experience. Look into the software.

Did you have a backlight issue ? Blinking by it self even when no one using.
No issues with the backlight blinking.
What about ghosting?
Did your keyboard get the shine effect because of the abs keycaps?
Not 100% sure, could be from use.
That's use, mine looks shiny too
logitech just launch mx mechanical, you should check it out
Now they did a mechanical version
well Logitech has g915 which is a low profile mechanical keyboard
That keyboard looks great, but it appears that you can only connect 2 devices. 1 via Bluetooth and the other via USB Bluetooth.
For most people this would probably be enough. Unfortunately I needed the ability to switch between 3 systems.
@@ILikeToHackThings Fair enough

Haha I know what you mean. If I only had the need for 2 systems I'd buy that keyboard today.
Why the hell would a keyboard need to be loud ? 😆
Haha some people like the clicky sounds

I hate wireless hardware (human interface) with a few exceptions. It's fashion over "working." Logitech is quite pro, though.
Bluetooth has improved enough so that wired peripherals are a completely unnecessary hassle.
@@BookClubDisaster I just can't use 99.9% audio. Maybe you talk about consumer players.
@@elektron2kim666 Audio, yes. it's still a downgrade compared to wired. Mice and keyboards? Not anymore in my experience.
@@BookClubDisaster Okay.
I hate that it's wireless, I would hate to swap out batteries every 3 weeeks, if it was wired I wouls buy it in a hearrtbeat

Charges by USB. Not Duracells.
