    I have built plenty of tube amplifiers and I always fall back on Class A with zero feedback minimal parts while pushing less than 2 watts, now that's pure audio joy! Thank for your review, very informative!

      i am a bit new to tubes but 2 watts how that going to get a speaker moving seems like 15 watts would need to be a min and have a bit of head room .my favorite receiver is the pioneer sx-1010

      @@overbuiltautomotive1299 one of the finest amps made Decware pushes 2watts per channel. Its not about the watts - its the sensitivity of the speakers. an 86db sensitivity speaker is going to struggle more than 6 ft away ...Now 95-96db sensitivity - BOOM - Most systems (in pure A mode) run on the first couple of watts...

      @@overbuiltautomotive1299 unless you like loud booming rock concert music or you’re looking to shake the walls with you will probably not use more than one watt. If you have the right speakers.
      I built a 96 db. sensitive efficient speaker Full range Back horn loaded.
      If you actually push out one full watt of power you’re listening at 96 DB sound level . And that is well above far above comfortable or even tolerable listening level.
      The special magic and the joy is in the single-ended class A amp design. It’s the sound that is special.
      And it needs to be coupled with a very high efficient speaker design.
      With a very clean non-compressed linear recording.
      When I attended the Burning Amp Festival sponsored by do it yourself AUDIO and Nelson Pass. Nelson designed a 1 W headphone amplifier class A and prove its power they played it I believe it was possibly a 15” Tannoy speaker in a very large room and it was very loud room was filled with about 100 people and everyone was blown away by how a tiny headphone amplifier that fit in the palm of your hand and only put out one watt can produce so much sound

    Hi Steph, I'm starting to fall in love with the look of Tube amplifiers after getting into vinyl and i am planning to start building one but at the moment i'm busy working my way through Morgan Jones Valve Amplifiers and his Building Valve Amplifiers books after your recommendation. Its heavy going but i'm getting there.
    i'm not unfamiliar with electronics but i've always had a problem simplifying because i'm always saying what if!. i seem to be picking up bits of the picture but some things are throwing me off. is there any good sources that can break down the design process/ Methodologies/ why we choose the parts we choose? or what do we start with? for example if i wanted a push pull amplifier how do i know what transformers i would like to use or need, or tubes i would like to use or need? Why do some amps have 4 KT88's because a lot of ppl say its down to the kind of sound you want but i have no reference other than my solid state amp. is it a case of just buying the critical components that i would like to use and build around that? I love the Idea of a clean non digitised sound. I appreciate this is going to be slow process i'm just trying to fill in the gabs. Your channel is great and has only got me more excited about building one, I thank you for the inspiration my wallet however does not 😅. From all the research i've done i'm steering toward a push pull but this is because i am thinking i need higher wattage for the speakers. But i like the Idea of Class A for the less processed signal. Thanks.

    • @SkunkieDesignsElectronics
      @SkunkieDesignsElectronics  3 роки тому +1

      It's a pretty step by step, but not as detailed as the 6SQ7 build was. I think using both series, you should be able to and at the end, the DIY amp sound better mostly due to the limitations of the A50 transformers. The A50 mods are less work, end up costing more in total but you don't have to do much if any fabrication.
